  • 4719 27 YEAR OLD FEMALE BODYBUILDER: "I CAN'T COMMIT TO A MAN!" Freedomain Call In
Philosopher Stefan Molyneux confronts a young woman who JUST CAN'T MAKE UP HER MIND! - demanding an answer to the most essential question: WHAT VALUE DO YOU BRING OTHER THAN LOOKS?

    Previous show: https://www.fdrpodcasts.com/#/4630/i-need-him-to-throw-me-up-against-the-wall-a-woman-begs-her-man-to-be-assertive

"Hello Stefan! I considered all the things we talked about from our last phone conversation regarding myself and "James." I went on several dates and chatted with some great guys and some not-so great guys. Each time, I realized that I kept wishing James was sitting in front of me and not some random man. He is truly the best person for me, and I am allowing myself to show my love for him in the way I have always imagined myself loving him. However, of course, since I am an over-thinker, there is something I am still struggling to work through; it is definitely a deep-seated issue of sorts that I have gotten away with not addressing. The only way I know how to describe it is a complete disassociation from my body and from myself as a sexual being. I cannot seem to be both emotionally intimate and physically intimate with a man, despite wanting to be both with James. In the past, I am either totally numb and disconnected emotionally and only focusing on what is physically happening, and if I am not numb, I am in a state of panic. I have only experienced this panic with James, and I cannot abide it. I would say it is part of the reason I took a step back because I felt just too "known" by him.

"I have a difficult time understanding what being in a healthy relationship looks like. I honestly do not know what to do. I want him, and I know we will have a good life together--literally the life I always imagined us having since we met. I have said for years that I want someone “like him, who is not him;” as I’ve searched, I learned that James loves me as I am, and there is not anything I have to do or become, other than the best version of the me he already loves so much. There is truly no one else like James. I know that I have a tendency to go towards dysfunctional men because it allows me to, as you said, erase myself, as I do not have to deal with my own issues if I am busy managing someone else’s. I have managed other people’s issues my whole life, it seems, but James does not have any issues for me to manage, forcing me to have to manage my own... which I obviously don’t want to face because I don’t know how to fix it. I often relate to Scarlet O’Hara from Gone with the Wind, and I wish that was not the case as she is pretty awful in many ways! On her wedding night with her first husband, Charles, she panics, as it did not occur to her that in marrying this shy boy she would be tasked with sharing his bed. That’s how I feel sometimes; it’s as if it does not fully occur to me that the man I marry will also know me as no one else, and it is horrifying to me. HELP!"

  • 4717 LOVE IN THE TIME OF COVID! (or, How to NEVER fight with your wife!)
Philosopher Stefan Molyneux teaches you how to truly love, based on the following question:

"What to do with a zombie marriage? I have been married for 20 years, we both have a history of codependence, and I have previously been a people pleaser. I have worked hard for the last 5 years to no longer be a people pleaser. This has had great outcomes in my career and my friendships. It has however, moved my marriage into a zombie marriage - We’re still married, but we hardly speak to each other, and when we do, it’s usually conflict.

    https://www.bitchute.com/video/CJrkl9yfa5I7/

"Now that I actually have my own opinions on life, the world and relationships, it seems my wife and I disagree on many things - parenting, finances, politics, sex, health and fitness. The biggest issue is that we can’t seem to resolve anything. If I voice an opinion, for example on her behaviour of yelling at our child, she gets defensive, blame shifts, voices her disgust at my questioning her, then storms off and doesn’t talk to me for 24 hours. Rinse and repeat every week/month for the last 5 years.

"My question is, are my expectations reasonable? After trying so many ways to talk some of these issues through and getting nowhere, I am getting very stressed, depressed and anxious with the continued conflict which is now also affecting other parts of my life. It feels like my only option is to end the marriage, but I guess after being told by the one person I was closest to that my opinions are disgusting, I am second guessing my judgment. I also got married relatively young, so I have no idea on how to date or meet people. I’m also scared to hurt my child through divorce and also get more depressed from being on my own. Help!"

  • 4716 The Truth About the Department of Justice vs Google
Philosopher Stefan Molyneux - who spent 15 years as a tech entrepreneur, building a successful environmental company - takes you through the history and current status of the anti-trust action brought against Google by the Department of Justice.

    From https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/20/doj-antitrust-lawsuit-against-google.html

Google now faces its first antitrust lawsuit by the Federal government as the Department of Justice announced charges against the tech giant. Eleven Republican state attorneys general have joined the DOJ as plaintiffs. Google’s search and advertising businesses are key areas of interest for antitrust regulators.

The Justice Department filed its long-expected antitrust lawsuit against Google on Tuesday alleging the company has unlawfully maintained a monopoly in search by cutting off rivals from key distribution channels.

Eleven Republican state attorneys general have joined the DOJ as plaintiffs.

Google’s stock barely moved following news of the suit. Shares were up more than 2% during afternoon trading.

The DOJ and states are bringing the complaint under Section 2 of the Sherman Act, alleging Google has unlawfully maintained monopolies in markets for “general search services, search advertising, and general search text advertising.”

“Google is the gateway to the internet and a search advertising behemoth,” U.S. Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen said. “It has maintained its monopoly power through exclusionary practices that are harmful to competition.”

The states in the lawsuit are Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina and Texas.

  • 4715 In the Name of Elvis, Saving the World is NOT What You Think!
    16 October 2020 Call-In

Intro: what sorts of hobbies do you do?

0:10 - A listener plays an Elvis medley for us!
    - Heartbreak Hotel
    - Are You Lonesome Tonight?
    - Blue Suede Shoes
    - Don't Be Cruel
    - You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog

0:41 - Follow-up question to the Necrophilia show: after listening, I began to consider how this applied to me. I've not observed many functional relationships and thus began to ask myself, how do I train my mind to look for value in relationships? How do I know what to look for when I don't know what that looks like?

1:00 - Can you expand on the concept that you started to get into with the recent call in about negotiating with 2 year olds? What of the argument that small children do not have a sense of self enough to form conceptual ideas required for negotiating.
Specifically, isn't it facetious to start a conversation about choice regarding things that a parent has no intention of compromising on, such as teeth brushing, bathing, eating veggies, etc. And speaking to a small child with no sense of self, is it productive or good to bring in the factor of choice?
Alternatively, is creating a sense of 'this is just the way things are' more productive for small children? As in, the sun rises and we get dressed and eat breakfast. We don't negotiate with the sun rising, nor getting dressed or eating breakfast.

1:19 - Following up regarding our previous conversation, I feel very stuck, not really sure what to do next. I'm experiencing a lot of self doubt. Can you help?
