Masekela's music portrays the struggles and joys of living in South Africa, and voiced protest against slavery and discrimination.   • Suspected drug dens torched by Krugersdorp residents
    Protestors are engaged in running battles with the police in the Krugersdorp CBD west of Johannesburg. A vehicle workshop has been set on fire. Earlier police battled to keep the situation under control in Munsieville where crowds blockaded roads near the police station that was torched earlier today. Houses have also been torched. In Kagiso, several police vehicles were damaged. The protest was sparked by the abduction of a girl who was found at one of the drug dens allegedly owned by a foreign national.   • Zille asks Zuma to declare Western Cape a disaster area
    Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille is taking charge of the Western Cape Water Crisis. Zille says she has written to President Jacob Zuma this weekend asking that the province be declared a disaster area. Dam levels have dropped to 27-point-six percent in the Cape this week.
