    Bible: Luke 1:46
    Length: 43 min.

Overview: December is a significant time in the calendar for its celebration of Christmas. Yet problems have been noted with its celebration. Christmas arose in connection with a pagan festival. Christmas is sometimes celebrated in a way that is entirely unbiblical. There is no Scriptural command to celebrate the Lord's incarnation on a given day. However, just because the false church and unbelievers abuse something does not mean we should avoid it. God does not forbid his people from holding special days to celebrate his work -Esther 9-17-19, Col 2-16-. It is not inherently sinful for Christians to celebrate Christmas or for others to refrain from its celebration. We should also consider how we have an opportunity to make known the incarnation and the glories of the gospel. In this message, we look at the song of Mary to learn of Christmas and the gospel.----1. context of the song--The context is the news of the coming of the Savior--1a. visit of the angel to Mary--These words are read and heard by more people than any other time of the year. As we believe entry of the word gives light, we should pray God to open their hearts--1b. visit of Mary to Elisabeth--We see John the Baptist acting as a prophet before his birth. These ladies knew a level of faith that we should admire and aim for.----2. content of the song--2a. subject is God--A true church seeks to exault God and not self. She magnifies his attribute and his works--2b. source of her praise--She speaks Bible in her praise to God because she knows the Bible. We need to be grounded in the Bible.--2c. spirit of the song--She knew her sinfulness. She trusted her Son. She found grace.

  • A Guide For Thanksgiving
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: A Guide For Thanksgiving
    Speaker: Dr. Stephen Pollock
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 11/19/2017
    Bible: Matthew 6:11
    Length: 43 min.

Overview: If you observe how Thanksgiving is celebrated today, you find it is about family, food, football, and Friday. How should Christians conduct themselves- We are not commanded to celebrate this day. Our liberty must be governed by the Word of God as opposed to tradition and family practice. The Pilgrims of 1621 were pious souls who acknowledged God provided for them. In 1789, Washington called on the nation to acknowledge the many signal favors of Almighty God. Thanksgiving without God is nonsense. Thanksgiving means you give thanks to someone. Matthew 6-11 guides in how to celebrate this day----1. Rejoice in God's provision--Who provides- God. We live in absolute dependence on God. The full shelves in US supermarkets tend to blind us to this truth. We don't pray this prayer but presume we will just get it. God is a provider -6-31-33-----How does God provide- He provides through means. Gen 3-19 are words of judgment but God in mercy still promises that they shall eat bread. God tells us to get bread through labor. We are not to be lazy.----What does God provide- He provides for our needs. As regards material things, we are best to ask God what he thinks are best for us.----2. Reflect on God's preservation--It is God's will that we would have bread and be preserved. We pray for our daily bread because we cannot boast of tomorrow. We have responsibility in preserve our lives. We should not engage in thing that will destroy the Body----3. Remember God's people--Give us -our- daily bread. God gives us bread that it may be shared. We are responsible for the needs of others.----4. Recall God's priority--This is the 4th petition. Hallowed be thy name and thy will be done come first

  • The Believer's Only Standing
A new MP3 sermon from Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

    Title: The Believer's Only Standing
    Speaker: Adam Eshleman
Broadcaster: Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern
    Event: Sunday - AM
    Date: 11/12/2017
    Bible: Zechariah 3:1-3
    Length: 56 min.

Overview: Zechariah's name means the Lord remembers. It is meant to encourage those who had returned from captivity to be involved in the work of God. Filthy garments are removed from Joshua the high priest and clean garments are given to him. He is able to continue in service of the Lord, free from harassment. This is a picture of believer's hope under the condemnation of the devil. This vision is calculated to give us hope as we live the normal Christian life. We have an unassailable standing before the Lord. In our experience, we know we are filthy. But in our standing, we are righteous. In this message, we see the Lord rising to the defense of the believer----1. Joshua - the fallen believer--Joshua is a priest with direct access to God. He represents believers called to serve God. He is clothed filthy garments. We have a picture of one who knows his guilt and lack of fitness to serve God----2. Satan - the believer's adversary--Satan is standing at Joshua's right hand to resist him. He is a cruel adversary.--It is better that he be your advisory rather than a friend. It is an act of grace that Satan is your enemy. Satan can easily accuse us----3. the Lord - the believer's defense--It is a gloomy vision thus far. But the main character is the Lord and he comes to Joshua's defense--3a. defends on the basis of His purpose--God chose Jerusalem. Our defense is in the irresistible decree of God's election. Free and sovereign grace is your defense--3b. defends on basis of His pity--Joshua is a brand plucked from fire. We had no ability to rescue ourselves--3c. defends on basis of His passion--Reaching into the fire means there will be suffering. It hints at Christ's death
