  • FDR3299 What Caused The Great Depression? | Lawrence W. Reed and Stefan Molyneux
In the aftermath of the Stock Market Crash of October 1929, financial panic gripped the United States of America. The Great Depression (1929-1941) was the longest-lasting sustained economic downturn in the history of the Western industrialized world.

Foundation for Economic Education President Lawrence W. Reed joins Stefan Molyneux to debunk the conventional view and they discuss the central role that government policy played in fostering this legendary catastrophe.

Lawrence W. Reed is the President of the Foundation for Economic Education and the author of many books, including “Great Myths of the Great Depression.” https://fee.org

  • FDR3298 An Apology From Women to Men - Call In Show - May 20th, 2016
Question 1: [2:23] - “I am a middle-class, white female, seventh generation Australian and have also been accused of killing Aborigines. ‘You killed Aborigines’ is the Australian version of ‘You are responsible for slavery.’ I have had my fair share of being called racist and xenophobic for attempting to discuss contemporary issues. It is particularly awkward in the workplace, where I am no longer prepared to discuss such issues.”

“I recently saw a male TV host denigrate a Trump supporter in an interview by calling him a white, middle class man. The reporter himself was a white, middle class man. How would this scenario have played out if he had said similar to a woman - or if a female reporter had said the same to a man she was interviewing?”

Question 2: [52:53] - "I am a 38-year-old single mom. Stefan has made the case for women apologizing to men for decades of abuse. While I have apologized to men and boys in my personal life, what would an apology from women to all men look like?"

Question 3: [1:37:23] - “During some of your recent shows, you proposed and reaffirmed the idea of needing heroes and either being a hero yourself, or supporting a hero, in order to fight the ever-growing evil in the world. You also mentioned that only about 1,000 people have shaped the course of history of our species. So, my question is, what kind of heroism are you talking about? At the current rate of growth of evil in the world, do we need more heroes than hero supporters? Must the heroes we need be of the influential caliber to be added to the list of 1,000 or is being a peaceful parent and spreading philosophy heroic enough to turn the tides at this stage?”

Question 4: [2:17:37] - “Do you believe that the way society reacts to ‘deadbeat dads’ compared to the motherly equivalent displays that the man is almost solely responsible for a pregnancy/child - given the vitriol demonstrated against a father abandoning his duties compared to a mother?”

  • FDR3297 DOOM 2016 REVIEW
OK, so Doom 2016 has been released, so roll out your caffeinated IV drip, get your eye drops and get ready to not go to the bathroom - or even blink - until the sun rises tomorrow, at which point your eyes will be so bloodshot you'll think you're still on Mars anyway.

Over the past decade or two, there has been a somewhat depressing theme in first-person shooters, which is the attempt to build some sort of plot around the mindless kaleidoscopic pixel mayhem that originated the genre. Characters have been given back stories, family relationships, neuroses, sex drives, romance and, heaven help us, some sort of conscience...

  • FDR3296 RIDING THE FIRE AND ICE SPACE UNICORN - Call In Show - May 18th, 2016
Question 1: [1:42] - “In your wide ranging interview with Peter Schiff, as in most of your opinions, I sensed an avoidance from meaningful discussion of taxation, and of the philosophy thereof. The Trump campaign has correctly identified taxation of imports as a necessary change from present practice, but without identifying its’ most meaningful justification, taxation unequal to that on national production. What is your opinion of importing goods and services at a cost excluding the same level of taxation included in the cost of those nationally produced? And secondly, can you justify a taxation base of income?”

Question 2: [40:47] - “If you want to know if God is real, why don’t you simply meet Him since nothing, other than yourself seems to prevent the encounter?”

Question 3: [1:33:20] - “Are humans naturally hierarchical?”

Question 4: [2:31:45] - “Given Stefan has identified that atheists are more likely to adopt far-left political views, would he recommend one raising their children in a church-going, God-fearing Christian environment? The idea behind this is if your kids do not become the poster-children of free-thinking, rational individuals, then at least they can fall back on their beliefs that better promote what Western society stands for. And hey, if they are rational people and later come to the realization that God doesn’t exist, then they can just throw that concept away then. No harm, no foul.”

  • FDR3294 The Danger of Circumcision | Tim Hammond and Stefan Molyneux
The Global Survey of Circumcision Harm (GSCH) was launched because the medical community has never investigated the long-term adverse physical, sexual, emotional or psychological consequences of infant/childhood circumcision on the health of adult men.

From his film Whose Body? Whose Rights? to his ongoing Global Survey of Circumcision Harm, Tim Hammond has spoken out for decades about the right of boys and men to a whole body, and about the lifelong damages caused by male circumcision.

Tim Hammond presents findings from the Global Survey of Circumcision Harm International Genital Autonomy Conference: https://vimeo.com/132639344

  • FDR3291 The Multicultural Melting Pot - Call In Show - May 13th, 2016
Question 1: [1:48] - “I'm from the island of Puerto Rico. Lately in the local news and media, the hottest subject is ‘The Mental Health of the Puerto Rican people.’ This arises because professionals attribute the ailments of our society: crime, rape, murder and recently the amount of pedophilia, to our low standards on the subject of Mental Health. The governments solution has been to spend millions of dollars, even with the islands non-existent economy, into public Mental Health services. Are mental health issues the cause of the problems in Puerto Rico?”

