The number of people known to have been killed in Saturday's devastating earthquake in Nepal has risen to more than five-thousand. The government says it's been overwhelmed by the scale of the catastrophe and is struggling to respond to appeals for help. Meanwhile, a group of South African mountain climbers survived the earthquake and they are yet to make a decision weather to continue with their quest to summit Mount Everest or not. We earlier caught up with the team leader of climbing expedition on Mount Everest.

President Jacob Zuma has called on South Africans to be tolerant. He made the call during Freedom Day celebrations at the Union buildings in Pretoria following recent attacks on foreign nationals. Dignitaries including Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa are attending the celebrations. President Zuma says in light of the 21 years of freedom, South Africans should make their country a better place to live In.

The Department of Social Development and Ekurhuleni Municipality, this morning were in Primrose, Germiston East of Johannesburg launching a campaign with an attempt to reintegrate the foreign nationals into their communities .

The Constitutional Court has ordered the Road Accident Fund to pay compensation to children orphaned by a road accident. The highest court rejected the RAF's argument that paying out claims for loss of support would amount to double compensation because the children already benefited from Foster Care Grants.
