The winter time is one of Tiffany B's favourite times of year, movie-wise. She has gamely sat through any number of CGI monstrosities with me, watching worlds be devoured, things blown up and plot holes you could drive an Optimus Prime through, and then everything calms down a bit. Towards the end of the year, and into the early part of the following year, studios start putting out the films that they think might get a bit of Oscar buzz, which tends to lead to a glut of quieter, more thoughtful fare, which is right up her alley. This, along with Arrival, heralds the start of this period. Hollywood is... kinda racist. The Oscars this year were a very white-dominated event, with nary a single black person nominated in any acting category. Is there a solution to the problem? If there is, surely it can be found by myself, my wonderful wife, and in his Flix debut, my chum Michael, all caucasians. Right? RIGHT? The other big days are when Marvel Studios films come out. These days make me so happy, as I get to see yet another very well made, very entertaining, never bad (even the worst ones aren't bad) film that ties into my burning love of a shared Universe. Dr Strange is latest such offering, a film given the herculean task of introducing the concept of magic to a world that has been staunchly avoiding anything un-scientific since its inception. Did it work? Is Tilda Swinton's casting separate from Hollywood whitewashing because her ethnicity is technically 'hyperpale'? Must there be some hilarious raw footage from this film of people doing ridiculous things with their hands before the CG was added? I'll answer the last one right now: Yes. My wife and I, possessors of lily livers and yellow bellies when it comes to horror films, always have a ceremonious horror bings around Halloween. It seems fitting, and generally if it gets too scary on screen you can distract yourself with pumpkin carving. This year, we watched three films which, whilst not all could be considered horror films, were certainly all Halloween themed. And which one did we like the best? Was it the scariest one? My yellow belly says no. Here we discuss all three in spoiler-free discussions, and give a glowingly untrustworthy analysis of one of Hollywood's unsung heroes.

To commemorate the event, I decided to trace Wolverine's story from the comics to this point, through 9 films of poor continuity, time travel, and questionable romances (come on guys, he's over 100 years old, it's creepy). Join me through the confusion, the bitterness, and the revelation of (to date) the greatest X-Men film yet created.

The Marvel Netflix partnership has been a ginormous success, creating two seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, all of which have been received very positively. Luke Cage is the latest binge-worthy series to drop and try to live up to the standards set by its predecessors. Does it succeed? Is it possible to tell interesting stories about a bulletproof superhero? How can a woman walk properly after spending a sexy night with a man who can benchpress a car? My wife and I attempt to answer all of these questions, and give our thoughts on Harlem's Hero.

The Wild West would be, I think, an absolutely awful place to be. Everyone exists in the same disgusting clothes every day and night, everyone's trying to kill you, and it's so hot you'd have headaches much of the time. That being said, through a cinematic lens, with reality and smells kept at remove, it's an undeniably cool place to watch stuff happen in. The latest Western offering from Hollywood is also the latest remake to be pumped out of the sausage factory: Magnificent Seven. It is the rarest Hollywood gem of all: a remake of a remake, once again adapting the story of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. Was it worthy of that source material? No idea, never seen it. But was it any good? The Calamity Jane to my toothless varmint, Tiffany B, joins me to discuss all the gun slinging in exquisite, spoileriffic detail.
