The key point in Galatians is that the Old Testament is no longer in effect and that we live under a law of liberty (Gal. 5:1). The Old Law was fulfilled and removed by Christ (Col. 2:14). This does not mean however that we are not under any law but rather a law of liberty as it is called in James 1:25 (Gal. 6:2). Paul forcefully and dramatically makes the point that if we take any one thing from the Old Testament to practice we are fallen from grace and that Jesus' death burial and resurrection will have no effect on us. So clearly we are to follow the New Testament and also notice that it is possible for one to fall from grace. These points are passionately developed in this powerful sermon that is sure to make you consider the significance of God's law and our adherence to it (1 Jn. 3:4) The series outline is:
The Doctrine of Liberty Stated: Chapters 1-2
The Doctrine of Liberty Defended: Chapters 3-4
The Doctrine of Liberty Applied: Chapters 5-6
