As Full Timers, we are incredibly aware of the weight of all our responsibilities. But is that because we’ve been conditioned to bear the burden?
From a young age we are told, You can have it all. Be who you want to be. The sky is the limit!
And while the intention is good, have we been set up to fail?
Today we unpack three narratives we wish we could change.
1) Women can have it all.
2) Big boys don't cry.
3) Men as the provider.
But we don’t want to spoil it for you. Have a listen and let us know if you agree.

How many times a week do you look in your cupboard and think, "I have nothing to wear", and inevitably end up in the same uniform. For us, it's almost daily.
This is a battle even before kids, but since having our babies, with our bodies and identities changing, we've struggled with articulating in words and clothing what the new 'me' is - asking ourselves who am I? What is my identity, and how do I dress to reflect that?
We've got some strategies that we've put in place to help us with this - Ellie with her capsule wardrobe, and Bec just continuing on with her black wardrobe, but with a focus more on quality over quantity. We'll share our love for high waisted pants and our husbands hatred for them.
Go have a listen Full Timers, and hopefully it helps you think of ways to define the new YOU!

After an overwhelming response to our episode on being made redundant, we decided to dive a little deeper into a common feeling felt post-redundancy. That without our job, our sense of self and worth came into question. We felt lost, unsure of who we are or what our value is, and after receiving many messages from listeners the thing we all had in common was a deep insecurity about our identity.
We wanted to share some insight into what we did to help pull ourselves out of this feeling, to remind ourselves of what drives us, what motivates us, and that perhaps a silver lining is that we’ve both come to the conclusion that we need to cultivate an identity that our jobs contribute to, but are not solely responsible for.

So, do you want more kids? Are you having any more?
These are questions we get asked, and find ourselves asking each other, quite a lot at this stage of our lives; if the timing feels right to have another baby.
Firstly, we want to acknowledge how privileged we are to even have an option to choose to try for another baby, if any at all.
For us, we've had many discussions over glasses of wine, cups of coffee, and through voice notes about whether we should have more. If yes, is it the right time? What about work? What about our bodies? Is our age a factor? And the list continues.
We unpack all this and more in this new episode. And we hope this very honest and vulnerable conversation provides you with some helpful perspectives.
But one thing is for sure... there's never a good time. Just the right time.

As we head towards the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to do an episode on the ever important topic of Looking After You! But when you're so busy looking after everyone else, how do you factor that time in?
It's an overused cliche, but you know the airplane safety video that tells you to fit your oxygen mask before anyone else, because if you've run out of oxygen, no one else is safe? We're here to remind you that if you're not taking care of yourself, then chances are you can't take care of anyone else. Or, you can for a certain amount of time, until you crash.
Full Timers will never put themselves first but just like everyone else, we need time for us, we have to make ourselves part of the equation, and find ways to look after yourselves. We'll chat about how, when, and things you can do that give you some breathing space, beyond checking your phone on the toilet.

When you're full timer, it's easy to put your health last. But when could that cost your health, or life? For Ellie, she let insurance get in the way of checking her skin, and ended up having a melanoma. For Bec, pitches and meetings got in the way of a much needed doctors appointment that resulted in early stages cervical cancer.
This is a topic too important to ignore, and in honour of Frocktober, an Ovarian Cancer Research Fund initiative, we're frocking up to tell full timers to please get your boobs, bits and bodies checked, and tell your friends to do the same.
A note to listeners: this topic deals with the passing of loved ones so please bear that in mind before listening.

Returning to work after having a baby and maternity leave, no matter how long you take, is a life-altering experience. You return to a job and a place that knows you and you know them - yet your whole world is different and YOU are different.
You have a human that depends on you, hormones raging through your body and your priorities are completely different - yet you’re expected to be the same person as you were before.
We share some of the tactics and techniques that helped us manage this life-changing transition, why it’s important to start before you go on maternity leave, and how to communicate with your colleagues and bosses so that you return empowered and supported.

It seems everywhere you look, family, friends and colleagues are being made redundant. And we are no different.
Both of us have experienced redundancy in the last 2 years - both having quite different experiences but ultimately feeling exactly the same. Angry and frustrated. Feelings of hopelessness and sadness followed soon after, and it was then we realised we were experiencing the 5 stages of grief. Despite finding amazing new jobs in great agencies, the insecurities remain, questioning our worth and feeling like it could be just around the corner yet again.
We want to share our stories with you in the hope that, should you go through a redundancy, you feel heard and seen, and can apply some of the things that got us through it, to help you navigate this shitty time.
And if you have been made redundant, you will be ok.

Welcome to the Full Timers Club!
We are Ellie and Bec, best mates for the better part of a decade, mums to little ones, senior women in the ad industry, as well as full time wives, friends, daughters and everything else in between. I’m sure this sounds familiar to all the women listening.
To kick off our first season of The Full Timers Club, we're discussing everything from being made redundant, the taboos of wanting more kids when you’re a senior woman in advertising, how to look after yourself when you’re busy looking after everyone else, right through to your wardrobe strategy post a life changing event like becoming a mum.
Every episode aims to highlight what it takes to be a full timer in today's world; the ups and downs, the best and the worst. We certainly don’t have all the answers but hopefully we’ll share some of our own experiences and help you feel seen as Full Timers yourselves. Like you, we're flat out but we wouldn't have it any other way.
Oh, and no episode will be over 30 minutes. And if you listen to us at 1.5x speed like we all do, it’ll be just right for your morning commute. Welcome to the Full Timers Club.
