Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero! Finally it has arrived in North America and we watched it! HUGE spoiler warnings but as always the first minute or two we provide some spoiler free thoughts so go watch the movie and then join us in the conversation!

 

The Red Ribbon Army was once destroyed by Goku. Individuals who carry on its spirit have created the ultimate androids -- Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. However, these two androids call themselves superheroes and start attacking Piccolo and Gohan.

After 6 months Host Pick Part 2 has arrived!! To recap, we each nominated an anime for the other to watch that isn't something they would normally. For the second half Phil watched Ken's suggestion Hajime no Ippo! Episodes 1-60 were watched just right after Ippo's first title match.

This week we go back to one of the OG's of filler anime, Naruto! We watched episodes 170 & 171 of Naruto Shippuden, a two part filler arc: The Quest for the Fourth Hokage's Legacy.

 

Naruto, Sakura, and Team 10 take on the oncoming challenges in order to find the secret technique and break the previous record set by the Fourth Hokage, but Naruto's impulsive action leads the group into various troubles.

 

The show aired from 2007to 2017 with a total of 500episodes . It was  produced by Pierrot studios, known for making some popular shows such as : Bleach, Black Clover, Tokyo Ghoul, and many more.

We've had first One Piece , what about second One Piece? We conclude our double header with the G-8 Filler arc. One of the best filler arcs in all of the anime and could easily be mistaken for canon. This filler arc takes place directly after the Straw Hats exit the Sky Island  but before Water 7. 

 

When the Straw Hats  land in the middle of the marine base G-8, they are forced to abandon their ship, as many marines immediately spring upon it. Separated, the crewmates are forced to disguise themselves and try to find a way out of the base, which is comprised of a huge mountain surrounded by water, and then a ring of sheer rock cliffs that form a wall of sorts.

 

The film came out in 2009 with a run time just shy of 2 hours. It was  produced by infamous Toei Animation known for making some of anime's staples such as: Toriko, Dragonball (Z), Digimon Adventures, and many more.

One Piece is back... well its never left but back for us! This week we watched One Piece Strong World a movie that came out in 2009 . This is first week of a One Piece double header header. Stay tuned next week when we finally get to the infamous G-8 filler arc!

 

Upon hearing news that islands in East Blue are being destroyed, Monkey D. Luffy and his crew go to investigate. On their way, however, an outlandish pirate ship appears out of the sky, helmed by the infamous pirate Shiki "the Golden Lion". In his quest to defeat the World Government, Shiki kidnaps Nami to be his own navigator and sends the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates to his floating islands as hostages, leaving her in a dilemma.

This week we revisted Toriko! episodes 124 & 125 a two filler episode where Toriko and the other Gourmet Kings plus Katsu show off their new acquired skills and power. Toriko even learns a cool new move, will it stick around in canon? We can only hope!

For this week's episode we look back to the early 2000s and watched Inuyasha! Episodes 133 & 134 : The Woman Who Loved Sesshomaru . A mini filler arc where a woman named Sara encounters Sesshomaru and his group, stating that she had first seen him some time before, and claims that she can help grant his wish.

 

Inuyasha ran from 2000-2004 for 167 episode. It was  produced by Sunrise known for some amazing works such as: Cowboy Bebop, Gintama, and Code Geass.

This week's episode we watched Bubble a beautifully done anime movie that aired on April 28th 2022 on Netflix. We decided to take a break to review this new movie since we were excited about it since the first trailer in 2021.

 

The story is set in Tokyo, after bubbles that broke the laws of gravity rained down upon the world. Cut off from the outside world, Tokyo has become a playground for a group of young people who have lost their families, acting as a battlefield for parkour team battles as they leap from building to building.

 

This is a new anime movie  produced by Wit Studio known for some amazing works such as: Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, Vinland Saga, and Great Pretender.

This week we watched ep.227 of Gintama and ep.26 of SKET Dance, two crossover filler episodes!

 

In order to celebrate their latest milestone the Yorozuya are forced to do a collaboration with the gang from Sket Dance, even if their past collaborations really only came down to them ripping off other series with silly parodies.

 

Gintama had 367 episodes and ran from 2006 to 2018 with periods of cancellation and renewal,  it was produced by Sunrise studios mostly. A studio also known for: Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, and Sgt. Frog

 

SKET Dance had 77 episodes and ran from 2011 to 2012 it was produced by Tatsunoko Production Anime. A studio also know for: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Psycho Pass 2, and Metal Fight Beyblade
