I was super excited, possibly the most excited I've ever been, to be interviewing sales mindset coach, Ruth Alade, who teaches female coaches how to sell and get more “yeses”.
Usually we've had experiences with sales in the past that have stuck with us, which isn't great. We’ve also heard people talk about sales in a negative light, and we don't want to become one of those “bad sales people”, like the Wolf of Wall Street. We don't want to be that salesperson that is trying to force something down people's throats. So we have all these beliefs like: I don't like sales, I hate sales, sales is bad.
When we show up to calls with these thoughts, what happens is that we're not able to actually dig deeper, because we're going to start thinking that if we ask a certain question, we’re going to come across as pushy.
Or if I say this, maybe this person isn't going to like it. So we tiptoe and people please. And at the end of that call, guess what you're going to hear?
“I need to think about it”, “It’s too much money”,“I need to speak to my husband, partner, cat, goldfish” etc, you get the picture!
When we come to calls with better-serving beliefs, we’re able to dig deeper into their objections to really find out what their situation is, what the real truth is.
The problem is that many times when people say that that they “need to speak to their partner”, that’s not actually the real reason. Most coaches will be afraid to dig deeper to find out whether it is genuinely the real reason or not.
But they may have just said it because they knew that if they say something like that, it works and you let them off.
The first thing for digging deeper is to look at yourself, look inwards. Whatever objections that you’re getting, you need to ask yourself, what do I believe about this? When people say that they need to think about it, what do you believe about it?
Are you someone that always thinks about things too? Are you someone that always has to speak to their husband? Are you someone that always has to meditate on it first? Because if you are that kind of person, then of course you are going to agree with their objection.
You need to look inwards and then decide if you want to carry on. I believe in these objections. And then also, if it is something that you’re doing, you have to decide if it's something that you want to carry on doing for yourself.
If you’re someone that doesn't like spending money on things, when people tell you that it is too much money, then of course you're going to buy into it. So in that instance, decide if you want to carry on being someone that doesn't spend money, or if you want to change that.
It's going to take you practicing whatever it is that you're choosing to believe about sales. Yeah. Whenever you find yourself going down that path of all these thoughts that aren’t serving you, then you can decide, I am not going to go down this path.
Ruth could tell you what to say and give you a script word for word, but it's not going to work because then you're going to show up with an energy oozing uncertainty, and people can sense that.
So, the way to go about changing this starts with you changing the way you are thinking about sales.
Always be curious with people’s objections. When you get curious, you're giving them that chance to talk about their situation, to talk about the problem that they want to solve.
You really need to take a good look at your money story. What are all the beliefs you have about money?
You can choose to believe that money is everywhere and that people can create money. So, it’s a constant work in progress. Always identifying those thoughts that aren’t serving you and choosing what you really want.
Otherwise your brain would just default to all those beliefs and thoughts that aren’t going to take you anywhere.
The 1st step is to have a pre-qualifying question, so whether people book through Calendly or Acuity, you need to have a question that says: “Are you ready to make a serious investment in yourself?”.
As you don’t want to waste your time on sales calls with people that aren’t ready to make a serious investment in themselves. Remember that time is our most precious asset, you can get back money but you can’t get back time.
For people that say they’re not ready to make a serious investment in themselves, you send them a freebie or a low-priced offer to get them in your funnel, and they can get in contact in future when they’re ready to invest.
The 2nd step is to get crystal clear on what their pain-points are. Do you remember before when I spoke about setting up market research calls? They’re the perfect opportunity to pitch your services.
You know that person’s pain-points, problems and challenges from a market research call, so whenever they come to you with an objection, you can say: “Do you remember earlier when you said how much you wanted to change this, and how much you were struggling? What’s happened now? What’s changed your mind?” and this will challenge them as they can’t go back on what they’ve said.
