God is glorified in His creation--God has created everything we see. When He created the world He saw that it was good. He is the potter and His amazing creation is His clay.----2. God is glorified in His craftsmanship--Craftsmanship means God is keeping His hand on His creation and continuing to receive the glory for it.----3. God is glorified in His closeness--When we go through trials, God will be there with us. However, he isn't only with us during our trials. He is also with us when things are going well for us.----4. God is glorified in His charity--Why is God so close- Because He loves us. He loves us so much that He died on the cross to give us salvation from our sin.----5. God is glorified in His choice--We as the children that God has chosen show God's glory through our salvation.----6. God is glorified in His condemnation--Instead of condemning His sinful children, He condemned His perfect Son in our place. This is a glorious work of God.----7. God is glorified in His calling--This is different than God's choice because in His calling God is saying, -Let there be light.- He calls, and it will happen. He calls us to Him.----8. God is glorified in His commission--We are called to be God's witnesses by Christ to tell the world about God. We glorify God in being his witnesses.----9. God is glorified in His character--- God is glorified in His comfort--- God is glorified in His graciousness--- God is glorified in His longsuffering----We can take joy and stand in awe in the glory of God.

  • Sanctification By the Cross
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: Sanctification By the Cross
    Subtitle: The Book of Romans
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - PM
    Date: 4/22/2018
    Bible: Romans 8:3
    Length: 46 min.

Overview: The gospel that Paul announces in Romans brings not only justification, but also sanctification. Justification is announced in the no condemnation of Romans 8-1. Yet that justification will always be followed by the moral renewal of sanctification described in Romans 8-4. Fulfilling the righteousness of the law is a reference to our sanctification, not our justification. Paul is not teaching that we have to live right before God in order to be right before God or stay right before God. But he is teaching that those who are right before God will live right before God. He is showing that those who are justified by the Son are also sanctified by the Spirit. The crucial thing that ties them both together is the atonement of verse 3. We are justified AND sanctified through the work of the cross. This is the gospel that Paul describes in Romans 8-3. In this message, we look at the gospel that sanctifies us.----The gospel that sanctifies involves the following--1. the Father's initiation- -God sending...---2. the Son's commission- -sending his Son...---3. the Son's incarnation- -in the likeness of sinful flesh...---4. sin's condemnation- -to condemned sin in the flesh...-----The gospel is that Christ came to execute judgement over the power of sin by His death. If we are to be holy, we will only be holy because of the cross of Christ. Moral renewal without connection to the cross is utter hopelessness.

  • Men Who Are Able
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: Men Who Are Able
    Subtitle: Elders
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 4/22/2018
    Bible: 1 Timothy 3:5
    Length: 49 min.

Overview: We have looked at how elders are to be chosen based on meeting certain qualifications. We have considered how we are to choose men who are eligible, willing, and qualified. Today we look at choosing men who are able. The qualifications focus on both character and ability. Apt to teach is a reference to ability. This does not mean they are perfect. In thinking about ability we want to think about what the elder is to do. Their primary task is that they lead the flock by example. The men who say are to be men that do. We examine terms and tasks for the elder.----1. Reviewing terms used for the elder--rule- 1 Tim 5-17- Heb 13-7--oversight- Peter 5-2--feed- Acts 20-28--protect- Acts 20-29-31- Titus 1-9----2. Summarizing tasks of the elder--We can summarize the above terms under two main roles----2a. direction--In light of these terms, we can say the elder is leader. He does not take this position on himself. God appoints him to it. A crucial aspect of their work is to give direction in terms of the function of the church. That lead to question of what church is to do. Primarily the church is a group of worshipers. The elders therefore are give direction to worship, evangelism, and preaching. They are to led the church in the proper outworking of all its functions.----2b. discipling--discipling involves two aspects--- the positive aspect of counsel--They are to give counsel for the perfecting of the saints -Eph 4-13-. There are some who give their entire lives so that they labor in scripture and teaching. But all elders have a duty to teach the word of God in some capacity----- the negative aspect of correction--They are to warn them that are unruly -1 Thes 5-15-.

Overview: Elders are selected in different ways in different churches. However, regardless of the way that elders are elected in the church, the qualifications must be observed. In this sermon, we will look at one of the qualifications for the role of elder. This qualification is character. Elders must be men of character.----1. The root of character--Where does the root of an elder come from---- it comes from being saved--- it comes from being experienced in the faith--- it comes from being planted in Christ.----2. The fruit of their character--They must be blameless. This does not mean that they are sinless- but it means that they are not scandalous men.--There are certain spheres in which this blamelessness is seen---- in a general sense--Elders must be men of spirituality, sobriety, integrity, hospitality, and geniality.--- at home--Elders must be the husband of one wife and men who rule well.--- in the community--Elders must be representatives of Christ to the outside world.
