Fight Disciples Podcast

Refereeing combat sports is a very tough job with decisions needed in an instant.  At the weekend many called a premature ending to the main event but in our eyes Herb Dean was mostly right in his call.  We discuss an epic night at the Apex as well as previewing UFC 275.

Devin Haney is the new king of the lightweight division after a classy display in Melbourne Australia against George Kambosos.  He took the champion to school and showed there are levels to this game.  Our love for the performance was diluted due to the incoming rematch clause kicking in which is completely unnecessary.

Joe Cordina became the IBF super featherweight champion with a sensational knockout in Cardiff and Stephen Fulton punched his ticket into the P4P top ten dishing out a boxing lesson on Danny Roman.

We also look ahead to this weeks action including the super fight in Japan.

A lot has happened in boxing this week including Anthony Joshua not only confronting students but announcing a new trainer for his upcoming rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The unified rules make it really easy for fighters and fans to understand how to win a MMA contest.  The trouble is, not a lot of them have actually read them!

Holly Holm lost a narrow split decision to Ketlen Viera at the weekend and many shouted robbery.  THIS was far from the case as we explain in todays show.

Jermell Charlo was absolutely magnificent in his approach and execution of his rematch with Brian Castano to establish himself as the peak performer at 154.

We review the performance of the weekend as well as all the other action including questionable judging in France.

This week we look ahead to the all British clash in the light heavyweight division between Joshua Buatsi and Craig Richards.

Yes, we have to point to the fact he did not make weight on Friday and is therefore no longer the UFC lightweight champion but is there a 155er that can beat Charles Oliveira?

Never mind too big or too strong, Dmitry Bivol was just far too good for Saul Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

We discuss the fight, the scoring and what should come next for both men.

We also look ahead to this weekends undisputed rematch at super welterweight and we pay tribute to one of our favourites who announced his retirement last week, Kell Brook.
