Games Witticism episodes

  • Episode 14 - Please, Go Into the Hellmouth
On this edition of Games Witticism, we finally don't have anything Persona-related to discuss. That won't last for very long, but enjoy the respite while you can. Instead, I recommend Retro/Grade and Resident Evil Revelations before gushing about Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Curtain Call. Alex gets nostalgic for Fable 1 and (the new) Gauntlet, and then brings Hammerwatch and Endless Legend to our attention. And Luke manages to win an award for "Most Disparate Games Discussed" by starting with Destiny and ending with D4.

  • Episode 13 - Tell Me More About Your Waifu
Another podcast, another week of me rambling about Persona 4. Specifically, I attempt to explain why Rise Kujikawa is the best while Luke and Alex just roll their eyes. I then go into the the clever twists that Level 5 has introduced to the typical Phoenix Wright formula in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright. Once I'm finally finished babbling, Luke talks about why he likes Destiny. Finally, we close out the podcast by taking a stance on #GamerGate and Phil Fish.

  • Episode 12 - Live at the Big Shell
That's right, folks, we've got a special episode for you this week. It was broadcasted live during Luke's livestream of MGS2, and we have a couple special guests with us: Huntera and John Hamm. Listen to us talk even more about Persona and Metal Gear; and then witness us combine two of our obsessions by making a Metal Gear Solid family inside of The Sims, because our expertise is apparently limited to three or four different franchises.

  • Episode 11 - Rise of the Planet of Goofy
I'm posting this a bit late due to real life getting kinda busy lately, but thankfully we never really talk about anything that could be considered timely. For example, this episode includes discussions about: Sims 2, 3 and 4; Persona 4 Golden and Arena (again); Final Fantasy 14; and tabletop games. Turns out the best way to not date yourselves is to never bother with new things.

  • Episode 10 - Our Rise Who Art in Heaven
Will there ever be an episode of Games Witticism where we don't talk about Persona and/or Metal Gear? Probably not. This week, I mostly talk about Persona 3 Portable's endgame and let everyone else bring some variety to the table. Alex dives into Persona 4 Golden and Muramasa: The Demon blade, and then takes a moment to remind us that Diablo 3 is pretty fun. Meanwhile, Luke struggles through F-Zero GX (because it's hard), Sonic Lost World (because it's a Sonic game) and P.T. (because good luck figuring that shit out).

  • Episode 9 - Disease Witticism
Bob and Alex were busy, so that left just Luke and me to entertain you guys this week. Unfortunately, Luke was fighting off a deadly alien plague at the time of recording, so expect to hear the occasional cough as we discuss Persona 3 Portable, Sacred 3 and 3D Dot Game Heroes.

  • Episode 8 - Ball-Hitting Mechanics
Hey, do you wanna hear Bob and Luke talk about Hearthstone again? No? Well too bad, because they cannot shut up about it. Thankfully, Alex and I are able to balance out the digital-card-game bullshit with Crypt of the Necrodancer, Shovel Knight, Mario Golf: World Tour and Rune Factory 4. Also: Dark Souls x Back to the Future fanfiction.

  • Episode 7 - We Have to Drop Deeper
Have you ever thought to yourself, "I like Games Witticism, but I wish they wouldn't talk about video games so much?" Well, friend, this episode is for you! Yeah, sure, we talk about Fire Emblem and stuff; but we also spend a whole lot of time on Inception, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Sailor Moon and plenty of other things that have basically nothing to do with the stated purpose of this show.

  • Episode 6 - Law and Order: Wizard Investigation Unit
It's a Telltale-centric episode of Games Witticism this week, as we spend half of it examining The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead. Also, we lament the lack of werewolves in video games, brainstorm a TV show about wizard cops, and check in on the mirror-universe versions of ourselves that Alex created in The Sims 3.

  • Episode 5 - The Cough Cast
Will we ever have all four hosts on at the same time again? Maybe, but not this week. With Bob gone, though, Alex, Luke and I are finally able to talk about Kentucky Route Zero. So I hope you're ready for a whole lot of Kentucky Route Zero. Other topics include: Year Walk for the PC, Final Fantasy X-2, Divinity: Original Sin and Ocarina of Time. And when we finally run out of games to talk about, Luke and I resort to fanboying over the Sailor Moon and Scooby-Doo reboots. The ending music for this episode is "The Won-stoppable Wonderful 101" from The Wonderful 101.