This isn’t being mean or trapping them, this is purely coaching them on the call. Coaching starts on a sales call. You need to challenge them on the sales call. I know it’s scary and uncomfortable, but this is how you build a resilient sales mindset and make MONEY in your business. I’m being deadly serious.
The 3rd step is to identify how committed they are. You need to ask them: “How committed are you on a scale of 1-10 to investing in your future and changing/improving your situation?”. You can even say here: “I only work with people who are 100% committed because that’s how I show up for my clients. I don’t settle for any less and I wouldn’t want you to settle for any less”.
Once you’ve got their commitment number, later on with any objections they have, you can say: “Do you remember when you said you were an (insert number) on the commitment scale? What’s changed that?”. If they say they’re a 7 or 8, you can even ask them: “What’s would get you to a 10?”.
I actually had a sales call with a prospective client the other day who said she was a 7 on the commitment scale, and only after her doing some digging, I found out her ACTUAL reason was that she wasn’t even entirely sure that she wanted to become a coach. Before, she said that she couldn’t do the program as she couldn’t afford it.
BUT, we know that objections can often be a smoke screen for something else. That’s why the coaching starts on the sales call. You have to dig deep and ask the right questions. As uncomfortable as it feels at first, it gets easier every time.
From my experience, when you dig deeper, you find out the real reason why somebody doesn’t want to sign up for your offer. You can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink, so when you realise that the person may not be the BEST fit, after digging deeper, simply let them go. I only accept prospective clients’ objections ONCE I’ve dug as deep as I possibly can.
The 4th step is to wait for them to say that the program is EXACTLY what they need.
The 5th step is to then talk about the investment, and you have to wait for your prospective client to ask you how much it is, as this shows that they’re interested.
Then, once you mention the price, you simply SHUT UP, you don’t say anything, and you definitely DON’T offer discounts.
If you’re not making sales in your business, you don’t have a business, you have a very expensive hobby. So, if you want to find out more about how to get fully booked on sales calls, book in a FREE 1:1 1 hour coaching call with me!

I’ve had SO many women come to me over the past few weeks feeling extremely frustrated, overwhelmed and deflated that their messaging just isn’t converting, they’re putting out of all this amazing content, but they aren’t seeing any results, they aren’t getting any clients or booking in any sales calls.
Today, I want to teach you how to get your messaging to convert, and also why it isn’t converting. So, the first step is to get crystal clear on who your ideal client is.
Here’s the difference between the carrot🥕and the cake🍰…
The carrot🥕 is what you THINK your ideal client wants and needs, whereas the cake🍰 is what your ideal client ACTUALLY wants and needs. So often, we assume what our ideal client wants and needs, and we don’t do the research.
Market research, from my experience, works EVERY SINGLE TIME! We can’t assume what our ideal client wants and needs without asking them.
So, I want you to put out some questions in Facebook groups, and your own social media platforms…
Asking your ideal client what their biggest struggles, challenges, problems and pain-points are, in relation to your area of expertise.
The next step is to DM them, and I know what you’re thinking, but DMs don’t need to be salesy or sleazy.
DMs can be fun, friendly and approachable. You’re going to DM the people that engage in your post and you’re going to say them…
“Hey (insert name), thank you so much for engaging with my post, I really appreciate your feedback. I’m actually looking to gather some market research on my ideal client and wondered if you wouldn’t mind jumping on a call with me, just to tell me a bit more about what you’re struggling with. Don’t worry, it’s not a sales call, it’s just a chance for me to get crystal clear on my ideal client. In exchange for your time, I will offer you a FREE coaching call worth (X amount). Let me know your thoughts!”.
So, you’re giving them something in exchange for their time and feedback. SO many people will be willing to hop on a call for you, especially as you’re offering them a FREE coaching call.
It works EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I had a client sign up with me last week and she used the strategy straight away, as for months she was struggling to sign a single client. She had a massive dry spell, was beyond frustrated, and felt like giving up.
