After the first film grossed $407 million off a $37 million budget, Summit Entertainment was suddenly very intent on adapting the entire Twilight series. That would mean making big changes to ensure future sequels would release annually. Catherine Hardwicke was out and Chris Weitz was in. The troublesome locations of Oregon were replaced with elaborate sets and soundstages in Vancouver. The filmmakers were still committed to staying faithful to author Stephanie Meyer’s original vision, but that commitment would be tested with the moody, romantic second chapter, 2009’s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON.
Nina Kypuros Howard joins the show as Team Franchisography journeys from the beaches of Forks, Washington to the streets of Volterra, Italy.

When Stephanie Meyer awoke one morning in 2003, she had no idea her dream the night before about a young couple lying together in a meadow would birth a franchise that would shape the world of film and publishing forever.
Franchisography begins its thrilling dive into the Twilight Saga with Catherine Hardwicke’s 2008 blockbuster TWILIGHT. Committed to injecting this teen vampire romance with natural locations and performances, Hardwicke rolled the dice twice by casting two indie weirdos as the romantic leads and shooting on location in cloudy, rainy Oregon. This shoot would be anything but a walk through the meadow.
Twi-hard Dagny McCartney joins Nick and Scott in investigating the origins and secrets of the timeless love story between one stupid lamb and a sick, masochistic lion.

Our mini-series devoted to the live action films of Wes Anderson comes to a close with his tenth feature-length film after a seven year absense, 2021’s The French Dispatch.
How does the most stylistically and thematically “Wes Anderson-y” film keep getting topped? We don’t know but he keeps managing to do it and his latest film is no exception. Join Nick and Scott as they marvel at an Anderson anthology film featuring three shorts that have enough depth to be features themselves. No background info this week because the film is too recent, so this is basically an unofficial Bonus Feature episode.

Our mini-series devoted to the live action films of Wes Anderson continues with Anderson’s biggest success story, 2014’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Both a culmination and arguably a masterwork for Wes Anderson as a filmmaker, his eighth feature was also a massive hit, raking in $172 million at the global box office, and a critical darling, earning over fifty award wins and hundreds of nominations. But does it hold up as the Crème de la crème of Anderson’s entire filmography?
Joining Nick and Scott to talk about matryoshka timelines, intricate baked goods, and fascinating life stories is actress and casting director Chelsi Kern.

Our mini-series devoted to the live action films of Wes Anderson continues after a five year break with 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom.
After a run of flops, Anderson needed a fresh start, so he turned to his producing partners to find funding for a meticulously crafted romance film about two adolscent runaways. With only a $16mil budget, the film became the first independently financed feature film directed by Wes Anderson, and one of his most successful films to date.
Joining Nick and Scott to talk about young love, island getaways, and wilderness expertice is Animal Crossing aficionado Jodi Wofford.