Question 2: [52:12] - “I don't understand how you can diagnose cultural neuroses as a function of ‘innate biological limits’ prevalent in ‘low IQ populations,’ rather than to the childhood trauma that those populations endured, while at the same time recognizing the correlation between adult war and childhood trauma, per your advocacy of Lloyd deMause's book. Surely, if you recognize a correlation between trauma (aka, child abuse) and war (aka, a low IQ cultural neurosis), then mustn't you recognize a correlation between "cultural IQ limits" and the experiential trauma that the children of those cultures endured?”

“What I observe you doing here is selectively applying the rational principle that cultural neuroses originates from trauma (not biology, per se), thus depriving this important and sensitive rationalization to certain cultures' neurotic behavior. Upon what rational basis can you explain why you selectively apply this rational principle to some human populations but not to others?”

Question 3: [1:44:04] - “I'm in my late 20's and have been dating a single mother with two children for a year and a half. We met at work and began dating for pleasure. She has many qualities in a woman that I like. She is attractive, able to hold a professional job, and is able to raise children in a relatively healthy way. She has also become receptive to some of the things you talk about in your show, such as problems with welfare programs and immigration. However, as someone who looks forward to having a child or two of my own someday, I am uncertain if it makes sense to settle down with her or if it would be best to move on and start fresh.”

Question 4: [2:46:33] - "Stefan, I agree with many of Donald Trump’s stated policies, though I may not agree with many of his characterizations of immigrants. That aside, I find his foreign policy most concerning. I understand that secrecy is necessary as a part of military strategy, but then why hasn't Trump had independent and respected military strategists review his plans behind closed doors and then give public endorsements? Knowing that you had to keep secrets ahead of time, but then failing to mitigate the impact this has on the public seems like a major misstep. Moreover, his statements about killing the families of terrorists, seems to me irreconcilable with the NAP. How, for instance, can you justify the killing of terrorist's grandparents?"

  • FDR3289 The End of Political Correctness - Call In Show - May 11th, 2016
Question 1: [2:10] - “I'm a college student and I am constantly around the left. Black Lives Matter, student protesters and college professors are very angry and constantly shutting down speech. I believe they are projecting their dysfunction onto others. What type of childhoods did these people have? And did conservative parents fail to instill conservative values into their children?”

Question 2: [1:22:16] - “I am a single mom, and I understand that I choose this and I could have prevented it. My boyfriend (soon be husband) showed me your videos and I have learned a lot from it. My question is, by getting married will that change the negative repercussions of single parenthood?”

Question 3: [1:42:50] - "Brazil is going through a massive political and economic crisis. Most citizens are unhappy with the government and the main political parties are being investigated on charges of corruption. In face of such blatant incompetency and corruption - why do leftists still support the government?”

Question 4: [2:18:39] - “I have a question about refugee crisis in the Middle East. Why China is not involved in accommodating or supporting any refugees even though they have many large empty cities?”

  • FDR3287 Single Mother by Choice - Call In Show - May 10th, 2016
Question 1: [1:40] - “I've been thinking the past couple of years about becoming a single mother by Choice (I know, all single mothers are by choice or at least by a string of bad choices, but I see this as an examined, purposeful choice) I saw your videos about single moms and they really have my wheels turning - what other things should I be considering in this decision? I'm sure there are things I haven't yet considered.”

“A little about me and my situation: I'm 31, finishing my undergraduate degree in two weeks, and will be going on to grad school this fall. In two years I'll have a Master's degree, and would wait a couple years after that before trying to have a child. I've wanted to have a child for several years yet have no desire to be in a long term romantic relationship. I've struggled a while with that but finally came to the realization that I'm aromantic - but that doesn't decrease my desire to have and raise a child. I think that as long as I wait until I'm in a stable place in life and go about it ethically, being single shouldn't exclude me from having a child. I'll be financially self-sufficient and won't have a string of surrogate fathers in the child's life. I would love to hear your perspective on this subject.”

Question 2: [51:32] - “I’m coming from the USSR and seeing our family’s property been confiscated twice due to the success and the jealousy of the people around you. We have a saying in Russia ‘tell everyone you are doing bad otherwise they will steal it from you.’ I feel like a lot of young people out there have no idea what the socialism is and how bad it could be for the entire civilization. I feel emotionally drained every time I fight people around trying to prove them wrong and I feel like all the fighting is taking me away from my personal freedom or goals; how can I line up my goals along with helping people see what a true nightmare socialism is?”

Question 3: [1:29:34] - “In a free market, what should be the limits of what you can own, as to maximize liberty? With the abolishment of slavery, we understood that human life should not be subject to propertization. Does this extend elsewhere, and how could we justify either position rationally? My foremost object of interest would be land in an economical sense (that is, landmass and natural resources). Doesn't complete procurement of land trespass on future generations freedom? I think it is pretty clear that the radical viewpoint in either direction leads to bizarre situations. Where do we draw the line, and how do we justify this?”
