From the football field to the battle field, the Hawkeyes first all American in ANY sport, Marine Fred Becker perished in Northern France in WW1 and Heisman trophy winner Nile Kinnick died as a Naval Aviator in a plane crash in May 1943. Kinnick's cousin, now 97 year Clifford Stump fought with the 82nd Airborne Division on D-Day and at the Battle of the Bulge. Veteran Clifford Stump joins this week's Fight for Iowa.