She started implementing this strategy, and got NOT 1, NOT 2, BUT 3 CLIENTS IN 1 WEEK!!!!
And that’s totally possible for you too, it’s not just bespoke to her! My client Natalie didn’t even have a business before she started working with me, and then she got an INCREDIBLE 3 clients in 1 week!!! My other client Amy also went from not having a business to signing 2 clients in 1 week, and as I say, this is totally possible for you too!!!🤩🙌🏻🎉
It doesn’t matter where you’re at right now, it doesn’t matter if you’ve just started your business, or you’ve been running it for 10 years.
This strategy works WITHOUT FAIL. It’s worked for so many of my clients, and also for me. It’s basically my magic formula.
So, if you’re interested in hearing more, and want to make a serious shift in your business, remember that nothing changes until you change, then book in a FREE coaching call with me below where I’ll review your messaging.
https://calendly.com/findyourmojocoaching/free1hourcoachingcall
I’ll also give you more information on my strategies, so let me know how you get on with what I’ve just mentioned! I’d love to hear from you!

7 reasons why you’re not making as much money in your business as you’d like…
Meaghan J. Smith is a money mindset and empowerment coach for women, where she helps you to create the extraordinary life you want to live on purpose.
Meghan is also a fellow podcast hot and runs the Money Mindful Podcast, where she recently interviewed me all about money mindset. You can listen below:
https://moneymindful.com.au/ep37/.
Decide to take ownership of your financial destiny.
You can't bury your head in the sand when it comes to money and expect to create more of it, or bring more money into your life.
Whether that's how you manage the money that you earn in a 9-5 job, or how you go about creating value to make more money in your business.
Give your money some love. Pay attention to your money. Keep track of your money. Respect your money and your money will respect you.
Be grateful for your bills because your electricity bill enabled you to run your business from home, your water bill enabled you to wash, and your WiFi bill enabled you to watch your favourite show on Netflix!
Gratitude is the basis of abundance and manifesting more money. If you're not already grateful for what you have, how the hell can you manifest more? You can't manifest more from a place of lack.
Money is amazing as it gives us options, it's a tool that we can use in exchange to have other services and things in our lives.
You can't create a new result in your life if you keep doing the same thing. If you keep thinking the same thing and doing the same thing, you live your life on repeat.
The way you think has created the results that you have in your life now. If they’re not the results that you want, you need to think differently and be willing to be wrong.
Nothing changes until you change. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. What you don’t change, you choose. We are always choosing what we receive, through our subconscious mind, our thoughts and our belief systems.
We can actually learn new ways to do things when we're open to it. Now, obviously if you've got like a deep rooted belief that you have to work hard for money, you're going to create that result for yourself when you keep looking at it.
But you can change that too: I'm learning how to make money without working hard, like just cracking the door, opening yourself to the opportunity for change.
You can think about your goals, but at the end of the day, you’ve got to take action, and that can feel uncomfortable. But you've got to step out of your comfort zone.
It’s looking at different ways that you can earn money and actually learning those ways and then actioning them.
So if you're in business, invest in your education about how to make money in business. If you're a business, you need to know how to market your business, how to create value and get clients.
If you're given two options, always pick the harder one because that's the one that you need. That's the one that's pushing you outside of your comfort zone. And as we know, you don't thrive in your comfort zone, you survive in your comfort zone.
Do you have the capacity to hold money? Can you have money in your purse without spending it? Can you just be at peace with money?
Money creates more money. It’s this ability to be at peace with having money and not needing to do anything with it.
Meaghan recommends to do a thought download, where you write down all the thoughts in your mind, and then ask yourself: what are the facts and what are my thoughts? A lot of thoughts we have, we think they're facts. Thinking you’re not good with money can’t be proven so it’s just a thought.

Laura loves to talk about facts versus feelings because our fear response is the thing that's often stopping us and that’s an emotional response.
