  • Trump Pulls Out Of Syria
Libby Znaimer is joined by Bradley Polumbo, Deputy Contributors Editor & Commentary Writer at the Washington Examiner as well as Irfan Yar, a Security and Counter-terrorism analyst in the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and a graduate student of international affairs at Carleton University.
Yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he is pulling U.S. troops out of Syria as part of his promise to withdraw America from the "endless war" across the Middle East. He says that he consulted widely, but the Pentagon says it was blindsided. It leaves America’s Kurdish allies, who did much of the heavy fighting against ISIS, open to an expected attack by Turkey. That’s why Trump is facing a backlash even from some of his staunchest Republican supporters like Senator Lindsay Graham.

  • The Strategy Panel
The leaders of Canada's federal parties squared off in what was a heated final English-language debate last night. Liberal leader Justin Trudeau was on the defensive as the other five candidates attacked his government's track record throughout the course of the two-hour back and forth. One of the most revisited themes of the night was climate change. While all the leaders exchanged jabs towards each other, arguably no one delivered a true "knock out punch" by the end of it.
To unpack it all and with just two weeks until voting day, Libby Znaimer is joined by John Capobianco, Senior Vice President & Senior Partner, FleishmanHillard HighRoad, Karen Stintz, Former City Councillor and current CEO of Variety Village, and Charles Bird, Managing Principal of Earnscliffe Strategy Group in Toronto.

  • Pedestrian Safety
Libby Znaimer is joined by Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Mississauga and Sergeant Brett Moore of Toronto Police Traffic Services.
Mississauga is making changes to its traffic laws. The general committee for the City of Mississauga has supported changes to the current traffic by-law. It will see speed limits lowered across 10 different neighbourhoods from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr.
Mayor Bonnie Crombie explains that this reduction in speed limits will be safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
Also, starting today, a traffic pilot project is being implemented on Queen Street. Cars illegally parked on this street between Fallingbrook Road and Roncesvalles will be relocated to a side street. This, instead of being towed, ticketed or impounded, which is the current policy.
Mayor Tory says that the move is being done to deal with preventable delays. The pilot project will run for a total of six weeks.
