Game Club

This week I played some of the excellent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (https://store.steampowered.com/app/920210/LEGO_Star_Wars_The_Skywalker_Saga/) and got to enjoy a less-than-serious take on some of my favorite movie moments from the series. I also tried Kingdom Hearts II (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2552430/KINGDOM_HEARTS_HD_1525_ReMIX/) for the first time and, after getting past the three-hour prologue, enjoyed what I played of it! Last but not least, this week I'm recommending Arby's steak nuggets (https://www.arbys.com/). They are exactly what it sounds like, but they're pretty tasty! This week I played the inventive and thoughtful Tunic (https://store.steampowered.com/app/553420/TUNIC/) and really enjoyed it, even if I felt lost half the time. I also tried out Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2552430/KINGDOM_HEARTS_HD_1525_ReMIX/) for the first time, and was not a huge fan. Last but certainly not least, this week I'm recommending the audiobook version of The Hobbit (https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Hobbit-Audiobook/1705009050?source_code=ASSGB149080119000H&share_location=pdp) that is read by Andy Serkis, who does a really fantastic job! This week I played Kingdom Hearts (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2552430/KINGDOM_HEARTS_HD_1525_ReMIX/) for the first time in ages and really enjoyed it! I also tried out Detroit: Become Human (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1222140/Detroit_Become_Human/), the game from Quantic Dream that's based on a tech demo (https://youtu.be/TDxOUD7AgJk?si=Cof1dH5aBhGwevXn) from 2012. Last but not least, I recommend the teaser for the upcoming film David (https://youtu.be/cyBHli_akQw?si=iwyfy-gLLmXJK433), which I invested in and comes out in December! This week I'm wrapping up my time playing "spooky" games with Diablo IV (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2344520/Diablo_IV/) - a really solid game if not a great Diablo game - and Dark Sector (https://store.steampowered.com/app/29900/Dark_Sector/), which may be the creepiest of all the games I played this month! Last but not least, I highly recommend the demo for Marvel Cosmic Invasion (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4013980/MARVEL_Cosmic_Invasion_Demo/), which is an upcoming arcade beat-em-up starring Marvel heroes. This week I played Diablo III (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/family/diablo-iii) and found I enjoy it maybe even more than Diablo II (gasp!). I also played Fallout: New Vegas (https://store.steampowered.com/app/22380/Fallout_New_Vegas/) and found I like other Fallout games more (horror!). I also recommend the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, they hold up really well! This week I played the sequels to each of the games I played last week! First up, Diablo II (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/family/diablo-ii), specifically the excellent Resurrected edition, followed by Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2183900/Warhammer_40000_Space_Marine_2/). These are both really good games, and worthy sequels! Last but not least, I recommend Fractal Design (https://www.fractal-design.com/) for some cool computer parts and excellent customer service. This week kicks off a month playing some games that could be considered "spooky"! First up, Marvel's Midnight Suns (https://store.steampowered.com/app/368260/Marvels_Midnight_Suns/) from Firaxis. A Marvel tactics game with a twist! I also finally played Hollow Knight (https://store.steampowered.com/app/367520/Hollow_Knight/) for the first time. Pretty solid game! Last but not least, I wanted to recommend an upcoming game called Agent 64: Spies Never Die (https://youtu.be/vsGxG1GPN-A?si=iJQ1w4X7l5Yr2nK3) that looks like it'll be a fun throwback to some classic shooters. This week I played Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/mario-plus-rabbids-kingdom-battle-switch/) as well as its sequel, Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope (https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/mario-plus-rabbids-sparks-of-hope-switch/). This wild combination of Mario characters and insane Rabbids is actually a lot of fun! This week I also recommend going out for a bike ride as I've been doing. Also a lot of fun! This week I played the excellent Gears Tactics (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1184050/Gears_Tactics/) as well as the latest XCOM game, Chimera Squad (https://store.steampowered.com/app/882100/XCOM_Chimera_Squad/). Both really good turn-based tactics games! I also recommend the composer Sarah Schachner (https://www.sarahschachner.com/music) who has done some of my favorite video game music, including Anthem and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