There's a part of our brain called the amygdala, which signals fear. So when there's anything unknown, even if it's a really positive, exciting thing for us, that part of our brain flares up.
This triggers those thoughts and behaviours that stop us or inhibit us from actually going ahead with a strategy. You can have the best strategy in the world but if you don't have that confidence behind you and that emotional regulation, that resilience, then it's probably not going to be as successful as it could be.
Emotional resilience is self-compassion. It's accepting your emotions and your circumstances for what they are in that moment. For me, I was running away from my dark thoughts and feelings that were trying to rise up to the surface, and physically running away from them because I was running for exercise.
I was using it self-medicate, and I realised that throughout my life, I've been using distraction to self medicate. When I first started working straight out of uni, I was still partying because I didn't want to become an adult and face reality. Then when I met my boyfriend two years ago, I was self medicating through codependency. I was relying on him for my happiness, which meant I was in a job that I absolutely hated. Then in my business, I was relying on over-exercising and over-working to self-medicate and distract myself. It was all because I didn't want to face my inner demons and all of these emotions.
Laura suggests viewing failure as feedback, rather than the end result. Ask yourself, what could I learn from these lessons?
If we're thinking positively, then we're going to feel more positive and then more positive things are going to happen.
Laura believes that listing down the things you’re grateful for when you’re feeling down is distracting you from facing the real problems at hand. It buries it, and then that manifests in your mood, so you might be quite snappy with your partner or your loved ones, or you might be less motivated, or you might struggle to sleep or struggle to wake up, or you might feel trapped, lost, or confused.
We need healthy strategies rather than coping strategies, as coping strategies just mask a bad smell and act as a bandaid. Sometimes sticking in your comfort zone or sticking to what you know is the worst block.
Laura is all about living intentionally. She likes to encourage everyone to live more intentionally, because the whole point of life is to live a fulfilled life with purpose and to feel happy. Be conscious of how you’re feeling and be conscious of what you want.
A lot of people have said to me recently that money and love are at the same frequency. So how I feel in love is how I want to feel in money. If I can feel the same way in love as I feel in money, then I'm going to manifest money. That's just the way the energy and vibrations work. Practice the frequency until choosing those feelings come easily.
But if you're just attached to a monetary figure, you’re not going to manifest it if if you're not truly motivated by it. Motivation is the key to change a behaviour. It's the key to overcoming your fears.
For any goal, don't just think that you want to get there. Or you want to work out three times a week. Ask yourself, why? How is that going to benefit feeling at the end of doing that? Because if you're not actually motivated, if you haven't given any thought to it, then that's going to be way less likely to be a successful goal.
Book recommendation.

I wanted to share this with you…
Like I assume for a lot of you, this lockdown has given me some much-needed time to reflect on what’s serving me and what isn’t.
I recently had the BIGGEST epiphany that I was using exercise and over-working to self-medicate, and push down my inner demons that were trying to come to the surface. No wonder I had been so burned out!!!
I then realised that I’ve always been self-medicating, when I was in my first job, I self-medicated through partying, my 2nd job was through co-dependency in my relationship (relying on it for my happiness), and now with my business, I’ve been self-medicating through over-working and over-exercising.
What I’ve realised is that I was actually running away from my problems, as I was absolutely terrified of sitting in the pain, as I knew it would be extremely uncomfortable.
Which is why I always made myself guilty for taking time off or for exercising, as I was scared that these dark thoughts would come to the fore, so I would distract myself.
Anyway, long story short, I had an injury in my left knee (your left side is your inner which is obviously no coincidence!) a month or two ago, which forced me to stop running or doing intense cardio. I also burned out from all this over-exercising and over-working that I couldn’t work as hard anymore.
So I couldn’t the two things that I was doing to avoid being with my thoughts, over-exercising and over-working, which of course meant that A LOT of my inner demons bubbled to the surface.
