  • 24. (S1E24) Life by Design, Not Default with Christy Metcalf

In this episode, I’m talking with Christy Metcalf. Christy is the founder and President of C.E.O. Learning Systems. A family tragedy shaped her life, teaching her the importance of courage and perseverance. It also presented her with what she called a planned or arranged career. And she followed that plan, executed it perfectly and ended up miserable. So she used the courage that had been instilled in her and became an entrepreneur.

We chat about who supports you when you make decisions that don’t fit other people’s expectations of you, using visualization to lay out your future, and the importance of getting in tune with your thoughts and feelings. Because your thoughts direct your feelings, your feelings, direct your actions, and your actions direct your results. And then we get into what happens when you let emotions control you, what does failure even mean, and finding joy in your zone of genius.

Christy is an International Speaker, Trainer, Coach, Author, and Mentor with a true gift of helping clients identify what they want most, the roadblocks holding them back, and the plan to reach it. She believes that everything is figureoutable! Yes it is!

Her ultimate dream job is to one day is to live life in the fast lane driving the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile around the country, meeting fascinating people, and sharing their stories with the world.

  • 23. (S1E23) The Pain of Transformation vs the Pain of Regret with Jess Lilly

Today’s guest is Jess Lilly. Jess is a Heart-Centered Leadership Coach and coach trainer who is committed to creating a world full of empathetic, courageous leaders that understand it’s way more effective to play "heartball" than "hardball". She lives in Washington, DC with her loyal steed Aidan the dog, whom I’ve met and he is adorable.

There’s a lot in this conversation that hasn’t been covered in other episodes. I love that we talk about the difference between therapy and coaching, because I get this question a lot. We dive into how experiences don’t define who you are, how we are meant to be interconnected, but not codependent, and how we humans think there’s a version of life where there’s no pain.

And her Grandma Shirley makes an appearance as well. You will love Grandma Shirley.

  • 22. (S1E22) Meditation: Acceptance

If you’re like most people, you’re great at reliving the past over and over while worrying about what might happen tomorrow. This meditation is about acceptance. Acceptance of what actually IS, even if everything isn’t exactly as you’d like it to be. You may have heard the phrase, “what you resist, persists.” Add to that, “what you accept, you can change.”

Listen to this meditation when you’re struggling to accept a person, situation, or circumstance as it is and are frustrated because it’s not how you want it to be.

  • 22. (S1E22) Move Your Bananas To The Belt And Say Goodbye To Anxiety with Stephanie Dalfonzo

My guest in this episode is Stephanie Dalfonzo. In her past life as an on-air radio personality – she was known as Stevie Knox. She was also the first automated voice back in the day. Stephanie and I have a lot of mutual connections, but we didn’t cross paths until recently. And I’m so glad we did.

Our conversation ranges from her use of the Law of Attraction before she even knew what it was, to learning how to cope with anxiety, which for her, started with beating the crap out of a bag of Cheetos. And from wearing metaphorical masks to witnessing miracles.

As an Integrative Hypnotist, Stephanie uses her voice to literally hypnotize her clients into making incredible life changes. Through hypnosis, she helps women entrepreneurs get out of their own way, see the possibilities of where they can go and how to get there.

  • 21. (S1E21) Creating From Your Own Heart with Lisa Winneke

My guest in today’s episode is known as The Wholehearted Woman and you’ll hear why when you listen. Lisa Winneke is a Visionary and Leader who is passionate about supporting women - and men - to cultivate the commitment, compassion and courage required to transform their lives and relationships, so they can embody their authentic selves and create a life, from their hearts, that lights them up from the inside out!

In the first few minutes, I ask Lisa a very personal question I thought twice about before putting it out there. But I felt like I had to ask. She was very gracious in answering. Then we get into the wisdom of children, how she holds space and processes her own feelings while holding space for her son’s pain when he lashes out at her, finding compassion for yourself and not responding with fear, hurt, and projection.

And how, as entrepreneurs, we’re both still working on pushing back on the voice inside telling us we need to be doing more to achieve success, instead of allowing ourselves to be in a state of flow where life is working for you.

Lisa’s hype song is A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay: https://open.spotify.com/track/0FDzzruyVECATHXKHFs9eJ?si=DbhJf6x4SkqWhUi8xs0UVQ&dl_branch=1

  • 20. (S1E20) Meditation: Intuition

The focus of today’s meditation is on heightening your intuition so you can make better decisions. We all have intuitive abilities. Some people are more in tune with them than others. All the answers you need are within you. You just need to adjust the dial to tune into them and get quiet enough to hear them. So if you haven’t tapped into yours lately, invite them back into your world now.

  • 20. (S1E20) She Put An “H” On Her Chest And Handled It with Sparkle Lindsay

Sparkle Lindsay is a woman of many strengths. She joins me in today’s episode to discuss her journey from WNBA prospect to corporate executive to influential speaker and addictions coach. As the oldest of five children, Sparkle started taking care of everyone else right from the beginning, in what she calls the “fix it role.” She carried that responsibility around and played that part so well, no one knew she was using drugs and alcohol to mask her pain.

There are several places in her story where you might get chills. And even if you haven’t faced the same heart-breaking experiences – we each have our own. You’ll relate to her stuffing down emotions, not wanting to appear weak, and putting other people’s well-being ahead of your own. And you’ll laugh at her inability to turn off that fix it role even as she was being taken off to jail with a lethal amount of alcohol in her system.

Man, she has such a triumphant spirit!

Two years and four months later, Sparkle is an inspiring speaker, published author and a nationally certified recovery coach based in Colorado, helping light the way for others on their journeys.

Here's Sparkle's hype song: Make it happen, by Mariah Carey, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q6xx0JfMBI

  • 19. (S1E19) Meditation: Interconnectedness

This meditation is about appreciation and interconnectedness. Every day we interact with countless products, people and experiences. We face hundreds of situations. Everything in your life, from the lunch you eat to the clothes you wear to the streets you travel on has a story behind it. It exists because someone had an idea. Someone – maybe even thousands of someones – put in work, commitment, and love to make it real.

"Fine" is a lie leaders tell themselves — and it costs them their people, their culture, and their impact.
