Ryan Jones is a man who needs no introduction. Having played rugby at the highest levels for Wales and the British & Irish Lions, Ryan has achieved so much in the sport he clearly loves and remains an active part of today.
Since retiring from rugby in 2015, he has taken up endurance sports namely triathlon having completed several IronMan events, ultra marathons and so much more. During lockdown, he embarked on a fundraising initiative where he:
- Ran a marathon in his garden
- Cycled 100 miles with 100 friends on a turbo trainer
- Ran 100 miles in his house on a treadmill within 24 hours.
We discuss the transition from playing rugby at the highest level to competing in multidiscipline and endurance sporting events, the psychology behind his approach and what his goals are for the future.