I’ve been allowing my inner demons to come to the surface over these past few weeks and it has been PAINFUL AS HELL! But now that I’ve healed my wounds and inner child, I have SO much more self-compassion and emotional resilience to get through ANYTHING the universe throws at me.
The thing that’s the most bizarre is that I have this chest tightness since I was about 19, so 6 years, when I developed anxiety at university. But since allowing my inner demons to come to the surface, and confront them gently, the chest tightness has just gone away. No word of a lie!
So trust me when I say, what’s on the other side of pain, pressure and darkness, is freedom, flow and light. I’ve genuinely never felt so at calm or at ease with my life, for the first time ever!
The reason why I’m sharing this is to say, whatever you’re going through, at the end of the darkness, there is light, even if you can’t see it right now. And of course, I’m always here, so feel free to reach out!
I also wanted to say that you don’t need to push to get what you want people, especially when it comes to your mindset! You have to let whatever wants to flow in, flow in, and sit with it. No matter how painful it is!
Guilt and pain dissipate, they’re painful as hell at first, but they will go away. The first cut is the deepest and the first hurdle is the highest. And all of the pain you’re feeling is preparing you for something greater, at least that’s what happened for me.
In fact, from my experience, the more painful it is, the bigger the breakthrough is going to be.
I’d also like to talk about resilience very briefly, as I feel that a lot of people have the wrong perception of resilience. They think it’s all about pushing, but it’s actually the opposite. It’s about allowing, and allowing is actually more painful than pushing.
Resilience is emotional self-care and self-compassion. If you practise these things, no matter what happens to you, you will always come out the other side stronger.
This alternative way is what I coach my clients on, so if you want to find out more, why not book in a FREE 1:1 1 hour coaching call with me? It’s worth £297, so amazing value!
So I’m curious… Have you ever had a spiritual awakening? Or, maybe even during l
I want you to grab your notepad and pen, and ask yourself:
Are you making fear a habit?
Are you choosing to be in fear?
Whatever we don't change, we choose and we choose how we react to situations. We can't choose situations. We can't choose how other people react or respond. We can only choose how we react or respond.
Jen says that we've not only made a habit out of smearing our fear, worry and doubt all over each other, but we pat ourselves on the backs for it, because we believe that it shows how much we care.
But when people put their fears on you, take a step back, have that pause between the stimulus and the response, which is so powerful and ask yourself: Is this coming from a place that's serving me? Is it coming from that place of fear? Is it coming from their belief that they're trying to impress on me? Should I take it on board or not?
It really is your decision, but it's important to take a minute to pause and to question what they're saying, rather than just taking it on board as gospel. Be respectful, of course there's no need to be rude or anything.
Fear lives in the future.
We worry if we’ll ever marry the person of your dreams, if our career will be successful, or if our kids will grow up to be successful.
But ask yourself, is it healthy for me to be scared of things that haven't even happened yet? Fear itself is made up because it hasn't even happened yet.
All it takes to turn the fear factor around is learning to be comfortable in, instead of terrified of, the unknown. This is done through faith. Is your fear greater than your faith in the unknown?
While you're asking yourself this, here's an empowering quote from Helen Keller: “life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces towards change and behave like free spirits. The presence of fear is strength un-defeatable”.
On the other side of your fear is freedom. When you push yourself outside of your comfort zone, freedom is on the other side. But you've got to get uncomfortable in order to get comfortable. You don't thrive in your comfort zone, you survive in your comfort zone. So you have to decide, do you want to thrive or survive?
View fear from your rear view mirror, no matter how intimidating your next great leap forward seems at the moment, it will be a pipsqueak when you look back on it someday. So, why wait?! Why not look at it through pipsqueak coloured glasses right now? Envision your challenges from the future. Look back on them from a place of victory, and they will lose much of their power to paralyse you.
Do you remember how nervous you were for your driving test? Or for your first day at work? Or a job interview? Or when you left your job to start a business?
