If people are in a situation where they may die soon, and they have not been baptized but want baptism, you can and should baptize them. We need to call on the Lord’s name through faith, not just going through the motions.

Preparar a la gente para el encuentro con Dios, parte 2

Si la gente se encuentra en una situación en la que puede morir al poco tiempo y no han sido bautizados pero quieren recibir el bautismo, nosotros podemos y debemos bautizarlos. Tenemos que invocar el nombre del Señor con fe, no sólo siguiendo reglas para aparentar.

If people are in a situation where they may die soon, they will probably be more open to God. We need to be able to prepare them to meet God. We can do that if we have faith and know Jesus personally. The Holy Spirit will give us the power to witness.

Preparar a la gente para el encuentro con Dios, parte 1

Si la gente se encuentra en una situación en la que puede morir al poco tiempo, tal vez se abran más con el Señor. Tenemos que ser capaces de prepararlos para el encuentro con El Señor. Esto lo podemos hacer si tenemos fe y una relación personal con Jesús. El Espíritu Santo nos dará el poder para dar testimonio ante la gente.

If we don’t follow Jesus, the light of the world, then we are in darkness. Jesus said He will not condemn us, it is His words that will condemn us on the last day.

La palabra de Dios es nuestro juez

Si no seguimos a Jesús, que es la luz del mundo, entonces estamos en la oscuridad. Jesús dijo que no nos condenaría; son sus propias palabras las que nos condenarán el Día del Juicio Final.

Jesus will never reject us. He wants us to come to Him, and we do that by talking to Him in our own words. We can ask the saints to pray for us, but it’s no substitute for you praying. Who do you get to eat for you? We need to eat, and to pray, for ourselves.

Jesús nunca nos rechazará.  Jesús nunca nos rechazará.  Quiere que nos acerquemos a Él y esto lo hacemos hablando con Él en nuestras propias palabras.

Let God’s word dwell in you richly. Commercials on TV or radio repeat a brand name and telephone over and over so that it sticks in your mind. That is how it should be with us and God’s Word – we need to repeat it to ourselves over and over until it dwells in us.

Que la palabra de Dios viva en ti 

Que la palabra de Dios viva todo el tiempo en ti.  Los anuncios de televisión o de radio repiten la marca y el número de teléfono una y otra vez para que se nos quede en la mente.   Lo mismo nos debería pasar con la palabra de Dios:  necesitamos repertírnosla una y otra vez hasta que sea parte de nosotros.

Don’t receive the grace of God in vain.

There are three main gifts or graces we receive when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit:

* ease in prayer

* love for and understanding of God’s Word

* zeal to spread the Gospel

We need to cooperate with those graces and live them out.

No reciban la gracia de Dios en vano

Hay tres dones/gracias principales que provienen del bautismo en el Espíritu Santo:

* Paz en la oración

* amor por la comprensión de la palabra de Dios

God’s plan for our lives is different and better than ours. Saul, Simon Peter, Simon of Cyrene all had different plans than God’s, but if you asked them now, whose plan do you think they would say was better — theirs or God’s?

El designio de Dios para nuestra vida es diferente  y mejor que el nuestro. Saúl, Simón, Pedro y Simón el Cireneo tenían todos diferentes planes a los de Dios, pero si les preguntan ahora, ¿cuál plan creen Uds. que dirían ellos que es mejor?

We need to open ourselves up to all that the Lord wants to do in us. We will receive from God as much as we are open to.

Abrir bien la boca

Tenemos que estar abiertos a todo lo que el Señor quiere lograr en nosotros. Recibiremos de Dios según estemos abiertos a ello.

One of the gifts of ministry that Paul talks about is the gift of miracles. An example of this is when Peter prayed for Tabitha to be brought back from the dead. That still happens today. Father shares the story of a woman in our community praying for a dead woman in Mexico who came back to life.

There are 3 types of the gift of tongues: a) Pentecost – where people understand what is being said in their own language; b) prophesying in tongues; c) a personal gift of tongues.

Dones de ministerio #3

Uno de los dones de que habla Pablo es el don para hacer milagros.  Un ejemplo de éste sucedió cuando Pedro oró por Tabita para que resucitara.

Hay tres tipos de dones de lenguas: a) Pentecostés: por medio de éste la gente entiende lo que se dice en su propia lengua; b) profetizar en lenguas; c) el don de lenguas para la oración personal.

There are gifts of holiness and sanctity, and then there are gifts of ministry. In the early Church, there were some Christians who had gifts that were not based on a foundation of holiness and so became like wolves amidst the flock. On the other hand, there was Paul and Barnabas, who, though tempted, remained grounded in humility giving the glory to God instead of taking any credit for themselves.

Dones de ministerio #2

Algunos cristianos de los primeros años de la iglesia tenían dones que no estaban basados en la santidad; por tanto, se volvieron como lobos en medio del rebaño. Pablo y Bernabé, por otro lado, permanecieron arraigados en la humildad, dando la gloria a Dios en lugar de atribuírsela a sí mismos.
