"Hello, My name is [X] I am 20 years old and I would love to talk to Stef about a few different things.

I have often wondered when does personal responsibility and having a bad childhood meet? At what point do we put the blame on that individual and not there upbringing? Is there a point or is your life strongly determined by those early years and you will forever be a "victim" to your early years? This question I have often pondered because I look at my own life and the bad childhood. I was molested by boys and girls in my neighborhoods at a very young age and those things continued until I was 11, I was exposed to pornography very young, my mother died when I was 8, my ex step moms neglected me heavily and at times hit me, their kids did similar things to me growing up, my father abandoned me for a time to my horrible ex step moms after my mom died, and it goes on. These things have shaped me to who I am but I don't see myself as a victim. I'm a guy who is married to his best friend and high school sweetheart with a great job with greater opportunities coming. I have a great social circle with the best friend, but even before those things I felt I have built a resiliency or tolerance for bad things which has made me stronger.
Maybe it comes from my religious views, views on the world, and also I think it is probably strongly influenced by people like Stef whom have become such a positive influence in my life over the years. I don't feel like I'm gifted in anyway I just work hard and try to live my life
within a set of values.

The reason I say this is because I listen to countless people who call in that have experienced absolutely horrific childhoods. Those childhood experiences obviously have greatly affected their current place in life. My question is I guess simply, when do we tell someone "you had a bad childhood that's why you may be where you are now so lets fix it" vs "it doesn't matter your childhood, pick yourself up and take responsibility for your life". All I can compare this too is
myself and my own terrible childhood and where I am now which is the best place I have been in my life.

I would just love to talk to Stef about this as he has greatly influenced my life and this is a question I have often wondered while listening to him.

"Hey Stef,

How are things?

How about that title as clickbait? I wish it were fake news, but it is not.

Was curious if you might be able to give some philosophy on this life topic whether we talk or not.

I know we chatted last year, and boy, have some things changed. Short version: Wife found out she was pregnant in December last year and she has been instantly against it. Wanted an abortion and didn’t want to tell anyone. I said NO. She has been very upset since then. We have been to therapy on this, but she is not open minded to being a mother. She has threatened divorce and doesn’t want anything to do with the child.

I’ve been scouring the internet and talking with friends and I have not found any anecdotes of this situation. All of the stories I have found are the male/female situations reversed (I.e. woman gets pregnant, wants to keep baby, and boyfriend wants to pay for abortion).

I’ve been trying to talk and/or craft a plan to do the best in this situation, and I’m struggling.

Have you or have you had any callers that have heard of this? It’s boggling my mind.

"One student is dead and at least seven students have been injured in a shooting at a Colorado school on Tuesday, according to authorities.

"The deceased male, who has not been identified, was 18 years old.

"Two suspects are in custody, Douglas County Undersheriff Holly Nicholson Kluth told reporters during a press conference. Emergency dispatchers received reports that shots were fired at the STEM School in Highlands Ranch just before 2 p.m., according to a tweet by the sheriff's office.

"Investigators believe one of the suspects is an adult and the other is a juvenile, and they are both students at the school, Douglas County Sheriff Anthony Spurlock told reporters. They were not previously under the "radar" of law enforcement, Spurlock said, adding that he would not be releasing their identities."

"Authorities have identified one of the two suspects in a shooting Tuesday at a public charter school in Colorado just eight miles from Columbine High School.

"Devon Erickson, 18, has been held in the attack at STEM School Highlands Ranch in which seven students were injured and one killed, reported 9News, the Denver NBC news outlet.

Both Mr. Erickson and the other suspect were students at STEM School.
“We do not have any other suspects, we have all the people who were involved,” Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock told reporters earlier in the day.
Neither Mr. Erickson nor his purported accomplice had previous criminal records or contact with the police as, for example, Parkland, Florida, shooter Nikolas Cruz did.

“We did not have them on any radar that we know of,” Sheriff Spurlock said.

"According to News9, Mr. Erickson got a ticket for careless driving last year in Douglas County, but has no other criminal record.

"The TV station reported that a home owned by James and Stephanie Erickson was being cordoned off with yellow police tape and searched Tuesday evening.

"Mr. Erickson had said on social media, according to a report in Heavy.com, that he hated Christians for their teaching on homosexuality and his accounts suggested he was not a fan of President Trump."

"My name is [X], and I am 28 years old. My husband and I got married when I was 21. I have been a homemaker for the past almost 4 years, and my husband and I both really enjoy and appreciate a more traditional approach to our marriage relationship, as well as outlook on life... except for one vital area on my behalf - I can’t seem to bring myself to want children.

"I understand fundamentally and philosophically the importance of building a family, particularly a strong nuclear family, and I also really enjoy looking into traditional family structures and studying the best methods of raising children, etc. (with influence from your show as well of course). I want to will myself to desire children, but I just can’t. The fear of having them and all it entails scares me to the point of having not taken that step with my husband, despite being married 7 years and being in my late 20s, and with that knowing the clock is ticking. I have some surface level reasonings I believe are at play for this, having not had good parenting while growing up and that stemming into issues within myself, but I believe it would be beneficial to examine in depth why this is something I struggle with so deeply.

"My husband is a very solid man and supportive of me, including in this area, but I know he truly would want to build a family, and I feel guilt over not giving that to him. This is a turmoil I have felt for years (with zero pressure from him, this is just internal), and there has been a time or two I tearfully told him that because I know he desires that deep down and I feel should have it, that he should seek someone who will give that to him. This is something we have had to work through, as that is something he would never do and says that me and our relationship is more important to him than the outcome of whether we have a family or not. I understand this, but at the same time still feel this weight of not providing that to him when it’s something I feel he truly should have.

"Moreover with this, I want to be able to explore why this is a struggle I have, to gain clarity on it, and I feel you are the person who can help with that. I love watching all of your shows.
