और इस special एपिसोड में मैं लेके आया हूँ एक बहोत ही अलग तरह के guest को।
जब भी हम कोई इवेंट register करते हैं, और उसमें participate करते हैं, हमारा पूरा focus होता है उस event से maximum फ़ायदा उठाने का - to make it count. चाहे वो मक़सद अपना life की best race दौड़ने का हो, या उस event को enjoy करने का हो, या कुछ नयी यादें बनाने का हो। हमारा focus हम पर और हमारे goal पर होता है।
और सही भी है! क्यों ना हो भाई, पैसे दिये हैं, train किया है, कितने sacrifices करके start line तक पहुँचे हैं!
But because we get so engrossed in our own world, we rarely ever think about anybody else - the race organisers, their team, their efforts, for example.
कभी photographer के बारे में सोचा है? Apart from when you didn’t get your photos on time and wanted someone to scream at. We don’t really care about much else.
But these guys are artists, they’re craftsmen and sometimes they’re involved in more than just their mandate and put themselves in situations where they can capture the very essence of endurance sport through stories that touch, move and inspire us to toe the start line, yet again.
Today’s conversation is with Pushkar, who’s the founder of Bawray Banjarey, a beautiful community on Instagram, give it a follow for some enriching content. If you’ve run an ultramarathon, there’s a high likelihood that you would have seen Pushkar with a camera capturing running stories of triumph and misery in equal measure. This conversation captures Pushkar’s personal journey in great detail, and we touch upon a few conversations around running as well.

February 03, 2024 Heart matters exposed Ft. The DagaSaga
Today’s guest is someone who was going to be the first guest on The Find Your Ultra Podcast. But when we started recording in December last year, he was already on his annual ritual of his month-long Vipassana meditation Retreat.

I’m talking about Madhur Daga, better known on instagram as The DagaSaga. Madhur is the Managing director of a 700-crore company. He’s an amateur endurance athlete, who can be seen pounding the pavement on the roads around central Delhi in the early hours of the day. Madhur has finished numerous marathons and half marathons, an Ironman 70.3, and the world’s highest ultra marathon - The Khardungla challenge.

For me, what’s most inspiring is to see him rise early and be out there hustling every single day, and also to see his discipline when it comes to nutrition, as he shared all of this on his instagram.

But recently, something shocking happened. Despite living most aspects of his life by the book, Madhur was recently diagnosed with a heart condition. Him, and all his well-wishers including me, were in a state of disbelief. But Madhur decided to turn this life event into a period of learning. He worked with the best of doctors, he educated himself about his condition, and a lot more. He’s now on a mission to educate people about heart health, and believes that if he shares this knowledge, lives can be saved.

This message is super important and so we’ve divided this episode Into two sections - Section 01 is where we talk about heart health, and this is the part that I request you to watch watch/listen till the very end.

Section 02 is about - Madhur’s life. All the things that you want to know about the Daga Saga. If you ask me, this is an episode world listening start to end, but again, if you’re pressed for time, please pay attention to section, at the very least.

January 20, 2024 Ageless adventures of Susan hunt: Ironman, Marathon Des Sables, Mount Everest and a heck of a lot more!
Welcome back to the show, you guys! In today’s episode you’re about to meet one of my favorite guests ever. You’re about to meet Susan Hunt. Susan is an Australian, living in Delhi for the last 15 years. She took to endurance sports way back, and finished an Ironman Triathlon in 1991, in about 12.5hrs. She has run multiple ultra distance runs including the MDS, She has done some serious adventure racing, some open water swims, a lot of skiing, a lot of climbing and she’s been to the top of Mount Everest.

Susan is now 66, she’s fitter than most people half her age, and she has a ton of amazing things that she’s training for.

Today’s guest is Lt Col. Romil Barthwal, who’s an army veteran.
He’s an endurance athlete, a top one at that. He has qualified for the coveted Boston marathon, he has run La ultra 111 and made the non-ladakh category course record, he has covered a 185kms in a 24-hour stadium run, he has completed a Half iron distance triathlon, and he has been to the top of the highest place on earth - The Mount Everest.
He’s now an entrepreneur, running a venture that keeps him close to where his heart is - which is Mountain peaks. He runs this venture called Boots and Crampons helping people explore their adventurous sides and reach various mountain peaks, and in the process, discover new potential, new strengths, new and meaning.
What led him to all of this? What was his childhood like? How did he become a runner this good? What was it like to lead a team to the top of the Everest?

Let’s begin the year by talking about one of the most important yet most overlooked aspects of our health - ‘Sleep’.
Sleep is one of the most essential aspects of our daily life. It’s simple to understand as we all agree that we need sleep, it’s complicated as we disagree on how much we need.
It’s complicated as sacrificing on sleep to achieve our goals is even celebrated.
It’s complicated as we don’t understand the REAL IMPACT of a night’s sleep loss.
Most of us don’t even understand the impact of Chronic sleep loss, which is proven by well documented studies.
To tell you a few - Chronic sleep-loss is associated with increased likelihood of Dementia, heart disease, type-2 diabetes, obesity, and even cancers of Prostate, Breast, ovaries and Colon.
Some of the detrimental effects of lack of sleep can be felt, experienced by almost everyone - it can affect our ability to perform the simple daily tasks of working or driving.
So, if you’re let’s say struggling to lose weight, (which I’ve experienced), the cause could well be related to lack of sleep.
No supplements will work, if you’re not sleeping enough. Exercise will have detrimental effects if you’re not sleeping enough.
Sleep is the bedrock upon your entire life is built.

Aakash Nambiar is a barefoot runner from the beautiful state of Kerala.

Aakash is super passionate about traveling and running. He combines the two wherever he goes. He carries his Insta 360 camera, and documents his experiences on instagram, where he can be found by the name ‘barefootmallu’.

Since the pandemic, he has travelled to and worked from numerous places including Kashmir, Manali, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Bangalore, Spain, Portugal and a few more.

And wherever he has been, he has done a few long runs. For examples, he ran from
Abu dhabi to Dubai,
Madrid to Toledo in Spain
Peniche to Lisbon in Portugal

And he has done most of the LLRs that I’ve done. For those who don’t know, LLR stands for Last long run of the year. It’s a tradition we’ve followed for many years. We end the year running from one beautiful city to another and celebrate the year at a beautiful destination but not before we’ve done two back to back ultras distance runs. More on LLRs in a future episode perhaps.

This conversation though is a catchup with Aakash as he just came back from Kashmir, where he did a bunch of runs with the Indian army.

You’ll also hear us talk about Vaughan town- a program we’ve both done, if you haven’t heard of it, it’s a super interesting concept you should look forward to learning about.

Today’s guest barely needs an introduction as she’s been out and about in the fitness scene over over a decade. A Successful Entrepreneur, a marathoner, a community leader, a role model for many, and she’s a mother to her two beautiful dogs.

I’m talking about Reeti Sahai. Reeti is the first and as far as we know the only woman from Uttarakhand to run all the world major marathons and to have earned the coveted six star medal.

She’s also an endurance cyclist, a yogini, a mountaineer, and a certified functional trainer.

Over the last few years, Reeti has built a vibrant community called ‘Run With Reeti’ that has active folks who gather multiple times a week, at multiple locations over Delhi/NCR to run, and to run, to become better athletes, and celebrate the joy endurance sports has to offer!
