Fusion Youth Service - 20.07.2025 - We're continuing to follow Jesus' life through the gospels, and today begin looking at the conversation Jesus had with an important Jewish man called Nicodemus. We focused on one specific comment that Jesus made to him, though. Jesus pointed to this very strange story in the Old Testament, from the book of Numbers, which Jesus claimed was prophetic of His death on a cross. It's a great example of what we talked about last week - that everything in the Bible is connected, and that it is all about Jesus.

Fusion Youth Service - 13.07.2025 - This morning we did something a little different, and explored the surprising codes that appear within the ancient Hebrew text of the Torah (the first five books of the Bible). When I first discovered this, it blew my mind and completely changed the way that I viewed the Bible, and the respect and wonder that I had for God's Word. Every letter is there by design, for a reason, and it all points (in some way) to Jesus.

Fusion Youth Service - 29.06.2025 - This week we read about Jesus' first public outing, where he causes a bit of a ruckus. While in Jerusalem for Passover, Jesus confronts the people selling animals in God's Temple, which leads to another confrontation with the Jewish Leaders. Although we're studying this event from the John's gospel, it is also recorded by Matthew, Mark and Luke. But there are some problematic differences in their accounts, which appear to contradict John's record. We explore that apparent contradiction at the end of the lesson.

Fusion Youth Service - 22.06.2025 - This week we encounter Jesus' first miracle - turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana. We looked at what John meant by "the third day", what a disciple looked like in Jewish society, what the water in the stone jars was actually meant for, and the surprising principle that's found in the head steward's comment that most people serve the good wine first, but Jesus keeps the best for last.

Fusion Youth Service - 08.06.2025 - We continue with the gospel of John this week. After meeting Jesus, Andrew runs to share the good news with his brother, Simon. And Philip goes and tells a very skeptical Nathanael. Both Simon and Nathanael have quite unexpected encounters with Jesus. We also spend some time talking about what it really means (and costs) to follow Jesus.

This week we're back in John's gospel, to find out what happened when Jesus returned from His testing in the wilderness. John the Baptist finally identifies Jesus as the Messiah. Two of John's disciples follow Jesus, and Jesus invites them to come hangout with Him, which I recon must have blown their minds!

Fusion Youth Service - 18.05.2025

Immediately after Jesus' baptism, He finds himself alone in the wildness being tempted by the devil. That's what we discussed this morning. We talk all about temptation, why God allows it in Jesus' life, and why He allows it in ours. We also talk about how to overcome temptation - to pass the test - when we face it.
