Meanwhile, Trudeau has defended Toronto Liberal MP Han Dong after it was reported that the Chinese government was involved in influencing his nomination in 2019. Also, the federal government has banned the use of Tik Tok on government issued phones to its employees to better protect them from cyber attacks and surveillance. OTTAWA'S HEALTHCARE DEAL WITH ONTARIO

HOW LONG DO YOU SPEND WORRYING ABOUT YOUR FINANCES?

Libby Znaimer is joined by Lesley-Anne Scorgie, Founder of MeVest, a leading edge financial education company specializing in money coaching for Canadians.

A new poll published by Scotiabank shows that Canadians spend, on average, 15 hours per week worrying about their personal finances (up ten hours from last year), which equates to about 31 days per year. To break it down: 44 per cent worry about paying for day-to-day expenses, 39 per cent worry about paying off their debt. Lesley-Anne looks at more of the survey's findings and offers tips on how you might approach looking after your money if you are feeling tight.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ONTARIO'S CONCERNING NUMBER OF ER CLOSURES

Marissa Lennox is now joined by Dr. Jamie Spiegelman, Internal Medicine and Critical Care Physician at Humber River Hospital and NDP MPP and health critic France Gélinas (Nickel Belt).

The Toronto Star published an explosive story this morning about the concerning number of ER closures that have taken place in the province. To be specific, ERs had to close 158 times in the past year (from February 2022 to February 2023) which translated to about 4,430 hours (or 184 days). The ER with the most shutdowns this past year (38 overnight closures) was Glengarry Memorial Hospital in Alexandria, Ont. So, what is contributing to all of this? Is it just because of a staffing shortage of professionals like nurses? The province is reportedly working with the College of nurses to expand seats in college nursing programs and make it easier for overseas-trained nurses to work in our hospitals. But is that enough?

In the news: The Globe and Mail broke the story late last week on CSIS documents revealing China's strategy of influencing Canada's 2021 election. It involved Chinese diplomats and their proxies making efforts to help the Liberals go back into power and working towards defeating Conservative politicians they feel have an unfriendly attitude towards China. Meanwhile, U.S. President made a surprise visit to Kyiv, Ukraine this morning. We discuss the implications of it all.

A lot is happening at Toronto City Hall: the 2023 budget was finalized after a long and sometimes disruptive meeting in the city council chamber. Mayor John Tory made it clear that he would not use his powers to veto any of the amendments. And, Tory has officially summitted his resignation to the city clerk with his last day being this Friday. Meanwhile, Premier Doug Ford openly said that it would be a disaster if a "lefty Mayor'' replaced Tory. He also said that everything is running "tickety-boo" for Toronto which leaves some of us scratching our heads and wondering if he has been aware that not all things are clearly functioning well here.
