First Baptist Church Crothersville - Sermons/Podcast

When God's people, empowered with His Spirit, proclaim His message...people take notice. It’s not about KEEPING RULES, but about KNOWING CHRIST. It’s not just about BEING SAVED, but also about BEING CHANGED. It’s not about WAITING for Christ, but also about WORKING for Him.

We have been given the same task as the disciples: Go and be witnesses for God. Are you willing to trust God? Are you willing to go back to the cross and dream again? Are you willing to change the world?

A widow came to Elisha after her husband had died. Her husband had owed a great debt and the man was going to take her two sons as slaves. Because of the woman's faith, God made it possible to pay off the debt and have enough money left over to care for her and her two sons.

Do you realize the power of your words? Proverbs 18:21 says, "The tongue has the power of life and death..." Jesus' words and promises, spoken by your mouth have tremendous power. Speak life!

In Genesis, man's blood became corrupted by the entrance of sin. Sinless blood was needed to redeem man. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness, but the blood of Jesus is the payment for our sins. Through Jesus, we are made JUST – righteous through His blood and no more enemies of God! Just as if we had never sinned!

The Power of Forgiveness is that it has the ability to bring REAL freedom in our lives. But there is a responsibility we have to let the forgiveness given to us be released to others that may ‘owe us some debt.’ It is not easy. But it is what works! That is where the real Power Comes in!

In this day and age we've made the cross into every kind of sparkly, trendy jewelry you can imagine. Half of the stars in Hollywood wear a cross around their neck. People wear crosses on chains, earrings, big diamond crosses; and many of their lives look nothing like the Christ who died on the cross. The world has done its best to make the cross cool, but the cross is NOT COOL.

Through Jesus you are pulled out by the roots, from the power/authority of darkness, and translated or transplanted in the Kingdom of His son, of His love! There is no tug-of-war apart from in your mind and soul. In Heaven it's settled! Once that gets settled in you...your life will change!

When the crowd heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem, they took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" On Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ; the day the great crowd gathered in Jerusalem to welcome their king. But who were these people who came out to see Jesus and why were they there?

"Backsliding starts in such a subtle way that most of us are not aware of it, and many of us may be backslidden and may not realize it."
