I am often asked what the most important financial measures are for owning or running a business. Is there just one? In short, the answer is “no.” However, there are three that I consider being key for business sustainability. If one of these measures indicates failure, the business will suffer.

In this episode, I outline the three measures I feel are key to business success. Can my argument be debated? Of course! But, I would be willing to engage in that debate any day. Businesses can only survive if we pay our bills and have money in order to do so.  Enjoy learning about the most important financial measures!

I woke up this morning, turned on the news and heard updates on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the inflation and pending recession, and I heard about the multiple crimes being committed at our border between Texas and Mexico. So, with all of this how can we be happy?

First, the choice is yours. You can decide to be happy and add value, or to live sad and go through each day depressed without any interest in helping your world. Secondly, attack each day knowing that during the day you will be challenged. Confront those challenges so you can maintain focus on your life’s purpose. You can only live out your life’s purpose when you are focused on moving forward in a positive manner. Being negative causes stagnation, don’t let that happen!

So, are we happy yet? I hope you are happy. But, the decision is ultimately yours.

We hear about inflation on the news almost daily. According to The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the United States is experiencing high inflation. In fact, our current inflation rate of nearly 8% is the highest it has been in forty years.  That said, the U.S. has experienced even higher inflation. After World War II the inflation rate was around 15%, which is much more than today’s 8%. 

So, is inflation a big deal?  Do we really need to plan for increased prices? Should business owners be concerned about inflation too?  Jeff tackles these questions and more in this episode from both a personal and business perspective.  How do we stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas with all that is going on this world? Society tells us that Christmas is about gifts. The news tells us that the world is heading to an ugly black hole. In this episode, Jeff talks with well-known actor and author Terry Weaver about his faith and his penchant for staying true to the real meaning of Christmas. Terry grew up in San Bernardino, a suburb of Los Angeles, California. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Military as a Navy Corpsman. He was deployed as a combat medic with the U.S. Marines and served a tour of duty in Kuwait and Iraq from 2002 to 2003. After five years of active duty, Terry received an honorable discharge.

He attended Mays Business School at Texas A&M and received the Pat Tillman Foundation Scholarship, established in the namesake of Army Ranger and NFL star player Pat Tillman, who was killed in action while serving his country. Terry earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2011 and completed his Master of Arts in Biblical Studies in 2020.

Terry spent over a decade in sales and marketing, and while doing so, he founded VEL INSTITUTE, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, that helps veterans advance in life through leadership and entrepreneurship training.

In 2019, Terry wrote and published The Evolution of A Leader, a book about the principles, habits, and mindsets of the greatest leaders of all time.

In early 2020, Terry wrote and published A Dark Day in Texas, an Eli Ridge novel. He also wrote and published his third book, All My Best: A Book of Wisdom and Encouragement for a Better Life, in late 2020. Whitewashed Tomb, Terry’s fourth book and second novel in the Eli Ridge series was published in the Fall of 2021.

Terry was selected as the lead actor in the forthcoming eight-episode television series, Breaking Strongholds, which is being filmed in Montgomery, Texas.
