Taking a break from filler this week, this episode we talk about our thoughts and impressions on the first three episodes of Spy x Family.

 

For the agent known as "Twilight," no order is too tall if it is for the sake of peace. Operating as Westalis' master spy, Twilight works tirelessly to prevent extremists from sparking a war with neighboring country Ostania. For his latest mission, he must investigate Ostanian politician, Donovan Desmond, by infiltrating his son's school: the prestigious Eden Academy. Thus, the agent faces the most difficult task of his career: get married, have a child, and play family.

 

This is a new anime being produced by two studios that pump out amazing works: Wit Studio and CloverWorks. Wit Studio known for: Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and Great Pretender. CloverWorks known for: Wonder Egg Priority, The Promised Neverland, and Horimiya.

My Hero Academia filler? Well maybe not exactly... but as close as we could find! This week we watched episodes :

32. Everyone's Internships: An anime canon episode where  it follows Froppy and her internship with Seal -hero Selkie.

 

55. Class 1-A: Mixed canon/filler episode where the filler deals with Todoroki taking on a ninja school. Al while  Momo, Froppy, Jiro, and Shoji face off against Sieai Academy in a battle of tactical strategy.

 

104. Long Time No See, Selkie: A full blown filler episode where Ryuku and her new sidekicks Froppy, Ochaco, and Nejire team up with Selkie to take down some drug smugglers.

 

This anime is currently still in production starting from 2016 with a current total of 113 episodes. Produced by Bones,  a studio also known for: Full Metal Alchemist, Mob Psycho, Bungo Stray Dogs, and many more quality shows.

This week's we watched Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, episodes 77 & 78 : Dawn of the Duel Board mini-arc.

The world of dueling has evolved, with Riding Duels becoming the peak of entertainment for the residents of Neo Domino City. They are played on D-Wheels, a hybrid between Duel Disks and motorbikes. After the mechanically skilled Yuusei managed to build his own D-Wheel, his former friend Jack Atlas stole it alongside Yuusei's best card, Stardust Dragon; ditching their decrepit hometown of Satellite, he escaped to Neo Domino City.

This anime ran from 2008 to 2011 for a total of 154 episodes. Produced by Gallop Anime,  a studio also known for: Initial D First Stage,  Rurouni Kenshin, and several other variations of the Yu-Gi-Oh series.

This week's we watched 79 & 80 of Fist of the North Star! 

In the year 19XX, after being betrayed and left for dead, bravehearted warrior Kenshirou wanders a post-apocalyptic wasteland on a quest to track down his rival, Shin, who has kidnapped his beloved fiancée Yuria. During his journey, Kenshirou makes use of his deadly fighting form, Hokuto Shinken, to defend the helpless from bloodthirsty ravagers. It isn't long before his exploits begin to attract the attention of greater enemies, like warlords and rival martial artists, and Keshirou finds himself involved with more than he originally bargained for.

This anime ran from 1984 to 1987 for a total of 109 episodes. Produced by studio Toei Animation, a studio that needs no introduction but in case you don't know them they produce One Piece, DBZ, and Toriko .

This week's episode is Hayate the Combat Butler, episodes 27 & 28.

Hayate Ayasaki, abandoned by his parents after accumulating a debt of over one hundred fifty million yen. He runs into Nagi Sanzenin, a young girl whom he decides to try and kidnap to pay for his family's massive debt. However, Nagi believes he is confessing his love to her. After saving her from real kidnappers, Hayate is hired as Nagi's personal butler. Highly skilled but cursed with the world's worst luck, Hayate gets straight to work serving his employer all the while trying to deal with the many misfortunes that befall him.

This anime ran from 2007 to 2008 for a total of 52 episodes. Produced by studio SynergySP, a studio known for titles such as: InitialD, the Major series, and  B-Daman.

This week we watched Pokemon: Sun & Moon --Ultra Legends, episodes 22-24. Although Pokemon is canon to itself we found these three episodes to fit the filler mold nicely . 

Ash's mother wins a free vacation to Melemele Island of the beautiful Alola region, which is filled with lots of new Pokemon and even variations of familiar faces. Eager to explore the island, Ash and Pikachu run wild with excitement the pair eventually stumbles upon the Pokemon School, an institution where students come to learn more about these fascinating creatures.

This season debuted in 2016 and ran until 2019. Produced by studio OLM, a studio known for all things Pokemon but also such titles as: Odd Taxi, Berserk, and Komi Can't Communicate.

Baseball is back!

In celebration of the MLB lockout ending we decided to do part 2 of Shonen baseball episodes! We compared them based on how much baseball was played in each episode, which team would be the best, and baseball 'realism'.

Continuing on with the theme of the last two weeks we watched Lupin III vs Detective Conan, the genius detective vs the greatest thief. 

During a trip to Japan, Princess Mira finds her double in Ran and takes the opportunity to trade places, which ends with Ran being spirited away to Vesparand with Conan, Zenigata, Kogoro Mouri, Lupin and Fujiko in tow. There they meet a waiting Jigen and solve the mystery of the deaths of the Queen and Prince.

This movie special aired way back in 2009. It is a sister-property of Detective Conan produced by TMS Entertainment, a studio who is known for  Dr. Stone, Fruit Baskets, Burning Kabaddi, and more.

This week we watched Lupin III : The Castle of Cagliostro a movie taken place sometime in part 2 of the series.

The story is about: Arsene Lupin III discovers that the money his latest casino robbery are actually "Gothic Bills," legendary counterfeits. Together with colleague Daisuke Jigen, he heads to the small nation of Cagliostro to investigate the origin of these counterfeits.

This movie aired way back in 1979. It is a sister-property of Detective Conan produced by TMS Entertainment, a studio who is known for  Dr. Stone, Fruit Baskets, Burning Kabaddi, and more.
