They sat down and talked about growing up as a Christian in Baghdad as an Iraqi citizen, being extorted and threatened with murder, fleeing to Syria, and eventually coming to America and starting a successful business. Rather than relying on speculation, this evidence comes directly from the world in which Revelation was written.

Jay explores the archaeological discoveries from the Judean Desert, the significance of the 666 and 616 manuscript traditions, and why the spelling of Nero's imperial title matters for understanding the Beast of Revelation. He also addresses common objections and demonstrates how historical evidence strengthens the case that John's original audience would have immediately recognized the reference.

If Revelation was written in the first century, the number 666 may not point to a distant future ruler at all—but to a persecuting emperor already known throughout the Roman world.

I recorded this podcast exactly one year ago while absent from Grace Agenda, which had a C.S. Lewis focus last year. Thankfully, I am participating in Grace Agenda this year, although I didn't have time to record a new podcast today. So I am re-sharing a lightly edited version of last year's podcast, which is a look at China through ten of C.S. Lewis’s letters. 

C.S. Lewis mentioned China numerous times in his correspondence. Here are a few examples, followed by my own thoughts and commentary. The first one in particular stands out for how close it comes to outright racism, especially the original letter from Lewis’s brother, Warnie.
