College Grad Marriage Dropout Podcast uses its platform to try to help women find strength and the courage to get out of bad relationships sooner. They want women to be able to reclaim their lives and their freedom.
In the words of the founder of CGMD, we all know talking about divorce is a touchy subject for some. But there are so many people who suffer in silence. It is time for that to stop.
Kwei is the founder of College Grad Marriage Dropout. She is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She is a mother of 3. Kwei is a graduate of Penn State University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Phoenix. She is currently a full-time nurse practitioner student and a full-time registered nurse. Kwei has been blessed with being restored and finding herself again after a divorce. She loves, loves, loves her kiddos. During her free time, she enjoys singing and creating.
Reenie is the co-host of the College Grad Marriage Dropout podcast. After spending years in Corporate America in Higher Education and Social Work she decided to start living her life for her. While discovering herself again she found some core principles that have sculpted her into the woman she is today.
Today, we want to discuss how Full-Time Black Women like Kwei & Reenie to share how you too can pivot after divorce or the end of a long-term toxic relationship.

Black women are special. We are special for many different reasons, but right now we’re going to get a little heavy. Today we’re discussing the duality we face each and every day. As a double demo, we are uniquely tasked to see the world through the lens of our race and our gender. And at times, we are asked to choose which part of us to support over the other. In today’s pod, we’re doing an intro into the dilemma of being black and female, and how intersectionality is ever-present in our lives.
Kimberle` Crenshaw is a lawyer, activist, and intersectional feminist. She coined the term intersectionality in a paperback in 1989. In 2020 via an interview with TIME, she defines her term as a lens, a prism, for seeing the way in which various forms of inequality often operate together and exacerbate each other. We tend to talk about race inequality as separate from inequality based on gender, class, sexuality or immigrant status. What’s often missing is how some people are subject to all of these, and the experience is not just the sum of its parts.

Many women especially FTBW are in a unique dilemma during this pandemic. The professional workplace has moved from in-person to virtual or what we like to call “from office to couch”. There is a silent yet harrowing issue most working moms have to juggle from sun up to sundown. Full-Time Black Women across the country are trying to figure out how to be show-stopping employees or entrepreneurs and nurture and care for their children while attempting to hold onto their own sanity. Many women have opted to leave their employment during the pandemic while others have been forced out due to the lack of child-care. But staying at home and forgoing a paycheck is a choice many are unable to make. For single parents, quitting work may not be an option.
