Johnson is the veteran mastermind of the long running collective Fruit Bats. Raised in Chicago and based in Los Angeles, he came up with his friends in The Shins and Modest Mouse. Over time, his Fruit Bats project refined an esthetic all its own. The latest is A River Running To Your Heart. Meanwhile, in Canada, young songwriter Cat Clyde built a strong following for her first recordings before the pandemic stole her momentum. It took hard work and resilience to make her 2023 release Down Rounder, a labyrinth of emotion, sound and catharsis. Cat joins the show from a temporary base in Ontario.
