COVID has shed a spotlight on the US healthcare system in many ways. One of the most heavily-debated policies has been the notion of Medicare for All - but how well is it understood? What has COVID revealed about our current healthcare system? Can M4A still happen in a Biden administration, and if not, when? To answer these questions, I wanted to turn to two people intimately familiar with the topic: Dr. Abdul El-Say-ed & Dr. Micah Johnson, the authors of Medicare for All: A Citizen's Guide.
Dr. El-Sayed is the former Detroit health commissioner, a progressive activist, and CNN commentator; Dr. Johnson is a Boston-based physician, healthcare researcher, and policy advisor.

The past year has been an interesting one for just about everyone, but especially for working parents, who in many cases had to reconfigure how to support their employers and care for their children on the fly. What does the future look like for working parents? To answer that question, I wanted to turn to Daisy Wademan Dowling. She’s the Founder & CEO of Workparent, an executive coaching, and training firm dedicated to helping working parents lead more successful and satisfying lives. She also writes about working-parent issues for Harvard Business Review and is the series editor for The HBR Working Parents Series collection of books. She’s been featured in the WSJ, NYT, Financial Times, and Washington Post. And finally, she’s the author of WORKPARENT: The Complete Guide to Succeeding on the Job, Staying True to Yourself, and Raising Happy Kids, out as of May 25th from Harvard Business Review Press.

The Waste Free World' reveals the history behind the acceleration of wasteful "linear consumption", which, according to author and Closed Loop Partners founder Ron Gonen, has cheated us out of taxpayer money, lucrative innovation, and a habitable planet. As the Recycling Czar under Mayor Bloomberg, he knows a thing or two about it. In the book, he makes a solid argument for a circular economic model, which we discuss in our interview.

The past year has shined a light on the fact that humans are biological beings. We’re great, but we’re also fallible. We can get sick. We physically tire. Which is what got me thinking about drones. I feel like there was a point where they were arguably over-covered as a topic; now, they are clearly undercovered in my estimation. Drones have the potential to be impactful to our way of life in so many ways. That’s why we wanted to speak to Hannan Parvizian. He’s the co-founder and CEO of Volansi, which builds and operates long-range, high-payload unmanned aerial systems for time critical parts and supplies. Their goal is to help customers save millions of dollars on down-time costs, receive life-saving supplies when needed most, and conduct demanding industrial jobs.

VisionX builds products that empower businesses to see and interpret the world like the human eye does via machine vision and machine learning, and PackageX builds on that to power digital and contactless mailrooms. Farrukh Mahboob is the founder and CEO of both, and we wanted to talk to him about machine vision systems, since they have the potential to transform so many different industries - the applications for this type of technology is endless, really. We talk about the most compelling cases for machine vision, how we can make cameras more intelligent, and the downside, if any, to machine vision systems.

The first step to delivering disruptive technology and ideas is to focus on thinking differently. Venturing outside of the box. But how can we turn away from the conventional thought processes we've been operating within through out our lives and embrace something completely new?
Michael Wade, professor of innovation strategy at IMD, author and holder of the Cisco chair in digital business transformation, has dedicated his career to answering that question. In his new book, ALIEN Thinking: The Unconventional Path to Breakthrough Ideas he explores what it means to achieve differentiated thinking, and how to get there within an organization.

So many of used to have gyms we went to all the time. March 2020 happened, and many people started focusing on at-home fitness. It’s been a huge category of late, which naturally attracts competition - and innovation. Ergatta is one of those innovators that jumped onto our radar recently. They combine elegant cardio equipment with an interactive gaming experience to deliver challenging, competitive, full-body workouts in the home.
We tracked down Tom Aulet, the founder and CEO of Ergatta, to talk with us about the future of at-home fitness, identifying a gap in an established market, whether at-home fitness is a fad or a trend, and how to convince people to try something new, like at-home rowing, site unseen.

The rules of business are changing dramatically. In her new book, The Six New Rules of Business: Creating Real Value in a Changing World, the Aspen Institute's Judy Samuelson describes the profound shifts in attitudes and mindsets that are redefining our notions of what constitutes business success. And given how rapidly our world is shifting at the moment, we thought she’d be the perfect person to have on.
A little more on Judy: she's a vice president at the Aspen Institute and founder and executive director of the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program. She previously worked in legislative affairs in California and banking in New York's garment center and ran the Ford Foundation's office of program-related investments. Samuelson blogs for Quartz at Work and is director of the Financial Health Network. In other words, you're in for a treat.
