The government will inject two-billion-rand into sports development over the next seven years if Durban wins the 2022 Commonwealth Games bid.

A forensic report into alleged impropriety in the sale of Cosatu's old head office and purchase of a new one in Johannesburg has implicated general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi. The report, by auditing firm Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo shows that the auditors have not been able to meet Vavi despite attempts to do so. Cosatu deputy general secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali says a letter will be written to Vavi, asking him to meet with the auditors. Vavi's stepdaughter was reportedly involved in one of the companies that worked on the head office transaction. Ntshalintshali meanwhile says Cosatu has been served court papers by metalworkers union Numsa challenging its suspension. Meanwhile, COSATU held a media briefing in Johannesburg following a three day Central Executive Committee meeting.

Former Lesotho Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili of the Democratic Congress and deputy prime minister, Mothetjwa Metsing of the Lesotho Congress for Democracy have signed an agreement to form a coalition with five other parties. The deal will make Mosisili leader of the coalition with Metsing his deputy. The development came after the Independent Electoral Commission announced the final results of the election. The urgent application by Khulubuse Zuma has been dismissed with costs by the High Court in Pretoria. Zuma was seeking to nullify the Master of the High Court ruling that upheld creditors' 1-point-five billion rand claim against Aurora Empowerment Systems and its directors, who include Zuma. Lawyers representing President Jacob Zuma's nephew approached the court to reverse the Master's decision.

Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says his absence at the Central Executive Committee meeting currently underway is to send a message that the unity of the federation should come before the egos of the leaders. Vavi announced on his twitter page that continuing with the gathering with half of the affiliates refusing to participate, is not the best way to unify the federation. Seven unions, including SAMWU, CWU, Denosa and Fawu, continued with their boycott of the CEC meeting.
