The Violoncello and Its History by J. Wasielewski:
--published in the late 1800's
This 200 page book provides an excellent look into the history of the cello. The two centuries, the 1700 and 1800's, dealt with break the information down by Country and in special cases by individuals. This was the case with Bernhard Romberg--Episode 15 https://anchor.fm/forgottencellomusic/episodes/Episode-15-Forgotten-Cello-Music-Bernhard-ROMBERG-German-School-of-Cello-e11rbsn.
In this episode, I mainly focus on the reading directly from Wasielewski's book: CONCLUSION pages 210-213. It is a good overview of the two centuries past and a look at the then current role of the solo cellist and some of the impediments they faced.
At the end, I make a few comments and mention plans for a future episode.
