Transport Minister, Blade Nzimande has expressed concern over the spike of fatal road crashes involving public transport. This after 14 people died when a taxi overturned near Greytown in KwaZulu Natal last night. Earier this week, another thirteen people including three children, died and more than fifty others were injured in a bus crash at Satansnek between Ngcobo and Elliot in the Eastern Cape. The number of people crossing the Beit bridge border has drastically increased, for the Easter long weekend. More than twenty-two thousand people having crossed into Zimbabwe at the border post in Musina in Limpopo in the last twenty-four hours. Tsepiso Makwetla spoke to our reporter at the Beit Bridge Border, Michael Makungo, who says law enforcement, is monitoring various points of entry and to our other reporter Pimani Baloyi, who says there is heavy traffic congestion on the R71 between Polokwane and Mankweng, as thousands of ZCC congregants make their way to Moria.

The chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Francois Beukman says there should be proper vetting and lifestyle audits of members within the South African Police services. This after the Independent Police Investigative Directorate(IPID), highlighted attempts by members of the SAPS to bribe senior officials investigating corruption. Speaking to us earlier on, Beukman says there should be batter corporation between IPID and SAPS when it comes to investigations

Traffic is expected to be congested on the N1 road between Polokwane and Musina as thousands of holiday makers travel from various provinces to Limpopo and neighbouring countries for the Easter holidays. The transport department in Limpopo says it is ready to receive thousands of motorists in the province including a large numebr of ZCC members traveling to Moria for their annual Easter pilgrimage. The Nelson Mandela Bay no confidence vote has been delayed for a second time after as chaos erupted at special council meeting in Port Elizabeth this morning. A motion of no confidence against Mayor Athol Trollip‚ tabled by the EFF‚ was set to be discussed.