Whatever it was, think how terrified you were and how that's now just a drop in the ocean. So, what you're scared of right now is going to be a drop in the ocean in the future.
I know I talk a lot about being present and mindful, but it’s important to put things in perspective and remember that, in the future, it probably won't really matter.
As Mel Robbins says, don't spend more than five minutes worrying about something that you won't care about in five weeks, five months, five years etc.
Our greatest fears are our greatest waste of time.
Remember that your fears are just in your mind, and they lose the power over you. How amazing would it be to not be paralysed by fear? When you find yourself letting fear push you around, look at it from a different perspective, start by breaking it down, finding out what it is that you're really afraid of.
And then flip it round to make it work for you. Not against you. Show it who's boss, feed your fear a suck it sandwich!
Break your fear down so you can really look at and diffuse what it is about a situation that's scaring you.
Fear is all about how you choose to look at things.
In case you hadn’t heard... If so, where the hell have you been?!...

In this episode, Ashley talks about the BIGGEST mistakes she sees her clients make.
The first is thinking that giving value is all about sharing “tips” or “information”...
The people who are reading content for tips are people who only want tips. They aren’t there to invest, they’re there for the free information.
The BIGGEST value you can give someone is a mindset shift, because that’s where it all starts. You could have the BEST strategy in the world, but if you don’t have the mindset for it, you won’t achieve the results you want.
The next mistake is focussing on the "FLOUR" (what they need, but aren’t aware of), instead of the "CAKE" (what they wanted and would do almost anything for)...
Ashley once worked with a client whose offer messaging was to help people overcome childhood trauma, but she wasn't getting any clients.
So she asked her, what is their childhood trauma costing them? And then, what is the desire that they want?
She was attracting women whose childhood trauma was costing them intimacy issues in their relationship. So they had a desire to be more intimate with their husband, but they didn’t understand what was holding them back.
So she repositioned her offer to target women who wanted to know how to be more intimate with their husband.
These women didn’t actually know that they had childhood trauma to overcome, so it’s no wonder that Ashley’s client wasn’t seeing results, as these women couldn’t relate to her messagings.
Helping her clients to overcome childhood trauma was the FLOUR, but improving the intimacy issues in their relationship was the CAKE.
Where Ashley sees most service-based entrepreneurs go wrong is creating a “whopper offer”, where they offer 50 million different problems and solutions into one offer. It’s not specific enough.
The client we discussed earlier is a prime example.
Ashley helped her to identify her favourite clients who got the best results, and then they dug into who they are and specifically how she helped them.
Ashley thinks that people don’t actually mean to create a whopper offer, it’s just that they haven't really established who their ideal client is and what they really want (the CAKE). So they make their offer more wide than deep.
The next mistake is focussing on the know, like, and trust factor over actually building relationships and selling...
People think that if they act the same as the gurus, people will know, like and trust them, and therefore buy. Then they end up acting and pretending to be somebody they aren’t, which is the least authentic thing we can do.
By following this know, like and trust factor, people end up creating content that doesn't even speak about what they do or how they help people, and then they start to get burnt out.
It comes from fear of rejection, judgment and criticism. But, what if fear wasn’t a factor? You can even journal this, and you’ll find that the reason you don’t have what you want is because of fear.
Dan Sullivan talks a lot about how a lot of people want confidence to take action, but he says, that's not how it works. You first have to make the commitment, and when you make the commitment to a goal, that’s when your primitive brain starts to freak out.
You made that decision in your prefrontal cortex, and then your amygdala, or primitive part of the brain, freaks out.
The next step is courage, you have to be courageous, not confident because courage means you're doing something, even though you're scared.
Then, when you actually have the courage to step out and do it, you do it over and over and over again, then you become capable. Because you're building your skillset and your resilience ultimately.
The more you get rejected, with sales for instance, the more capable you become, and confidence comes from knowing and feeling like you’re capable.
