There is hope that a landmark American settlement in a massive lawsuit is good news for Canadian victims of the opioid crisis.

Yesterday An Oklahoma Judge ordered Johnson and Johnson to pay $572 million (U.S) for mounting a misleading marketing campaign overplaying the effectiveness of its opioids for chronic pain and downplaying the risk of addiction.

This past Sunday, Miguel Candia, a 72-year-old pedestrian, was hit and killed on Kingston Road in Scarborough.He is the second senior to be killed on the roads in Scarborough within a week and the fourth pedestrian above the age of 60 to be killed in the past 30 days across the city.

His anguished family is calling out what they say is drivers' indifference to seniors' security.

Starting on October 1, some medical services Ontarions are accustomed to will no longer be covered by OHIP. It’s everything from getting earwax removed by your doctor to X-rays for sinus problems and some CT scans.

There are based on recommendations from the Ontario Medical Association to modernize OHIP. The idea is to remove the duplication of services and save costs. What are your thoughts?
