Forge The Narrative - Warhammer 40k Podcast

We are back after some weeks of travel. So sorry for the long delay!  We bring you our thoughts on the best things about this edition.  What are your favorites?

Hey folks,

Please consider grabbing an FTN T-shirt to help us celebrate the shows anniversary. The link can be found here. Proceeds will go to doing something nice for cast members of the show. The sticker is cool too and has been on my laptop for a year.  It’s the best sticker I’ve ever owned.

We also started a Patreon for the FTN show.  This will help us a lot in the form of being able to hire an editor and a few other things.   If it is anywhere within your ability to support us on that platform please consider doing so. The link is right here.

There are so many quality of life improvements with this edition.  So many things we don’t yet know – like how to build new armies – but there is so much we DO know and that is how to interact on the tabletop.

I’m pleased to say we have a link for the official Warhammer Merchandise Store!  Check out our link here if you plan on picking up something!

Terrain is different.  Moving within terrain is different.  Pivot tax is gone. Save Pools are here.  There is so much but it’s little nudges here and there.

Are new forces going to rise to the top?  Is this an excuse to dig deeper into our codexes?  Probably.

We’re delighted to continue to represent Discount Games Inc as sponsor of our show. They are helping bring FTN to you. Please check them out and support the organizations that support us. Discount Games Inc. offers Games Workshop products at 15% off the suggested retail at their website here. You can send an email to the owner Jay. These guys run a podcast too! Check them out.

The hobby segment is about the dropper tool in art apps if you’re struggling to find the right colors but have access to one of those.  We have some t-shirts a really cool sticker up for sale to celebrate us being nine years deep into this show. Check them out here.

Adam and I both agree on the top spot but then it gets hectic.

I’m a little late getting this post out and I apologize.  The notes are a little less lackluster than usual. Apologies in advance and let me know if you mind.

So much stuff for the Guard. This has basically been guard month. We talk about the tiny tanks and how to use them, the Hippogriff.  We also talk about Inquisitor Kroyle.  Is there a new ‘best’ list for the guard?  I’m not sure yet but they certainly have a whole lot of new tricks for an already powerful faction.

Big Guns Never Tire.  I really like the new Detachments and they look like they will be a lot of fun to play.   We run down both of the new detachments a Commissar Graves.

We run down the two new Astra Militarum detachments this week and they pretty dang good.  These Guard have ways to really maximize any and every unit in their Codex now which is nice since they have so many dataslates.

We’ve seen new models, we’ve seen new terrain, we’ve seen all sorts of stuff but it feels just like the tip of the iceberg.  We talk about some of the new model reveals and some terrain shapes we’ve seen in the teasers.  In the back half of the show we rank the top 5 squigs, again..

Every day we are getting more information about the new edition and still getting new models and rules for this one.  How cool is it to  think that everything we’re learning right now is theoretically supported in the new edition as well?

I’m pleased to say we have a link for the official Warhammer Merchandise Store!  Check out our link here if you plan on picking up something!

We do know objectives and terrain are changing.  What does it all mean?!  Seems all like good stuff so far.  We’ve seen some combat rules too.  Is this going to be a more aggressive game?  Like… the game is already aggressive.

In the back half of the show we rank the top 5 Squigs.  I feel like we’ve done this one recently but it seemed even more appropriate now that we’re getting Ork models previewed.  They look awesome!

Keeping the notes short and sweet this week.  We are happy to be back and very sorry for missing a couple of weeks.  Travel and some technical difficulties got in the way but we are back!  We will be going strong from this point on. I mean.. with the usual travel breaks for streaming.

We are late to the game with our Preview reactions but we were there and just got back… ha!  So sorry but we are really excited and want to talk about it.

It’s just Adam and Paul this week and we count down the hours until Adepticon 2026.  We talk about some new stuff previewed while we also count down the hours until the next major preview.  In the back half of the show we have two top five lists!

We spend a good amount of time talking about Adepticon and the coolness that it always is.  Adam sadly won’t be there this year but please come by and give Paul a fist bump.

In the back half of the show we talk about the top five questions you should ask every opponent and the top five base paints.  Which ones did we miss?

Tanya brought up a good topic in the pre-show about detail fatigue.  We’ve sort of danced all over the top in previous shows but in this one we get a little deeper.  Do you avoid putting pouches on models? What about any other bits? In the second half of the show we go over the top 5 most forgiving factions in 40k.  New Players?

I, for one, avoid putting extra pouches on rank and file folks if I can avoid it.  Most of the time… Sometimes I just go all in but I always have it in the back of my mind that I need to paint those details at some point.  Are you saving time by not including them? At what cost?!

I’m pleased to say we have a link for the official Warhammer Merchandise Store!  Check out our link here if you plan on picking up something!

I mention this in the show briefly but Contrast paint is amazing for knocking out some of those details quickly.

In part two we talk about the top five most forgiving factions in 40k.  This is for old and new players alike.  Sometimes it’s nice to just be able to make a few mistakes and not instantly lose the game. AmIRIGHT?!

Everyone is  back this week!  We have the full cast and I am over the moon.  We talk about the latest updates to Warhammer 40k and then talk about what you can be doing if you didn’t  get balanced enough.

The crowd went mild when the updates hit this week but is that a bad thing?  I don’t think so at all.  The cast has a bit of a mixed reaction but I think we are exactly in the spot we were a year or so ago when a few armies had win rate spikes and all it took were a couple of point changes to knock them down a peg into that ‘acceptable’ win rate.  Of course it will take a couple of weeks to see if that is true but there are some giant tournaments coming up that are sure to give us some data.

I’m pleased to say we have a link for the official Warhammer Merchandise Store!  Check out our link here if you plan on picking up something!

Didn’t get balanced enough?  We talk about some tongue in cheek, but very real, things you can be doing to ride the wave while you wait for whatever comes next.

In part two we talk about the top five things you can be doing while you wait for the ‘real’ balance.  Whatever that is, ha!

We don’t even have time to talk about all the Admech stuff we’ve seen and the glorious Simgar reveals.. The studio has been busy!   If you like faction specific dice, there are new ones going up right now for pre-order for the Bone Reapers.

In part 2 we talk about the top 5 utility units in 40k right now.  What would you have added to this list?  Did we miss anything crazy?
