Fishing the DMV

On this episode of Fishing the DMV, I am joined by none other than VA Elite 70 Alpha Series Angler of the Year Champion, Brandon Pritchett! Brandon has proven himself as one of the most consistent regional sticks, competing in both Major League Fishing and Bassmaster events, where he’s racked up multiple Top-10 finishes. This season, he claimed the Elite 70 Alpha Series AOY title, further cementing his reputation across fisheries like Smith Mountain Lake, the Chowan River, and the James River—just to name a few.

With over two dozen professional tournaments and nearly $11,000 in career winnings, Brandon brings a wealth of knowledge and competitive insight to the show. In this conversation, we’ll break down his tournament strategies, go-to baits, and step-by-step approach to dissecting Virginia’s toughest fisheries. Most importantly, we’ll talk about what it really takes to stay consistent, no matter what body of water you’re on.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior looking to sharpen your skills or a die-hard competitor chasing the next trophy, this episode is packed with strategies and lessons you can put to work right away. Don’t miss the chance to learn from one of the rising stars in Mid-Atlantic tournament fishing!

On this exciting Monday Night Live of Fishing the DMV, I’m joined by tournament angler Matt McCluskey, fresh off a Top 10 finish in the Potomac River Toyota Series. Matt gives us a behind-the-scenes look at how he pieced together his tournament success, breaking down the baits, areas, and decisions that made the difference.

We also dive deep into what makes the fall season on the Potomac River so unique. As the water cools and daylight shortens, bass begin chasing baitfish aggressively, setting up some of the best feeding opportunities of the year. From grass flats loaded with shad, to main-river points where smallmouth stack up, Matt shares how to adapt to these seasonal movements and maximize your time on the water.

He explains how current, tide, and water clarity can play huge roles in fall success on the Potomac — and how knowing when to target shallow grass lines versus deeper channel edges is the key to consistency. Whether you’re a weekend angler looking for your next fall pattern or a tournament fisherman trying to put the puzzle together, Matt’s tips will give you a serious edge.

This is an episode packed with local knowledge and practical advice you won’t want to miss!

On this exciting episode of Fishing the DMV, I sit down with Susquehanna River legend Joe Raymond for an in-depth conversation about his life, his guiding career, and how the river is fishing this fall. Joe has been a staple on the Susquehanna since 2012, building his reputation as one of the most respected anglers and guides on the river.

From wading small creeks as a kid to buying his first boat in his 20s, Joe’s journey has always led back to the Susquehanna. Over the years, he’s developed an unmatched instinct for reading current, locating structure, and consistently finding fish—skills that have made him both a sought-after guide and a proven tournament competitor.

In this episode, Joe shares a fall Susquehanna River fishing report, insight into what makes this fishery so unique, and stories from his life on the water. We also dive into his career milestone on September 22, 2024, when he landed the biggest recorded smallmouth bass ever caught on the Susquehanna: a 24-inch, 7.08 lb giant during a Bassmaster Open in Williamsport.

Whether you’re a fan of river fishing, chasing trophy smallmouth, or just love hearing from the legends of the sport, this is an episode you won’t want to miss!

Here it is, ladies and gentlemen—we’ve officially wrapped up the nearly two-month-long Sizzlin’ Summer Showdown! 🎉

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who participated. This event was an absolute blast, and it wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Looking ahead: by mid-September I’ll announce whether our next event will be in October or if we’ll go straight into the Holiday Bass Bash. Honestly, that decision depends on finances—up to now I’ve been the main financial backer of every event, but I’m hoping to line up sponsors or steady work to help keep things rolling.

Quick side note for the club: the Weekend Warrior Membership on Patreon closes to new members on Wednesday, September 10 at midnight. If you’re not already a monthly supporter, you won’t be able to sign up for future events—no exceptions. Once I close it, it will remain shut to the public for the foreseeable future.

If you’re already a member, don’t worry—you’re locked in at just $6 a month.

On this exciting episode, I’m joined by Andrew Blair, owner of Tactical Fishing Company. Snakehead fishing has exploded in popularity across the Mid-Atlantic, fueled by federal funding for invasive species programs in Maryland and Virginia and a huge push encouraging anglers to remove snakehead from our waters. But alongside that, an equally passionate community of anglers has emerged dedicated not just to catching snakehead, but also to celebrating and advocating for their protecting this unique species!!

Andrew and I dive into what makes the snakehead fishing culture so unique, from the controversy around their presence to the thrill of targeting these hard-fighting fish. Andrew also shares his personal journey—transitioning from service in the U.S. Army, to becoming a kayakangler, and ultimately founding Tactical Fishing Company.

If you’ve ever been curious about the culture, controversy, and passion behind snakehead fishing, this is an episode you won’t want to miss!
