Pancreatic cancer is now on track to become the third leading cause of cancer death in Canada in 2019, overtaking breast cancer.

Canadian Cancer Society spokesperson Leah Smith says "Pancreatic cancer isn't a cancer that's talked about a lot for a couple of reasons - it's only the 12th most commonly diagnosed cancer but it has one of the lowest survival rates of any cancer," says Smith.

"It's becoming an increasingly large contributor to the overall cancer burden. From a relative perspective, we're seeing it's inching its way up."

Overcrowding in Ontario hospitals reached a record high in the month of June....when it took an average of 16.3 hours for patients to be admitted to hospital from an Emergency Room.

The Ontario Hospital Association says this was the worst June on record for so-called "hallway medicine" since the province began collecting the data about 11 years ago.

One major issue that hospitals continue to grapple with...are ALC or "alternative level of care" patients...who don't need hospital care, but can't find long-term care beds.

The OHA says in the month of June alone, some 45-hundred patients were occupying hospital beds when they didn't need to.

A senior is dead after succumbing to injuries from a fight that occurred on Tuesday morning at Bendale Acres- a city-operated nursing home in Scarborough.

The victim has only been identified as a male who died of his injuries in hospital. Homicide detectives are investigating and they say staff at the home are cooperating. At least 29 nursing home residents have been murdered by other residents in the last six years.
