Five For Two Careers episodes

  • EP 133. Negotiating Remote or Hybrid work

Obviously applying to roles already advertising remote or hybrid work is what you should do if that's what you are looking for.

But those roles are steadily declining, plus what if you already love where you work just not the current working patterns?

This episode will not tell you how to negotiate remote/hybrid work on jobs advertising explicitly no remote/hybrid options BUT it will talk you through how to negotiate them just like you would salary, pension, annual leave and more.

    • How I have been negotiating remote/hybrid for more than 10 years
    • How I have helped my clients negotiate remote/hybrid using my first 90 days method
    • When you shouldn't try negotiating remote/hybrid and when you should
    • Why you can't say something doesn't work if you've never tried
    • How being an Asset is key in getting this to work at your current job

  • EP 130. Are you Hard to replace?

No one is irreplaceable at a company, but you can make it hard for them.

In this current job climate full of chaos and uncertainty there are a few things you can do to make it harder for a company to let you go and make it easier for you to negotiate & secure higher salaries, plus access better opportunities.

Being hard to replace has helped me and my clients secure 20 - 50k pay rises and survive company restructures.

It is definitely a big element in how I was able to first negotiate part time hours for full time money.

I want anyone listening to this episode to be able to use this same thing to their advantage, so I share....

    • How to be harder to replace
    • The on the job actions & knowledge that helps you be an asset
    • How solving problems and streamlining processes can keep you employed

  • EP 129. How to become a Leader and Thrive as an Introvert w/Lissa Appiah

This week I am joined by the lovely Lissa Appiah where we talk about being an introvert and thriving in the workplace in every role including Leadership!

This episode is 2 introverts sharing their similarities & how they have leveraged them to be successful in the corporate world and how you can do it too.

Introverts often walk the walk without talking the talk so in this episode we discuss....

    • How to identify & sell your superpowers even the ones that sound boring
    • Busting the stereotypical myths about being an Introvert
    • Why introverts get overlooked & how we can stop it
    • Noise isn't the same as Impact or Action
    • Deciding what you want to be known for instead of letting people label you based on perception
    • How introverts can lead without being someone they aren't

A lot of companies don't advertise the salary they're offering but will expect you to disclose yours at application process or on an initial call.

  • EP 125. Cover Letters (No longer Your Nemesis)

First of all as a recruiter I can tell you 90% of the time no one reads your cover letter (just one of the reasons I hate them)

But there are situations where they can be helpful and where you can't submit your application without one.

So if you need to write one make sure its a good one (spoiler... it doesn't need to be a page long). You can thank one of my listeners for this episode as she wanted to know more about a good Cover Letter.

    This Episode I share.........

    • Cover Letter length
    • Getting to the point of what a company wants to hear
    • AI prompts to help get your cover letter written
    • Examples of simple effective cover letters
