We were invited to do a paranormal investigation with our friend Louise and her friends.  We rented the Kellogg house on a Saturday night from 8pm -12am.
This is a conversation about our experience as beginner investigators.  What TO DO and what NOT to do, and YES we had some ACTIVITY.

Mr. Kellogg built this Queen Ann era Victorian for his second wife as a wedding gift.  Find out what happened to Sybil because we could not find this story on the internet. Our host confirmed what our friend saw and told us the story.

Our cocktail of choice for this Victorian Ghost Story is
a Rhubarb Martini.

Rhubarb Martini
2 oz Rhubarb syrup (T* made and you can see how on out Paranormal Cocktails TikTok )
1 oz Lime Juice
1oz Vodka we LOVE KING ST vodka

Shake ingredients over ice and pour into a sugar rimmed martini glass. Cheers!

Basically, Stephen King vs Stanley Kubrick and although the movie is a horror feat we are siding with Stephen here.  We’re going to have some spoilers if you haven’t read the book but THEY’RE worth hearing.  Who’s character was done DIRTY?  Why did the film adaptation differ so much?  You may be surprised just like we were.

Did we like the REDRUM cocktail?

REDRUM COCKTAIL
2oz Dark Rum
1/2oz Honey Jack
1/4 oz Luxardo liqueur
Orange and Cinnamon Stick Zest
Luxardo Cherries

Muddle cherries in the bottom of your glass fill w/ice.  Shake all other ingredients and pour over ice. Garnish with cinnamon stick.

We recommend adding more cherry flavor or fresh orange juice.

You still should read the book or at least get the audio version to play during your commute or while your decorating for the Holidays.

We’re still unsure about the cocktail but this episode is our most favorite to date.

Having just finished reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne written in 1870 Tamantha is fascinated by the novels technical advancements, environmentalists attitude and incredible situations within the story. Wait? The KRAKEN is the Nautilis.

Why did Walt Disney’s movie available on Disney + version differ from the book?
Roni enjoys The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie released in 2003 to this day. 

We compare book vs movies and tell our own SEA STORIES while we were underway in the U. S. Coast Guard.

Dark and Stormy
1 oz Kraken Rum
Juice of 1 Lime
3 parts Ginger Beer
Garnish w/Lime wheel

Fill glass with ice add 3 parts Ginger Beer, add Lime Juice, float Dark Rum and garnish with a Lime wheel.

Disney + has secured a Captain Nemo Live Action series that will be called Nautilus.

It’s VETERAN’s Day and we’d like to thank our fellow Veterans for their service.  With a special thank you to Brad Pitt for playing a veteran everyone should have as a friend, Cliff Booth World War II Veteran which makes this episode fitting to air today.

We do love a good QT film and Once Upon A Time in HOLLYWOOD 2019 did not disappoint.  Oh to be hippies.  Just kidding those F*kn Hippies are not OK! This movie is filled with fun quotes and nostalgic scenes.  Seriously though, this pop culture movie hit brought out the BEST of a very tragic true crime story.  The bromance ensues while a very different SPOILER ALERT Sharon Tate ending plays out.  Based on a couple real characters most of the movie is not based on the true story.

We explore Charles Manson’s hippie cult and who is vulnerable to being in a cult.  It may surprise you.  It certainly wasn’t all peace, love and happiness.

Do we have a connection to Manson? In a weird way we do.

If you’re in Los Angeles you should definitely eat at El Coyote Cafe and Casa Vega Both of these historic restaurants are featured in the film. How does the food and margaritas measure up?  We’ll give you our review.

Roni makes us a frozen Flame Thrower Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita.

1 oz Contreau
2 oz Tequila (Thanks for the bday drizzly order Ms. Chrissy!)
.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice (from T’s tree)
.5 cup whole Strawberries
.25 oz Simple Syrup (T made ours)
1 slice Jalapeño (1 slice Spicy, 2 slices Hot, 2 slices FIRE)
.5 cup crushed ice

Step 1
Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender & blend to combine.
Step 2
Pour into a margarita glass (we used vintage tumblers) rimmed with chili-lime seasoning.  Sprinkle more chili-lime seasoning on top of cocktail if desired.

We doubled recipe and made 2 + servings.

We are enamored with the Conjuring Universe movie franchise and the couple behind the movies.  Being raised Catholic our faith crosses paths with delight in what these movies bring to life. With jump scares, superstition and Jesus winning.

Our conversation visits some fun facts about Ed and Lorraine Warren.  But how exactly did Tamantha get a hold of some Vatican Holy Water? Oh and she just happened to attend the Annabell 2 movie premiere as a guest of Stephanie Sigman?  Total name drop.

Full Moon Martini
1/2 cup Coconut Cream
1/2 cup Water
1 oz Vodka *we like King St.
Blackberries to garnish
Sugar to rim glass

Combine 1/2 cup water w/a 1/2 cup coconuts cream, mix well and pour into circular ice cube molds. Place into freezer for 5-6 hours.  We popped our coconuts spheres into a coupe glass, poured our vodka right over the sphere and garnished with blackberries.  This step is different from the recipe link below.  We enjoyed watching our coconuts cream spheres melt down to create a lovely vodka slush.

One two...we’re coming for you...
Are you a 1980’s teenager like us?   We were only 10 years old when the Nightmare franchise began and didn’t watch Wes Craven’s film till 3 years later.  It probably was on HBO or something our Grandma Gay had subscribed to on cable.

Anyway, here we are discussing Freddy the monster icon that he is.  1980’s horror and where Roni met Robert Englund out of character.  Oh, and are you familiar with Josh Gates Tonight?  T* is a new fan girl of his. We feel like we’re connected in his pandemic show  format. Coincidence?

Nightmare on Elm Street continues to trend with Vans release of the Horror collection which includes a X Nightmare on Elm Street Sk8 High shoe.  We’re here for it.

Although the pandemic kept us from traveling to new haunts, we’ve made the most of what is available to us.  This season we are hyper focused on POP CULTURE, LOCAL SO CAL SPOTS and showing you what we’re working on at home.  We’ve had some fun and hope you will join us for all of SEASON 2.

2 oz Peach Schnaaps
6 oz Orange Juice

Pour Peach Schnapps and add orange juice to taste.
Garnish with an orange slice.

Pumpkin Pie Layered Shot
1/3 Kahlua
1/3 Bailey’s
1/3 White Tequila
Cinnamon

Carefully layer liquors in a shot glass.  Light on fire and sprinkle w/cinnamon for that extra spark. SAFETY FIRST please take caution when making this shot. Cheers!

Who really is the monster in this story? We visit and discuss the frantic tale of Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus written by English author Mary Shelley in 1818.

We’re engrossed with revisiting Classic Monsters.  After our Valentine’s Episode #20 titled My Darling Dracula aired  a friend requested that we feature Frankenstein  next.  We were happy to oblige.

This horrific tale written by Mary Shelley (original author of Sci-Fi) that pits science and religion against each other.  Her story full of anguish, questions our own morals and ethics in the name of those we love.  Join us and explore the true nature of humanity and the relatability of this astonishing story.

No episode would be complete without a lovely refreshment while we talk about this garish monster and similar or inspired pop culture points of interest.

Roni found this delightful drink on Lauren Conrad’s blog which was posted in 2018.

Frankenstein Matcha Mule
2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Ginger Beer
4 oz. Iced Matcha Green Tea or Powder
1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
Black Sprinkles or Sugar
Honey

Coat rim of your glass in honey and then dip in black sprinkles (T used black sugar).  Squeeze lemon juice into your glass.  Pour vodka, ginger beer and matcha green tea over ice and stir.
