Hey kids
I love the chat I had this week the lovely Denise Devenish, a counsellor (slightly different from a therapist) who works predominantly with people from the music industry.
Here we go deep as we discuss the pressure around tolerance for booze, drugs and hedonism around music culture and how hard musicians can find it to reach out for help. I really enjoyed hearing about Denise's approach to helping people with their mental health, and I hope that our more general chat around all the different types of counselling and therapy is useful to someone out there.
You can find Denise on Instagram where she is @dd.counselling
You can find the Campaign Against Living Miserably here:

Another good place to start exploring theraputic options is MIND, which is here:

Hello everyone
As promised in the last solo episode here is the first episode of one of my new spin-off series ideas. Tea and Empathy. This will be a monthly event where I sit in a cafe and 'someone' turns up and chats to be about whatever it is they have going on, or is on their mind. It's all about having non-judgmental, empathetic conversations with people we might not otherwise engage with deeply, if at all.
In this opening episode I asked a guy called Ricky who sometimes is in a co-working space I use if he was up for telling me about what he gets up to while I am titting about doing podcast bits and hustling for coin.
I genuinely ended up learning and thinking about a few things I didn't know and hadn't thought about before, and it was nice to get a lil sharey time with someone I usually just nod at over my laptop.
This is very much an attempt to remind myself and others that when we talk to each other in real life, away from the bearpit of social media and the internet, that it leaves room for a bit more humanity, and empathy, especially if there's a nice cup of tea involved.
Hopefully together we can grow our little community into a fun and wholesome space that is exciting and creative and above all, positive.
I want everyone to have a chance to listen to this first episode to see if it's something that's your bag, but going forward Tea & Empathy episodes are going to be just for my lovely folks on Patreon. If you enjoy it and/or fancy supporting what we're doing with the show, maybe come check it out!
Big love ya'll
x

Hey everyone. I have done something a little different this week and recorded a super relaxed, reflective chat into my voicenotes app while lying on my bed. Which was then polished up by the new production hotshot I am about to tell you about.
I have had a few things I want to say that are more in the deep and meaningful zone and I just had it in my mind that saying it away from my desk mic in a really intimate way might give it a different feel. That turned out to be true in a good way (the part of my brain I accessed whilst talking) and also bad (i made some swallowing sounds like a dog drinking from a bowl which had to be edited out).
In this fresh-duvet-scented episode I tell you all about the forthcoming plans to solidify and expand the Stupid Hearts Club multiverse of content, talk about the odd feelings I get during the changing of the seasons, and some recent escapades noticing people struggling out there.
I hope listening to this one helps you feel like we have got each other a little bit cos that is my intention. Kind of like a non invasive hug, that you totally consented to.
Love and (AF) lager

Hello sods
I had a lovely chat with comedian and all round high achiever Wendy Wason this week. We talked about raising kids, her new fledgling film festival and the power of compassion. I absolutely love talking to Wendy, even when it's in a room that is too echoey, to have been a great choice to record a podcast. Enjoy!
PS Am going to follow this episode up with a solo about compassion as I have encountered various people that need help lately. Look after yourselves and each other everyone.
Love from Ma'am

Prepare to be troubled to your core, as longterm Stupid Hearts Club royal family member Alistair Griggs (fellow comedy writer) and I pull the milky skin back on our deeply unhealthy comedic power-struggle based relationship.
Let it be known, that I sometimes worry I am going too far with Griggs, but then he comes out with some of the crazy shit you are about to hear and I then realise that keeping this man in his place is absolutely essential to the survival of the human race.
Let the rains of change fall on us all!
I am your Father!

Hello persons of the Earth!
It's Captain Seaside again, with another lovely slice of chat for you. Last week I spoke to multi-podcaster, editor of Podbible Magazine and sinister nightclub promoter Stu Whiffen. Stu is a top geezer that I hit it off with after going on two of his 74 Podcasts (Off the Beat and Track, and Reach Out for Mental Health).
We talked about music, creativity and (taste warning) a game that I in no way condone, where people decorate their willies with fuzzy felt. Some of it is more mature than that bit, but let's be honest not by much. I now can't wait to see if Stu (my best new friend IN THE WORLD) can hold true to his promise taking me on a roadtrip to teach me about his new hobby of actual hashtage Vanlifing.
Enjoy!

Hold tight kids, it's about to get very stupid indeed on Stupid Hearts Club as regular guest Miles Chapman and I honk our way through what felt like a pretty funny if horribly immature chat about things we find visually depressing, including crap supermarket food, animals being used for entertainment and much more.
Question for you guys - I have been trying to do twiddly things I hope make the EQ and volume better on the last couple of episodes, how are we finding the noise levels? (LEVEL!)
Another episode will drop in a few days with top podmeister and Podbible editor Stu Whiffen, and there is a Bonus Patron only Noel Fanboy special coming to tell you all about my special visit to Noel-Land with Nanny. Stay tuned.
Love

Hello sods
I present to you episode 62 of Stupid Hearts Club in which fast talking comedy rascal Richard Hardisty, and myself take a swift turn from talking over each other about comedy dynamics, and suddenly find ourselves wandering quite deeply into territory that some listeners may want to prepare themselves for before jumping in.
We basically spent a lot of time talking about abusive behaviour, unhealthy relationships, controlling people, trauma, coercive control and other stuff like that, which was not the plan. Anyway, I think a lot of is quite engaging, but I want to be clear neither of are experts in this field (though both of us have experienced all sorts of nutty shit) so if you find it hard to hear people graspingly hypothesizing about something you may find personally painful just tread carefully, or turn it off if we're pissing you off!
I might talk about this subject a bit more on my own if there is a thirst for those kind of musings, as there is a lot of it about and I have done some learning about some of this stuff to help my own little rollercoaster along.
Anyway stay lucky, lots of love
Captain Seaside
NB: I have 'tried' to push the volume a bit with some garageband jiggery. It may be a while before I know what the right settings are. Sorry darlings x

Hello lovelies-
Yes hot on the heels of a more serious mental health chat in episode 61, we return to the wodge of laughter and bantere that make up the carbs of the Stupid Hearts Club multi-verse.
Comedian and actor Rose Johnson joins me this week for what turned out to be a delightful catch up about the world of comedy and some top insight into the sort of things a comedian has to navigate when putting a live act together. I love talking to Rose, she is loads of fun and she keeps the energy up far more than I ever do. It's kind of like borrowing a particularly intelligent puppy (with human teeth).
If you like listening to Roses sparkling personality you should check out the podcast she makes with with comedy gang-mates Camille Ucan (who we've already had on) and Beattie Edmondson, it's called Birthday Girls Houseparty and is about as much fun as you can in your ears.
Enjoy

Hey, how can a solo episode be a group hug? Press play and find out as I try and tread the line between giving vague advice without claiming to be an authority on mental health, at the same time as trying to share some empathy that you can smother on yourself, infused with my own reasonably substantial understanding of facing up to some mental health stuff as a result of the crazy-bonkers merry-go-round I myself exist on.
I mean what harm can it do to share eh guys (and girls and everyone else). So go for a wee walk, or have a lil lie down and let's all huddle up and get through the sticky stuff (not jizz) together.
