Where does your motivation come from? Does it come from people telling you that you can be better (external) or from within (internal). Jennifer explores ways in which only having external sources of motivation on race day or in big life challenges is not enough. To succeed, you have to find your why and build your internal source of motivation.

Perfectionism is the Achilles heel of any athlete, hell, any human. We are imperfect by nature, we are human. When we place perfect standards on ourselves, we set ourselves up for failure. That failure creates a cycle of self-doubt and leads to not going all in or not even getting started in the first place. In this episode, Jennifer shares how you can become aware of how perfectionism holds you back and what you can do about it!

Jennifer explores what happens when you go past what you think you are capable of and when you do that in sports, you can do that in all areas of your life. Fear is inevitable, but what you do with that fear is what matters. If you can be afraid and do it anyway, you can unlock limitless possibilities!

What is really holding you back? It is so easy to blame our circumstances, but that is both disempowering and inaccurate. Our thinking is what creates our results, not our circumstances. In this episode, Jennifer explores how she uncovers limiting beliefs and shifts how she sees herself and her possibilities. She also connects this to being an athlete and how to improve your performance by understanding your thinking.

Nothing is "happening" to you, but rather you are creating your own results and future through your thoughts, feelings, and actions. When you can take accountability for all your actions, even the ones you are ashamed of, it opens you up to all the parts of yourself, especially the parts you love. When you are accountable for everything, you can learn to create a life you love and not just wait for it to happen. Jennifer shares her own experiences of creating a fulfilling and adventurous life by being accountable for both the negative and positive aspects of her life. She encourages listeners to examine patterns in their own lives and take accountability for their role in them, as well as to recognize and cultivate the parts of themselves that lead to positive outcomes.

The hardest race I have ever done... by a lot! Snow, climbing, sheep, wrong turns, almost quitting, and how I used my mindset to get through it all with a strong performance. Living life to the max means living all parts of life to the max, the amazing parts and the parts when you want to quit. But with the right emotional, mental, and physical fitness, there is no better way to live!

In this episode, Jennifer talks about how to build a mindset for massive, scare the sh*t out of you, challenges. She believes a core part of building this mindset is by understanding and embracing fear. By doing this you can use your fear to power you forward instead of holding you back. She outlines the four steps in developing a mindset for massive challenges and uses her upcoming race at Swissman as an example.

Jennifer talks about shifting to a mindset of "Let Them." Let them think what they want to about you, let them be wrong about you, let them be right. We are hard-wired to care what people think about us, so much so that this pressure to receive validation from others becomes embedded in our self-beliefs. But just because you are hard-wired that way, doesn't mean you have to keep it as an operating program! Learn how to shift to a "Let them" mindset can help give you space to explore you really are and who want to be. At the end of the day, you determine your worth and your value. Just you.
