Preliminary findings indicate that one of the trains involved in the accident that claimed one life and left more than 200 injured drove past the danger signal. The accident occurred when one of the trains crashed into a stationery train at the Denver station in Johannesburg yesterday (Tuesday). The police and national guard troops have enforced a new curfew on tuesday night in Baltimore in response to ONGIONG riots. The curfew is set to last for the whole week and all residents are expected to be indoors by 10:00pm to 5:00am. An exception will only be made to those who are going to work or are attending to medical emergency. So far rioters have set ablaze 19 buildings and 144 vehicles, with more than 250 arrested and 20 police officers arrested

21 striking workers at Eskom's Medupi power plant in Lephalale, Limpopo, who'd been taken in for questioning by police have been released. They were allegedly among the striking workers who were intimidating their non-striking colleagues. The workers earlier blockaded roads in the area. Thousands of workers are demanding to be paid ten-thousand rand bonuses for the completion of unit six of the station.

The number of people known to have been killed in Saturday's devastating earthquake in Nepal has risen to more than five-thousand. The government says it's been overwhelmed by the scale of the catastrophe and is struggling to respond to appeals for help. Meanwhile, a group of South African mountain climbers survived the earthquake and they are yet to make a decision weather to continue with their quest to summit Mount Everest or not. President Jacob Zuma has called on South Africans to be tolerant. He made the call during Freedom Day celebrations at the Union buildings in Pretoria following recent attacks on foreign nationals. Dignitaries including Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa are attending the celebrations. President Zuma says in light of the 21 years of freedom, South Africans should make their country a better place to live In.

The Constitutional Court has ordered the Road Accident Fund to pay compensation to children orphaned by a road accident. The highest court rejected the RAF's argument that paying out claims for loss of support would amount to double compensation because the children already benefited from Foster Care Grants.
