  • Sanctify Yourselves
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: Sanctify Yourselves
    Subtitle: 2018 International Congress
    Speaker: Rev. Ian Goligher
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 7/29/2018
    Bible: Joshua 3:5
    Length: 54 min.

Overview: In Joshua 3, we find the old life of the Israelites was coming to an end. They were about to pass into the land of Canaan, a land of victory and life but still a land of battle. When we come to Christ, there is a new life. Still there are enemies to be fought and battles to be won. A surrendered life will enjoy the victory of God. Everyone of us is called to give up our carnal life and go into the land of blessing. Why do we need a surrendered life- Why did Joshua call on Israel to sanctify themselves- What does this mean-----1. The explanation of sanctification- the meaning of -Sanctify yourselves---- It is something the people had to do themselves--- it means you set yourself apart for special use by the Lord--- it means to wash, purify, cleanse -Ex 19-10---- You can't enjoy the world and power with God----2. The expectation in sanctification- tomorrow the Lord will do wonders--- God's people can expect God's help--In vv 8-13, they are told what God will do. Sanctified people can expect God's power to give up the old life and embrace the new. Some take Jordan as a type of entering heaven. But more so, this is a picture of the Christian going over into a new era of life, blessing, battle and victory with the help of the Lord. When we face our Jordans, we can expect God to open up a way.--- God's people can expect God's presence--The Christian life is a life of expectation. You can expect God to be present and work for you----3. The application of sanctification- how Israel did it--- follow the Lord--- hear the word of the Lord--- go forth in faith not sight--- give the honor to the Lord----Dedicate yourself to serve the Lord.

  • This Man!
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: This Man!
    Speaker: Mr. Chris Killen
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - PM
    Date: 7/22/2018
    Bible: Luke 15:1-2
    Length: 50 min.

Overview: In Gen 24-57-58, we find a question posed to Rebekah, -Wilt thou go with this man-- This is a tremendous picture of the gospel-concerning the sinner's willingness to forsake their sin and come to Christ. Rebekah was willing to leave and go with this man. In the New Testament, -this man- often refers to the uniqueness of Christ. We want to look at occurrences of -this man- in relation to the Lord Jesus Christ.----1. Luke 23-4 - -I find no fault in this man.-----The one who stood before Pilate was holy and pure and undefiled. He had no fault. He kept the law perfectly. Christ not only died for me but he lived for me. The record of the thief on the cross was -this man hath done nothing amiss.- No mater what happens in life, remember that this man has no fault and will never do you wrong.----2. John 7-46 - -Never a man spake like this man-----There is power in his word as he healed the lame and raised the dead.. There is peace in his word as he still the storm. There are promises in his word to save and provide. Never a man spake like him.----3. Luke 15-2 - -This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.-----These religious leaders thought Christ would eat with them. The Pharisees were filled with their own righteousness and good works. You can sense the animosity they had toward other classes of people. Christ was showing the Pharisees that he is a friend to sinners, their best friend- He went to the cross to reconcile us to God. Christ is willing and able to save to the uttermost.----4. Heb 10-12 - -But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sin forever, sat down.-----5. Mark 15-39 - -Truly this man was the Son of God.-----Will you trust this man-

  • Washing for Service
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: Washing for Service
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 7/22/2018
    Bible: John 13:1-17
    Length: 46 min.

Overview: In this passage from John 13, we learn about the washing and service of the Lord where there are lessons in this for His people----1. The posture of Christ -John 13-1-5-- service--John 13-3 - Christ was aware of who he is, that he came from the Father. He is coeternal and coequal with the Father. He knew as he walked upon the earth that he was not just a man, but the God-man -Phil 2-6---John 13-4-5 - He laid aside his garments and dresses as a servant and performs the function as a servant -Phil 2-7-. One heresy says Christ emptied himself of deity and took on humanity. What really happened is that the Second Person of the Trinity was united with a true humanity. He emptied himself by becoming a servant who would be obedient to God unto death. He emptied not by subtraction, but by addition - taking the form of a servant. He took the posture of a servant.----2. The practice of Christ -John 13-5-11-- washing--He practiced a menial task of washing the disciple's feet. He taught them something very important in what he did. This visible lesson has tremendous spiritual implications. The cleaning the Lord talked about was cleansing from sin. He is speaking of the washing of regeneration that we need once for all and the daily washing of water by the Word and Sprit as we go through this sinful world.----3. The pattern of Christ -John 13- 12-17-- lessons--As the Lord performs this task, he is teaching us that we would promote each other's sanctification and learn to serve others in practical ways. Serving others is the essence of what is to be in Christ.

