In this episode of the SeaBros Fishing Podcast, Capt. Taylor Sears tells the full story about catching the largest male shortfin mako shark in the world (recorded scientifically). There are truly some parts of this adventure that are right out of the movie "Jaws".

This beast of a fish was caught back in August of 2009 (Correction! We say 2010 in the episode) while tuna fishing on Stellwagen Bank. Taylor was running one of the Mass Bay Guides charter boats with Capt. Tom King and a charter family of four. They hooked a 180lb bluefin on the kite, and the mako bit it in half during the fight! The story only gets crazier... An incredible dart shot, broken leader, pulling poly balls underwater, engine issues, and a tow home for Old Greg.

The fish ended up weighing 624lbs and was weighed on a certified IGFA scale.

What's great about this story is, it proves...you just never know what could happen during an offshore fishing trip.
