Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas broadcast from their new studio, now airing Monday to Friday, and continue the Fish Gate with the biology of hearing. They explain that identity is formed by listening, not speaking, and that obedience changes not what we hear but how we hear. Using the fish's lateral line, which senses the movement of water, they picture the Holy Spirit stirring within us for inner transformation, and they contrast the outer ear, which hears circumstances, with the inner ear. They distinguish sheep from fish, walk through Jesus' call to come, follow, and abide, and note that the Hebrew word for hearing is tied to obeying. They also stress fine-tuning, since God, the enemy, and our own thoughts all come through one channel.

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue the fish gate series, teaching that God changes identity before He changes behavior. Following Peter's call in Matthew 4:19, they explain that discipleship means imitating Jesus, and that lasting change requires a new belief, not only new behavior. They share the idea of macro munching: choosing one small change and practicing it in three 21-day cycles so the brain rewires through neuroplasticity, likening it to chewing food before swallowing. They discuss rehearsing thoughts, the scrolling generation's expectation of instant change, and Romans 12:2-3, noting that you cannot have a new mind overnight. They also touch on the nervous system's stress response and Peter's impetuousness. Their encouragement is that one small consistent change can shift the wiring of the brain, and that the greatest miracle happened within Peter.

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue the fish gate series by looking at the psychology of following Jesus. They stress that broken people serving can only create more brokenness, that healing and service can grow together, and that being a human being comes before being a human doing. Reading Matthew 4:19 in parts, they show that Peter had to stop following what he had followed, and that Jesus, not Peter, does the making. They discuss identity-based behavior, the belief behind every decision, and Peter's motive and method being off when he tried to make Jesus follow him. Jesus calls us out not merely of what we were doing but of who we thought we were. They also note that Peter's transformation began by spending time in Jesus' presence, and that Jesus' words I will make you are the anchor when we fail.

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas move from healing to purpose with the fish gate of Nehemiah 3. They explain that the fish gate supplied and fed the city, so the greatest healing is changing what supplies your life. Using Matthew 4:19, they show that Jesus said to Peter, follow me and I will make you fishers of men, forming his identity before giving an assignment. They connect this to neuroplasticity and discipleship as repeated obedience that creates new thinking, and to Jacob learning to walk anew after his hip was touched. Peter wanted the assignment without identity formation, and the hosts encourage listeners to let the Holy Spirit give them a new identity before a new assignment. They add that Jesus leads the sheep before He heals them, and that new mercies come as we are discipled into new responses.
Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas
Topics Covered: The Fish Gate, Purpose and Provision, Changing What Supplies Your Life, Follow Me and I Will Make You, Peter's Discipleship, Neuroplasticity, Jacob's Hip and a New Way of Walking, Identity Before Assignment

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas explain why the Pool of Bethesda sits beside the sheep gate: healing comes before purpose, because the death of the old life does not automatically heal its damage. From John 5 they explore the meaning of Bethesda as house of mercy, the five porches as grace, and why Jesus, who created the water, stepped in Himself rather than waiting for it to be stirred. They discuss the excuses and coping systems the paralyzed man built, and the question of whether we want to be made well. They also explain the brain's autopilot, or default mode, and how coping can be mistaken for healing. They note that God is not killing you but killing what has been killing you, such as fear, shame, and rejection. The message: do not ask for the water; ask for Him.
Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas
Topics Covered: Pool of Bethesda, Healing Before Purpose, House of Mercy, Five Porches of Grace, Jesus as the Stirrer of Waters, Excuses and Coping Systems, Autopilot and Default Mode, Identity Over Activity

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas introduce First Love as it expands to a daily Monday-to-Friday time slot, sharing their backgrounds and their aim to make Jesus real, relevant, and relational. They launch a new series on the gates of Nehemiah 3, explaining that gates are meant to be walked through, not stood at, and that each gate is an entry point to a conversation with the Lord. Beginning with the sheep gate, they teach that before we can walk as the man of God we must become the lamb, laying down the old life. Drawing on 2 Corinthians 5:17 and 3:18, they describe salvation as a process of becoming new, and explain neuroplasticity as new thoughts strengthening new pathways while old ones fade, as Romans 12 describes.

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Nathan Kassas and Dr. Robyn Kassas bring their Pool of Bethesda series to a close. From John 5 they show that many entered the water yet were not healed—healing is ultimately about identity, not activity. Jesus did not wait for the water; He is the One who created and moves upon it. The man had to grow weary of the mat that had become his security blanket, then rise and walk in active faith. The hosts unpack neuroplasticity: renewing the mind is not receiving a new idea but deconstructing old pathways and repeatedly practicing agreement with truth until a new way becomes natural. Instant healing still required learning to walk; the testimony is not merely the old life dying but what Christ builds where it once lived. This is also their final Monday-night broadcast as they move to a new daily timeslot.

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their Gates of Jerusalem series (Nehemiah 3), remaining at the Pool of Bethesda near the Sheep Gate. From John 5 they examine the man infirm for 38 years whose hope rested in stirred water, human help, and being first. Jesus does not compete with the man’s coping systems or place him in the pool; He confronts the identity formed around the condition and commands, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” The hosts unpack autopilot compensation, the safety of familiar dysfunction, responsibility as the ability to respond, and the call to carry what once carried you—recognizing not the stirring of the water but the One who created it and now stands before it.

Topics Covered: Gates of Jerusalem Series, Pool of Bethesda, John 5, Stirring of the Waters, Identity Confrontation, Autopilot & Coping Mechanisms, Rise–Take–Walk, Responsibility as Ability to Respond, New Identity in Christ

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their series on the gates of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3), focusing on the Sheep Gate as the place of surrendering the old life and the adjacent Pool of Bethesda as the necessary place of healing. They challenge the “get saved and serve” model, insisting healing must precede ministry so broken people do not wound others. Drawing from John 5, the five porches of grace, the man who waited 38 years, Psalm 23, and the bitter waters of Marah, they show that God must stir still waters to restore the soul. Believers often develop an identity around stagnation and protect the analysis of their pain instead of participating; true becoming is an ongoing process that requires surrendering both the condition and the story told about it.

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their series on the gates of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3), focusing on the Sheep Gate as the vital first conversation with God. They correct the common misunderstanding of 2 Corinthians 5:17, explaining that we are not instantly “become new” but are continually becoming new—an ongoing process of transformation (present tense in the Greek).
The Sheep Gate represents surrender and sacrifice of the old life, leading to the Pool of Bethesda (House of Mercy) for healing the lingering effects of the old nature. Drawing on Psalm 23, neuroscience (neuroplasticity and renewing the mind), and the story in John 5, they emphasize that the Shepherd leads us beside still waters that must be stirred for restoration. True healing requires full surrender; God does not leave us empty but fills and restores us progressively through relationship.