  • The Believer's Sonship
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: The Believer's Sonship
    Subtitle: The Book of Romans
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - PM
    Date: 7/15/2018
    Bible: Romans 8:15
    Length: 41 min.

Overview: One of the marks of the modern church is familiarity with God. The saints of old were very particular in the language used when approaching God in prayer. God must be approached with reverence and fear. There is a more casual approach advocated these days. The other error we fall into is to approach God in a cold and distant manner. Gal 4 and Rom 8 make much of the tern Abba. It is a term of affection and endearment. It marks a closeness with God. We must defend with all our soul that reverence and humility must be used in our approach to God. But we must also recognize that God has brought us into sonship so we can cry Abba Father. The Spirit by faith changes our legal standing before God but the Spirit also changes our experience with God where we can call him Father. We are to walk in the fear of God and in the comfort of the sonship we have by the Spirit -Acts 9-31-.----Three statements of reflection--1. God has chosen to adopt us--The servant did not deserve the adoption. We are utterly unreliable yet God is pleased to make us sons. It is God's sovereign choice out of infinite, unmerited love.----2. God is pleased to accept us--Adoption denotes acceptation. We are welcomed into God's family. As sinners and rebels, we deserve to be kept away from God's family.----3. God has allowed us to approach him--The slave lived in perpetual fear that the master might reject him. Not so God's child----Three final words of application--1. a word of reality--You have received the Spirit of adoption. You have to embrace what you are and fight the devil who subverts that truth----2. a word of reassurance--God is willing to hear, answer and provide----3. a word of responsibility

    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 7/15/2018
    Bible: Luke 2:8-17
    Length: 42 min.

Overview: In our last message, we looked at the manner and majesty of Christ's birth. In this message, we continue in that study as we look at the evangelists of Christ's birth.----1. the meaning of the birth explained--The babe was God come in the flesh to be the Savior of sinners----2. the message of the birth announced--Those working in a field become witnesses in a greater field. In the eyes of the world, shepherds did not have a high social status. God uses humbled souls that have been humbled by grace to be instruments of grace to announce the birth.----3. the making of the evangelist seen--This making involves--3a. exposure to the truth---For unto you is born this day...- -2-11---These people were doing their work. Then God steps in and makes them evangelists. He does it by exposing them to truth -Rev 10--17-. He uses existing evangelists, the angels, to pass the truth along. The good news needs to be passed on from generation to generation--3b. examining the truth---Let us now go...- -2-15---After hearing the truth, they test the truth--3c. expressing a response to the truth---they returned glorifying and praising God...- -2-20---Those who experience the intervention of God make God known publicly with their voices. They glorify God with their voice and praise God with their hearts.----4. the message of the evangelist---they made known abroad the saying which was told them...- -2-17---They were told of the promised Messiah and they spoke of the promised Messiah----5. The manner of the evangelist--They were generous. They told those who had not seen. They cared about lost souls. They spoke simple truth----May God help us to learn from these humble shepherds

  • Lives That Please The Lord
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Lives That Please The Lord
    Subtitle: The Book of Romans
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - PM
    Date: 5/13/2018
    Bible: Romans 8:8-9
    Length: 46 min.

Overview: What does the word of God teach concerning the matter of pleasing God---Pleasing God can mean---- to bring pleasure to God--- to be agreeable to God--- to place ourselves under the will of God----Are we living lives pleasing to God- In this message, we will look at two different matters concerning pleasing God.----1. The matter of expressed inability--- stated--Those in the flesh cannot live lives pleasing to God.--- qualified--This does not mean that those in the flesh cannot do good things. Sinners CAN do good things.--- explained--However, those in the flesh will not do things pleasing to God.--- applied--Therefore, praying, fasting, and other religious activities by those who are in the flesh does not please God.----2. The matter of implied ability--Believers are not in the flesh. Therefore, by the grace of God, Christ's death on the cross, and the work of the Spirit, the believer can live a life pleasing to God. The moment we are converted we are able to please the Lord. Instead of hating the commands of God, we love His commands.----In this message, there is a word to lost souls. If you want to please God, you must be born again.----There is also a word to child of God. We must have a proper spiritual self esteem. We have worth because of Christ's work. Also, when we think we CANNOT please God, we must remember that we absolutely CAN through God's grace.

