Have you ever admired those people who do the voice–over on radio and TV? Do you think they have a special voice? Maybe you can do it too, and each person’s voice is special enough, though not everyone’s voice is “deep”. After some training, you can speak just like a professional, here’s how:
Before we kick start, let’s try to relax your body, take it easy, as your voice will not listen to you if you are nervous. We take a deep breath today! Try taking many deep breath before you read anything, so you will be more confident, and you can speak with your “belly”, instead of your “throat”. Did you just take a deep breath? OK, let’s do it together—breathe in,…and breathe out. Do it again and look at your shoulders, did they move while breathing in? See? that’s the problem, please DO NOT raise your shoulders when taking a deep breath! The key to this warm-up practice is no-moving your shoulders when breathing. So basically your body doesn’t move when you breathe, and it’s better you take at least 5 times of deep breath everyday from now on. After 5 and more deep breath, let’s read the following:
A---I’m afraid you made a mistake. B---Before you buy the bee, beat Bill.
C---Cindy says she doesn’t see the sea. D---Diligence is the mother of good luck.
E----Eat to live, but not live to eat. F—Find the left for Phil.

You’re tired before you go to work, tired after a long day, and don’t want to deal with bumper-to-bumper traffic and everyone driving like a nut. It’s enough to give you a horrible headache. While there’s certainly more congestion at these times of day, there are ways to avoid it.This is Frank Mars with Frank Mars Learning English,we are talking about rush hours today. Plan Out Your Morning and Leave Earlier☞ A good tip to avoid some of the traffic is to get an earlier start. Try out different times—leaving five minutes earlier, 15 minutes earlier—to see what might be better. In order to do this without losing any sleep, you need to plan out your morning. This means packing up your briefcase and setting your clothes out the night before. Rather than taking the time to eat a leisurely breakfast, pack it to go. Leaving Work I once had a job where they let me work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and I never had to deal with rush hour traffic. If your bosses are nice, consider switching to a work schedule that will let you leave earlier and, if that’s not the case, leave a little later. Leaving at 5:00 p.m. is going to guarantee the worst traffic because that’s when everyone leaves. You were going to relax when you got home, so just bring a book to work or pop in a TV show on your computer. Better yet, you could join a gym near work. Even leaving 15 minutes later could help. Change Your Route Some roads are just terrible, no matter what. Check E maps or ask a co-worker for alternate routes. After work, I used to take a major road home. The speed limit was high, but the traffic moved at a crawl, taking about 15 minutes to make a left turn through one intersection. Instead, I found an alternative route: the speed limit was much lower, but it had so little traffic that it ended up taking much less time, and was less stressful.If you do get stuck on a highway and there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of back road alternatives, consider changing where you get on the highway. The most congested parts tend to be at toll ways, so consider entering after one. Proper planning is key.Planning out your day (and your week and your month) can be a real help. If you take a few minutes early in the day to get a handle on what you need to do you can better manage your time and keep tasks from stacking up.Once you've done your planning, do yourself a favor and set aside some time to clear any small stuff off your plate. The things that tend to pile up at the end of days are usually smaller tasks, and there are usually quite a few of them. Knocking things out early on will help you build a productive momentum for your whole day. It's an unfortunate reality in nearly every major city—road congestion, especially during rush hours. Back off from aggressive drivers: You must realize that you can't control another driver's behavior, but you can control your own. When another driver cuts you off, how you react will determine what happens next. If you are able to back off, take a deep breath, and remain calm, then you can end a potentially violent situation.True, you might need to vent about the driver tailgating you all the way from town or the overly cautious driver who consistently drove under the speed limit. Most people now keep animals as pets. Numerous people have cats and dogs in their house. Other people like fish, caged birds and even snakes, monkeys or lions. Millions of dollars and much time are spent every year on pet food, equipment, training and medical treatment. Of course, there are some people who do not look after their pets properly or are even cruel to them. For this reason a royal society was created in 1824 in Britain to prevent cruel treatment of animals. In contrast to the love of pets is the fact that blood sports still exist in most countries. People go hunting foxes, elephants, and other animals, or go fishing, not because they need the meat to eat, but just for pleasure. In some countries, blood sports like bull fighting and cock fighting are common and hunting rare animals for money has brought about an even more serious problem in the protection of the ecosystem. (生态系统) It is strange that people love certain animal, but enjoy killing others, in cruel ways, too.

Positive Messages In Public Health Campaigns Could Be More Effective Than Negative Ones
For most people, hearing about the benefits of eating healthy food is a more effective push to change their behavior than hearing why they shouldn’t be eating junk, a new study claims.This is according to an analysis from Cornell University’s Food and Brand Lab of 43 published studies examining nutrition messages of public health campaigns.This is Frank Mars Learning English,I’m Frank Mars and we are discussing positive messages and positive thinking today:
The review found that negative messages — like “Eat healthy foods or lose years off your life!” — are effective for some audiences, particularly experts like physicians or nutritionists who are already knowledgeable in the field. However, positive messages about what someone should be eating and why it is good for them — such as “By eating healthfully, people can gain positive body image or energy” — tend to work better for a general audience that is less knowledgeable about nutrition.“If you’re a parent, it’s better to focus on the benefits of broccoli and not the harms of hamburgers,” said Cornell marketing and nutritional science professor Bryan Wansink.
Extending the research into the area of anti-smoking campaigns, the report argues that a positive message, like “If you quit smoking using this help line, you can save almost $2,000 a year,” would likely be more motivating to its audience than the negative message “Smoking kills you” that is more commonly used.Recent research on education has also come to a similar conclusion. A 2014 study from the American Psychological Association reported that students who felt threatened by their teachers’ fear-based words performed worse on tests because the scare tactics made the students less motivated to succeed.The Cornell study seems to indicate a change from the more attention-attracting public health campaigns of recent years, such as New York’s “Don’t Drink Yourself Fat” anti-soda campaign and France’s “Smoking Means Being a Slave to Tobacco”anti-smoking ads.
