This week is unfortunately full of heartache.  We are not having a good time.  We could both use some hugs. Big changes are happening in our lives this summer, and we take a minute to share all that’s going on. Keli gets productive with putting more of her new apartment together, and Kim opens up emotionally around her upcoming move. Since it is one of the top 5 stressors that we experience, it can be hard to leave something you know behind, and start fresh somewhere completely new, with people you’ve never met. We also ponder the way humans will communicate in the future, and how memes came to be, while discovering we both have a love for Dolly Parton, and remembering Kenny Rogers’ restaurant chain. Does anyone else think we won’t make it to 2021? Because Kim and Keli both feel like the world is about to end. Whatcha Drinking? This week it’s the Pear Elderflower seltzer from Bon Viv that we are all about! Kim tells off an old woman who wasn’t minding her own business at Home Goods, and Keli rants about the state healthcare’s disorganized system. Finally, I invite Kim to be a commentator for a future DnD session, and our podcat, Zeus, interrupts us with the urge to play.

Ya girls took a daycation to get away from all the *gestures wildly* in our hometowns. Mystic, CT had just what we needed: All the lobster, wine, scenic landscapes, records galore, and local shenanigans. Disclaimer, we did not go to Mystic Pizza, as the restaurant is good for a lot of things, but their pizza is mediocre at best. In short, we got a little taste of everything. Abbotts Lobster in The Rough (https://www.abbottslobster.com/) provided a much needed lobster feast that we definitely did not regret. Since we went in the middle of the week, we enjoyed our wine-down Wednesday at Jonathan Edwards Winery (https://www.jedwardswinery.com/), and a sweet treat at the original Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream (http://www.mysticdrawbridgeicecream.com/). After filling our bellies, we took a stroll down Main St. to take in the local tourist scene, checked out the Army and Navy Store, and bought a ton of records from Mystic Disc (http://mysticdisclp.com/). To end our daycation adventure, we checked out Friar Tuck’s Tavern (https://www.friartucksmystic.com/) across from my old haunt, Treehouse at the Oyster Club (http://www.oysterclubct.com/treehouse-at-oc-1). Overall it was a successful trip, and we plan on returning for more soon!

This episode is brought to you by Zeus; cat of the hour who is our recording guest, as it was recorded in his domain (aka. Keli’s bedroom). In keeping with the theme of different locations to test, this one has a babbling brook ambiance to it. Kim thinks she sees Stanley Tucci and makes Keli stop while they are on a car trip to pick up a pet gate. Sadly, it was not Stanley, but that is hopefully not the end of celeb sightings this summer for these two! We praise Let Go, the app where someone’s junk becomes someone else’s treasure, and the good vibrations of Keli’s new electric bed. Another thing that is on our minds… Is our podcast scaring away potential relationships we might have? Do guys we talk to on dating apps listen and then decide “Nah”? Descript comes into play as Keli has time to learn a new editing style, and Kim talks about her search for a new home. At the end, we take a visit back to dating and technology, and give some updates on where we’re at in terms of love. There isn’t too much focus this episode, but when are we ever consistent?

The best time to record a podcast is definitely right after brunch... Said no one ever. After a hectic week, Keli gushes about her new apartment, and Kim shares her obsession with the new puppy in her life. Also in the top of the pod: we talk briefly about the holiday weekend, and our delicious brunch outing on Sunday. The main event of this episode was to discuss the broadway show, Hamilton, one of Kim's all-time favorites, and Keli's new discovery of this amazing piece of art. There are many homages to other pop/rap/hip hop artists and a lot of little easter eggs that are thrown in that only add to the brilliance of Lin-Manuel Miranda's masterpiece. We'll let you use one of our Disney+ accounts to watch, because that's how good it is.... On a side note, one of the fashion styles we would like to see come back for men are pants tucked into nice riding boots, long waistcoats, and vests. Fellas, let's make it happen. For our 20th episode, we figured we would take a completely different route, and record our random conversation by the pool on Kim’s day off. We talk about a lot of topics; the many uses for a freezer, the true definition of commandeering, and weird noises we make, to begin with. Also on the list of topics - Bees, hornets, and wasps, oh my! In this episode we start the #flippinfabulous trend with our floppy hats, make up some strange voices, discuss how the song “Downtown” has so many “downtowns.” What if 2020 was a glitch in the timeline? What if this year is just a prank by a higher power and it could be removed? These are the things we think about when we’re just sitting around; there are some other topics that may or may not include the goal of Candy Land, Keli’s new unemployment status, beetles in butts, Pride holiday cards, or human-sized bugs. Black Lives Matter. There’s no “if”, “and”, or “but” about it. This week we address the systemic racism that has gone on too long in this country and the world. Black citizens are constantly being beaten, tortured, harassed and murdered by people in positions of power all over the world, in the middle of the night and in broad daylight. If you feel uncomfortable with what we’re saying, don’t complain to us; instead, we encourage you to educate yourselves and others. Only then can you be an ally, and contribute to change that, quite frankly, is hundreds of years overdue. We'll be continuously sharing resources for you to get involved and learn how to support Black communities, artists, businesses, voices, and other organizations committed to creating permanent change during this movement. Use your privilege and your voice to stand up to injustice. Help push our government and local law enforcement to hold their officers to the same standards they expect from the rest of the people living in this country. “With great power, comes great responsibility.” they need to be responsible for their actions, and if they abuse that power, they should be held accountable, plain and simple. We need justice for our Black brothers and sisters now, and that cannot happen if we don’t take action and rip out systemic racism by its roots.