    Event: Sunday - PM
    Date: 7/8/2018
    Bible: Romans 8:14
    Length: 49 min.

Overview: Last Sunday night we thought about the fact that all who are just are sons of God and all who are sons of God are led by the spirit. This time we are looking at the experiential application of the text. How can we know we are being led by the Spirit- First we will look at our text with a doctrinal grasp. Where does the Spirit lead us to-----1. Conviction--The Spirit convicts us of sin. When we are converted, we feel the pain of sin all the more.----2. Confession--The Spirit leads us to confess Jesus as Lord.----3. Conformity--The Spirit leads us to hate sin and love God more.----Second, we will look at a practical application of our text.----1. Warning--If we have more then a majority of born again Christians, why are all the sins in the world continuing to advance- We must not let these things continue.----2. Aid to Our Assurance--Our assurance must always be in Christ- his person and his finished work. We are aided in our assurance by our knowledge of the Spirit's work in us.

  • The Mystery of Christ's Birth
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Mystery of Christ's Birth
    Subtitle: The Book of Luke
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 7/8/2018
    Bible: Luke 2:7
    Length: 45 min.

Overview: The events recorded by Luke actually happened. We are reading accounts of history. Luke is interested in historical accuracy so people would know the certainty of things which have been believed. These events are not up for debate. The challenge for us to to figure out the impact of these events. In this message, we look at the manner and mystery of Christ's birth.----1. the manner of the birth--- The birth was seemingly ordinary--Mary was great with child and then gave birth to a son. It seemed ordinary.--- The birth was marked by poverty--There was no room for him in the inn----2. The mystery of the birth--This birth shows extraordinary humility. This child was Christ the Lord -Luke 2-11-. God was manifest in the flesh -1 Tim 3-16-. He was made lower than the angels to suffer death -Heb 2-9-. The 2nd person of the Godhead took humanity so He would destroy Satan who had the power of death -Heb 2-14-. Luke 2 describes the sending of the Son by the Father -John 18-25-. The babe in the manger is the eternal son of God united to a true humanity, two distinct natures but one person. It is very important not to misunderstand who Christ is. Christ is the God-man. The attributes of both natures belong to the person. He is God and man at one time forever. The Scripture sometimes emphasizes different natures at different times. God does not grow weary yet Christ sleeps. The eternal God humbles himself to a position of dependence to the point that he needed his mother to sustain his life. The Immortal dies. He left glory o come into a sin cursed world to save us from the curse. What humility- What charity-- What a mystery-------May God help us to ponder these truths

Am I led by the Spirit- We will look at the text under three categories of thought over the next few Sundays. This Sunday we will look at it doctrinally. Doctrinally, there are a couple of striking truths.----1. All who are justified are sons of God----2. All who are justified are led by the Spirit

  • A Life of Praise
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: A Life of Praise
    Subtitle: The Book of Luke
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 7/1/2018
    Bible: Luke 1:57-80
    Length: 41 min.

Overview: Why is Luke writing- Certainly it is to give an orderly account, to present facts, and to show the supernatural events that happened. This is a record of history. These events of preparation are showing that the eternal God is at work in the world. Luke presents portraits of faith and praise. He does it because he wants us to come to faith and praise like Mary, Elisabeth and Zacharias. Faith is a conviction that these things are true. His purpose in writing is so that you would believe and be saved and live a life of faith and praise. In this message, we look at lessons regarding praise. What does your life of praise look like-----1. the setting of the praise--It is a pivotal time in history. It is a time in which God deals with individuals. He deals with them not in the temple, but in the humble place of their own dwellings.----2. the source of the praise--Where does praise come from- It comes from outside of ourselves and it comes from inside ourselves. The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to work praise in us. You can see the Word of God governs the praise of Mary -compare Mary's praise in 46ff with Psalm 103-. Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost and praise God.----3. the subject of praise--Some things can be said about the subject of praise--- praise must be biblical--- praise must be spiritual--- spiritual praise will be biblical--- true spiritual praise is God-exalting--- mercy, faithfulness and redemption are the focus of our praise----May God so work in us faith and praise
