  • First Love Ep. 84 - Remember the Rehearsal Puts You Before the Giant

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas reflect on the season casting conference and the upcoming documentary The Purim Cycle, then continue through the Valley Gate with David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. They explain that David did not let Goliath reveal anything he had not already encountered with the Lord, connecting this to rehearsal, the Hebrew word for convocation in Leviticus 23, and the feasts as rehearsals. Israel saw a threat and feared, while David remembered the lion and the bear. They say the brain's prediction can serve God's glory, that David was formed in the valley and crowned in the palace, and that what we conquer privately prepares us for what we confront publicly.

Topics Covered: Valley Gate, David and Goliath, 1 Samuel 17, Rehearsal Before the Call, Convocation in Leviticus 23, Threat Versus Remembrance, The Lion and the Bear, Brain Prediction, Formed in the Valley

  • First Love Ep. 83 - Don't Stumble Through the Valley, Choose to Walk Through It

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their teaching on stress and the valley test by looking at biblical figures, beginning with Joseph. They offer a buffet analogy for taking in one thing at a time, and ask whether ancient truth went deep or was choked by the cares of this world. They walk through Joseph's valley from the pit to slavery, Potiphar's wife, and prison, noting his integrity in Genesis 39 as he reaches for his relationship with God. They also point out his later reaction with the request to be remembered, and later his response to his brothers. They conclude that repetition is preparation so you walk in rather than stumble in.

Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas

Topics Covered: Stress Test of Biblical Figures, Joseph in Genesis 39, Integrity Under Pressure, Respond vs. React, Time Testing the Heart, Trusted With Power, Repetition as Preparation, Walk In Not Stumble In

  • First Love Ep. 82 - The Valley, God's Stress Test

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas return to the descent into the valley, asking whether God called you up or down. They explain that God takes you down the mountain to test what you have been given, mainly through resistance and stress. Using a cardiac stress test as an illustration, they show how pressure reveals what the heart cannot sustain, and they discuss how being stressed can become a coping mechanism. They introduce an acronym for stress: situation, trigger, response or reaction, exposure, selection, and strengthening. A family story about an audition illustrates responding rather than reacting. They also reframe repetition as another chance to hear God rather than judgment.

  • First Love Ep. 81 - The Mountain Carries Responsibility into the Valley

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue the mountain and valley series, cautioning against conference culture and chasing glory from peak to peak. They ask whether an experience changes how you treat people afterward. Referencing Psalm 23, they show how truth carried from the mountain shifts a response from panic to presence. Using the hippocampus, they explain that revelation must become memory. They also stress that the mountain is never for feeling superior, that Moses climbed empty-handed and returned with something for the nation, and that commandments must become commitments, covenants, and culture. They close by contrasting kairos and chronos, and by noting that water flows down into the valley to nourish.

Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas

  • First Love Ep. 80 - The Valley Requires You Share What You Heard on the Mountain

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their mountain and valley series with Moses. They explain why the first tablets were broken and how the law could not sustain without the Spirit. They describe the mountain as concentrated encounter and the valley as integrated embodiment, adding that elevation increases responsibility rather than making anyone superior. Drawing on neuroscience, they discuss limited attentional resource, competing sensory input, and cognitive reappraisal, and note that what feels like a new revelation is often an ancient truth repeated until it is lived. They also cover acclimatizing to higher altitude as a picture of character formation, and ask whether the mountain is meant to separate you so you can serve the crowd.

  • First Love Ep. 79 - Mountains Are for Revelation, Valleys Are for Implementation

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas ease back in after their annual Season Casting conference, recalling the weekend's prophetic presentations and the word for the year of Zion. They then open a new teaching on the difference between the mountain and the valley. The mountain gives perspective, while the valley shows where you are and lets God regulate what was revealed. Using Moses in Exodus 32, they explain that revelation on the mountain must be implemented in the valley, where dysfunction continues until it is governed. They discuss how stress narrows attention toward threats, why neither place is a permanent dwelling, and how thin mountain air illustrates carrying responsibility. Obedience, they say, is sometimes come up higher and sometimes get down.

  • First Love Ep. 78 - From Self-Sufficient to Son, Capacity Is Not Permission

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue through the Valley Gate while announcing that Season Casting begins that night at Times of Refreshing Christian Center in Manhattan. They contrast the Tower of Babel, where man ascends to make a name, with Jesus, who descends and is given the name above all names. They explain that independence can look successful and even godly, and that capacity is not permission, with a personal testimony of giving a choice back to God. They unpack the biology of independence and the brain's drive for prediction and control, and describe independence as making your ability your source and as the original sin. They close with an acronym for down and the wilderness Israelites, and note that Jesus depended fully on the Father.

Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas

  • First Love Ep. 77 - The Way Up Is Down, Descending into Dependence

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their Valley Gate teaching, revisiting the "Jesus died spiritually" doctrine and showing that Jesus never manufactured His own ascent but waited for the Father to raise Him. They trace the downward path in Philippians 2 and say the valley reveals whether we can live from our identity when our environment stops affirming it. They discuss Jesus entering sorrow without letting it become His identity, and how the valley exposes our response to provision as well as pain. They speak about maturity, the danger of self-promotion, and the mountain versus the valley. They also explain that stress is meant to be balanced and handled, that "no thing" apart from Christ can be done, and that the cross stands beside resurrection.

Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas

  • First Love Ep. 76 - The Great Descent, From I Can to Your Will

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue through the Valley Gate, looking at the physiology of the valley and how Jesus experienced it in Gethsemane. They describe the body's fight-or-flight response and say these signals are symptoms to process in God's presence, not proof of a threat. They explain that Jesus asked why in the right way and stayed connected to the Father. They present the pattern of going down to come up, moving from the valley of dependence to "not my will, but Yours," and challenge the teaching that Jesus died spiritually, citing Psalm 22. They also compare the wilderness temptations and the cross to the question of self-preservation, and say sonship can kneel because identity is settled while insecurity needs elevation.

Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas

  • First Love Ep. 75 - Silence Is Connection, Learn to Ask the Why

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue through the Valley Gate, explaining how pressure exposes the automatic brain and reveals what we have truly been feeding on. They ask whether God can trust us with His silence, using marriage as an example of silent intimacy. They point out that Jesus received only three public affirmations from the Father and never lost His first love. They say silence is connection, not rejection, and that belief lives in the heart while what we rehearse shapes our automatic responses. They walk through how the hippocampus, amygdala, insula, anterior cingulate cortex, prefrontal cortex and basal ganglia react to pressure. They also stress asking God why, tied to Jeremiah 1:5, as the question that exposes the schema and returns us to His original plan.

Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas
