Father Thomas speaks about various gifts of ministry. All believers have the gifts of healing, even though some have it to a greater degree than others.

There are gifts of holiness and sanctity and gifts of ministry. Charismatic gifts of ministry need to be based on the foundation of holiness or there will be shipwrecks.

To put our trust in superstitious practices is an insult to God. Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light to deceive us.

One of the conditions for receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to repent and quit sinning. We need to have sorrow for sin, which is different than regret.

Arrepentimiento por nuestros pecados

Una de las condiciones para recibir el bautismo del Espíritu Santo es arrepentirse y dejar de pecar. Tenemos que arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados lo cual es diferente del remordimiento.

 

We shouldn’t be going to Holy Communion if we don’t have a friendship with Jesus. How do we work on our friendship with Him? We need to talk to Jesus in our own words.

Amistad con Jesús

No deberíamos recibir la Santa Comunión si no somos amigos de Jesús.   ¿Cómo desarrollamos una amistad con Jesús?   Tenemos que hablarle a  Jesús con nuestras propias palabras.

To bring our baptism to life we each need to make an act of faith. We know we have faith if we act on what we believe, even when no one is watching.

Hacer un acto de fe

Para darle vida a nuestro bautismo, cada uno de nosotros tiene que hacer un acto de fe. Sabemos que tenemos fe si actuamos conforme a lo que creemos, incluso cuando nadie nos ve.

We need to renounce Satan, his works, his seductions. The trouble is, too often we don’t know what those are.

Father Thomas gives the example of advertising on television and how it is based on coveting – which is directly opposed to the 10th Commandment.

Renunciar a Satanás y a sus obras

Tenemos que renunciar a Satanás, a sus obras y a sus seducciones; el problema es que no las conocemos.

Baptism is making a decision for God and against Satan.

When we are infants, our parents and godparents make that decision for us, but later we need to decide for ourselves.

We can’t renounce Satan and his works if we don’t know what that means.

God was preparing His people to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, beginning with John the Baptist’s baptism. It took several years for Jesus to prepare the people to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and even then, only 120 were ready and open on Pentecost.

We need to prepare ourselves and others for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and it requires a lot of catching up due to our faulty religious education.

Preparación para el bautismo del Espíritu Santo

Dios preparaba a su gente para que fuera bautizada en el Espíritu Santo, comenzando por el bautismo de Juan Bautista. Necesitamos prepararnos a nosotros y a otros para esta gran gracia.

The devil’s plan for marriage is for us to marry the wrong person, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons. God’s plan for marriage is that those called to marriage marry the right person, at the right time, for the right reasons.

Satan’s plan for education is that the child do whatever he/she wants. God’s plan: discipline & godly training. Both parents need to spend a lot of time with and pay a lot of attention to their children.
